The rosethorn constrictor was not a beast that was easy to take down. It was not overly powerful, but its hallucinogenic pollen was hard to resist. It"s vines slowly unlatched themselves from the trees, becoming tentacle like whips as they arced through the air. I was not pa.s.sive during this time, I had already fired several times, And my poison had already reached maximum stacks. The enemy did not seem to slow down as its vines flew towards me.
Jumping back I fired more [Poison orbs] at the beast, refres.h.i.+ng the poison damage. I began to see a slight ooze coming from the beast, and could not help but scowl. I had already wasted a fourth of mana, and yet the beast was barely fazed.
My movements were easily recognized by the beast, who adjusted its vines instinctively. A large th.o.r.n.y vine whipped across my body, the thorns ripping across my legs, tearing both my dress and flesh.
I winced as I observed the Rosethorn. It"s attacks had effectively slowed my movements. Even if this monster was a flower it was much smarter than the Goblins I had slaughtered. It only went to show me how low on the totem poll goblins really were. Thankfully goblins were a species that could evolve. We were technically monsters, so were not limited to our forms like humans or High elves.
That did not matter at the moment though, I could not afford for my attention to be split from the creature in front of me. It was stronger and faster than me.
Whips began to rain down on my location, but I forced myself to wait for the very last moment to dodge. I could feel the wind from the vines pa.s.s me, and heard a loud rip from my cloak.
I did not turn to look as I fired four shots at the vines. A couple of them missed, but the two that hit withered the vines, causing them to hit the floor limply. I smiled as a new plan crossed my mind. 2 vines down. 18 to go.
What followed was a dance that ended with me getting struck several times. I was bleeding and had lost most of my health. A grim smile crossed my face as I observed the Rosethorn, Its vines all hung limply on the ground and it screamed in a rage.
A wave of purple pollen radiated from the beast, but I would not fall for the same trick twice. Bullet holes riddled the flower. Green goo leaked from its wounds, and it could be seen visibly withering.
I stood before it confidently, only firing off my orbs to refresh the poison that was eating away at its insides. Eventually it fell to the floor dead. Its death was confirmed by a notification from the system.

I smiled as I looked at the notification, finally I could evolve from this weak goblin form. Finally I could leave behind the indignity that had been left behind by the members of my deceased clan.
But before I did that, I had to loot the prey. I walked confidently to the corpse of my victim. My hands itching to see what treasures could be found from the corpse.
As i approached an amazing thing happened, the pollen in the air, as well as the corpse itself began to glow, before turning into a streak of light and gathering on my cloak. My cloak joined in on the glowing, before emerging shortly after. Its appearance had drastically changed.
It was still worn and tattered, but its color had s.h.i.+fted from black to a dark green. On the back. which I could not see until I took it off, was a blood red rose. I could feel a vague magical energy from it and decided to inspect it.
