I spent the rest of my free time meditating. I could feel the core inside of Lucifer rotating ant an increases speed, as it converted the essence in the air into a form it could use. The process was slow, and even with the almost 2 hours I spent meditating I could not notice any difference.

The experience was rather odd. I could feel the orb pulsating and rotating, but it was not inside of me. I had no direct access to it. The power that it should have gave me did not appear. Rather I could feel It nouris.h.i.+ng the baby dragon that slept in my lap. I could feel it getting stronger with each rotation, but the difference was not noticeable.

When free time was over it was time to return to our rooms. We were given 8 hours to sleep. But our squad was far too excited to sleep immediately. My four teammates gathered as they began to gossip. They acted in all ways as you would expect 10-year olds to act. I could only sigh as I watched the girls interact. Because my mind was still that of an adult, I could not bring myself down to their level.

Because of this I knew I would be ostracized from the group, but it was not something I could control. I could only wonder why I had been excluded from the same predicament as them. It was going to be a long six years.

The stayed up late into the night. Even though they attempted to keep their voices down, the combined noise of all of them was enough to keep me awake. I did not waste this time and began to meditate.

Three hours later I was finally able to fall asleep. The sleeping dragon next to me had benefitted from the girl"s late-night chat session. Of course, the sleeping dragon did not know this. As far as I knew it did not have many thoughts of its own yet. Only feelings, and natural instincts.

The night pa.s.sed quickly, soon we were awoken by the sound of a siren. The girls around me jumped out of bed, their eyes rather groggy. Thankfully, meditation counted as rest as well. 5 hours of sleep was enough to function on, even if I was still slightly tired.

After a quick shower and change we headed upstairs. We were greeted by a large table of food. Breakfast had been served. It was a light meal, but enough to make the stomach satisfied.

When breakfast was over, we once again began a workout routine. This one was quite different from the one we had before. The previous work out had focused on a complete body workout, using each muscle. This workout was focused completely on cardio, other than a slight warmup. We jogged and then sprinted. Sprinted and the jogged. We did this for a total of two hours.

My legs were jelly when this was done. We were given no time to recover and immediately went on to the next task. What we did next was weapon training. Each person in our squad was lined up in front of the old man. The rest of the squads had already begun their individual training.

The old man looked at us for a long time. His eyes appraising our own individual talents and abilities. The first person he chose was Hylia. He examined her body closely. His eyes going straight to the spinnerets on her hands. He was unable to tell what cla.s.s or abilities they had before but could only tell what they had right now.

He wrote something down on a piece of paper and handed it to her. She read the information and went off to the side. I was not surprised when I saw her pick up a bow from the rack. It seemed this old man had some ability after all.

His next target was Sierra. He did not even look at her for a moment before he wrote down something on a piece of paper. She nodded when she read it and headed off to the side. She did not grab a weapon, rather she went to a bookshelf and pulled out a specific book. She then sat down in an empty spot and began to read.

His next target was Bailey. He looked at her longer than he looked at either of the other two. He had a slightly confused look on his face as he observed her. I could only agree with his confusion. Her situation was rather odd. She did not have any abilities or talents. The only thing special about her was her abnormally high perception.

After a few minutes he finally wrote down something on a piece of paper. I was rather surprised when she walked away from the others. She approached a table filled with firearms and grabbed a rather large rifle. The weapon would be a good choice for her, but she completely lacked any way of using it yet.

Leisha was another who was rather easy to place. The old man only had to look at her for a few moments before he wrote down some information on a piece of paper. She nodded as she looked at it and went to join a group on feral looking students.

Finally, the old man approached me. He stood in front of me for a long time. His eyes would dance between me and baby dragon that was at my feet. His eyes held a confused look, as if he did not know which route should be taken.

Finally, he seemed to come to a decision. The old man picked up the dragon and whispered something into its ear. The dragon nodded at the old man"s words and walked over to a shelf. A book fell from the shelf as she approached, and lucifer grabbed it and walked over towards Sierra. He sat down as well and began to read from the book.

The old man"s eyes finally focused completely on me. His eyes danced over my body, from my scales to my horns. Even the claws on my hands did not escape his notice. His eyes went wide as he stared at me. I could only a.s.sume he was looking at my abilities. I knew I had maintained two of them. One had been earned when I killed the Arachne, the other was a heritage ability from my mother.

The man seemed conflicted as he looked at me. From my appearance I knew this body would excel at melee combat. But my abilities were orientated for gun fighting. Focusing on one would sacrifice the other.

Finally, the man seemed to make decision as he wrote down on a piece of paper.
