Chapter 9 I Want to See Her Once MoreA lump of black shadows flew towards Ronghua at an extremely high speed. Ronghua was flying and suddenly turned around sharply in an amazingly quick response. A bow secretly appeared in her left hand, and she shot at the shadow without hesitation.
The shadow directly swallowed the galloping arrow, and Ronghua was shocked for a second. It"s said that Weilian had been slack in cultivation these years, but apparently, it"s not true. Instead, he became even stronger. However, she didn"t saw him cultivating in the Realm of Demons either.
As she was thinking, Weilian had caught up and built a wall directly in front of Ronghua. It was a black smoke-liked wall. Ronghua would not consider it as true smoke because she knew this was one of Weilian"s talents — the Cage. Once the prey was in it, it could never get out.
“d.a.m.n this man, does he take me as prey?” Ronghua thought indignantly. The Cage would not be solid in the daytime, yet it was evening now with no moon and only a few stars, so the Cage was at its best.
Reluctantly, Ronghua had to wield the Ripple Map (a sword) to attack the Cage continuously and finally made a small cut of it. Although the crevice recovered in a second, it was enough for Ronghua to build an ice wall to hold Weilian for a little while. She wielded her sword with all her efforts during this time and made a tiny crack on one side of the Cage. She rushed there in a hurry, but the shadow behind approached and dragged her like a long rope. Then the gap closed within a breath, and Ronghua lost her best chance to escape.
Unexpectedly, the black rope which constrained her could erode her body. She struggled painfully, watching Weilian catching up again. He stood ahead of her, fixing his eyes on her with a gloomy and bloodthirsty look, “Run. Could you still run away now?”
Ronghua knew that they would not end well today, so she calmed down and gave up struggling. This was the rope transformed from part of Weilian"s noumenon. The harder you tried to get rid of it, the tighter it would become, along with the debuff of corrosion.
She managed a smile, “Why did you keep following me? Have you fallen for me?” After saying that, she observed his face and was sure enough that he was going to bristle.
She knew that it was impossible to negotiate with the King of Death when he"s in a fury, so she could only think of another way.
As expected, Weilian was completely angry and came directly to scrag her. Ronghua"s hands were tied up, and she could not balance herself, so she twisted crazily to find the chance to breathe.
“Shall I kill you now or bring you back to the Realm of Demons and throw you into the Ninth h.e.l.l of Demons? How do you think?” Weilian was amused by the grimace of Ronghua and laughed evilly.
Ronghua knew how to rescue herself under such circ.u.mstances. She coughed and said, “If… if you killed me, you would… never see… see Lingran again.” She tried her best to finish this sentence and hoped it would help.
It really worked. Hearing her words, Weilian loosed his hand a little. Ronghua tried harder, “I can… I can let you see… see her.”
“She said I could see her.” Weilian murmured. It would be good to meet Lingran, but this woman had cheated him more than once. She managed to escape last time, and this time, he would not trust her easily.
“How could I believe you?” Weilian said icily, monitoring all her movements after loosing her. Ronghua relaxed immediately when his hand left and reckoned how to get away from him. The same plan would not work twice, so she could only use that thing.
Ronghua implied him by glancing at the Cage, but Weilian grinned ironically, “Stop dreaming. Do you think I would withdraw it?” Ronghua forced her mouth to a line. She succeeded in escaping in this way last time. Obviously, Weilian would not make a mistake again.
Ronghua gathered a ball of light in her hand and took a deep breath. “I will let you see her, but …” She hesitated, and Weilian frowned.
“But what?”
She looked into his eyes, “There is a time limit, no more than two hours. She can"t speak or do anything, just… like a puppet. Do you still want to see her? Even in this way?” She asked gingerly, so afraid that he would ask for more. This was the utmost of her capacity to let him see someone that had been dead for years, and she"s worried that it would dissatisfy him. Hence her heart beat fast.
“Deal.” It was unexpected that he agreed so readily. Ronghua did not hesitate anymore. She tore the light ball in her hand and spread it around them. Soon the interior of the Cage was filled with the lights. Weilian looked at them and had some unusual feelings, not knowing they were tension or fear.
Afterward, Weilian saw the smile of Ronghua in a trance, and she said, “Have a good dream, the King of Death!”
In the dream, it seemed that he entered another place and was surrounded by endless whiteness. He felt a little aimless, for it might not have an end here.
Ronghua looked at Weilian, whose eyes closed, and chuckled in her heart. The Peach Blossom Col worked. That was a place she met accidentally. It was said that the place was left by Lady Lingran, so Ronghua made it a container of a dreamland. The darkness faded away, and the sun rose. Only Weilian and she were hung in the air, so the dreamland must have been functioning well.
Weilian did not know how long he had walked. When he saw something unusual ahead, he dashed and went across a layer of tulle.
It was like going through a door when he pa.s.sed through the tulle. Then he spied Peach Blossom Col, a place full of familiarity.
He stepped in, and the petals were flying all over the sky due to the unknown wind. He reached out for the petal. Ronghua did not lie to him this time. He could eventually see Lingran.
A woman came slowly in the distance. He looked up with faint excitement. A white and soft hand like a beautiful jade lift the layers of mist and came into his sight first, then he saw her.
She was dressed in ice-blue clothes and a tender green pleated dress ornamented with patterns of diffused flowers and mist, covered with a white and thin smoke-liked gauze. She had a skinny shoulder and a slim waist. Her skin was smooth like grease, and her breath was like the smell of orchid. She twisted her waist slightly for small steps and swung her wrist lightly with the fine gauze waved.
Her eyes were like a pool of wavy water in spring, and her hair was combed to a j.a.panese bun embedded with a colorful phoenix-shaped hair accessory. She"s fragrant and tender, more beautiful than flowers. Her fingers were soft and delicate like shallot roots, and her mouth was as red as cinnabar. She"s pretty and unique, and all her emotions would strongly influence his feelings.
She was Lingran, whom he had been dreaming of and missing badly over a hundred million years, and now she was just standing there and looking at him with a smile.
He didn"t want to wait anymore and ran to hug her in his arms, “It"s you. You"re finally here.” He hugged her so tightly, fearing that she would disappear suddenly, but she just hugged back and smiled.
It was already a fantastic present for Weilian, even though nothing else had happened. He dared not have any more expectations.
He did not know how trembling his voice was, “I knew you would come, so I keep waiting. And here you are, it means you did not give me up. I know I am guilty, and I do not pray for your forgiveness. I just hope you could be in my dreams. I miss you so much, Lingran.”
