Chapter 183: The Enigmas Strikes Back

After careful consideration, the king of the Enigmatic Prophets gave out two orders.
“Low, Medium-ranked Enigmatic n.o.bles, you’re going to support the Shadow Legion in the front lines. We’ll pick three of the seventeen Enigmatic Castles that have the closest range to the battlefield and activate their 8800 Lesser Enigmatic Gems to provide support fire for the Shadow Legion in the air.”
The king’s voice, low-pitched but raised, was uttered vigilantly while staring straight at his subjects with his seemingly depressed starry eyes.
As soon as the commander gave out his orders, several dozens of Amonros leaped up into the air and flew away, rus.h.i.+ng to the armies to pa.s.s on the king’s orders.
A few moments later, the originally spectating Enigmatic Amonros too leaped up into the air, as though becoming dark shooting arrows, and darted straight at the crimson mist that was fuming under the Shadow Clouds, observing and joining the battle between the Sorcerers’ Soul Slaves and their Shadow Legion.
These fair-skinned Enigmatic Amonros now had a layer of grey energy br.i.m.m.i.n.g around their bodies, raising their bodies’ const.i.tution to levels higher than that of the Golden Amonros. Other than that, they each had their own mounts too. With these several dozens of thousands of new combatants, the tide of the battle was starting to s.h.i.+ft in the Amonros’ favor.
A four-headed snake widened its mouths and spat out four squirts of different kinds of venoms at the enemies; then, its fifty-meter long body furiously whipped its gigantic tail and sent the Amonros, who were circling it and looking for an opening to attack, flying in the air.
The four-headed snake possessed st.u.r.dy scales on its body—serving as its trusty durable armor. Other than the Elite Amonros that gave it their all by lunging their weapons at it, and several Amonros that were lucky enough to be able to pierce their tails into the s.p.a.ces between its scales, the snake’s defense was basically impenetrable.
On the other hand, the Amonros that were sprayed by the venom or whacked by the snake’s ma.s.sive tail were mostly dead.
One touch of the venom and they were dead.
One dash from its tail and they were vanquished.
From the moment the battle had begun, this powerful four-headed snake had slaughtered at least two hundred of Shadow Legion’s brave soldiers.
Hissssssss….
The four-headed snake hissed as it flew onwards as hundreds of smaller Soul Slaves tagged along roaring fiercely in the sky.
Thousands of meters away, there were countless Golden Amonros, widening their red crimson eyes, storming towards the “monster army” as they raised their tails high, like ferocious scorpions forming a layer of defense.
All that was happening on the battlefield around the four-headed snake was basically a smaller version of what was going on in the entire meat-grinding skirmish between the Shadow Legion and Soul Slaves.
A while later.
The countless smaller monsters that were gathered around the powerful and berserked four-headed snake flocked towards the Shadow Legion and started another round of scuffling. As terrifying roars could be heard everywhere, small agile shadows could be seen chasing after and clas.h.i.+ng at one another from a distance.
As the battle between the Soul Slaves and Amonros had escalated to new heights, the four-headed snake’s venom rained from the sky. Then, the ferocious Soul Slaves would just devour the Amonros who had fallen from the poison.
There were, of course, numerous other Amonros that were rus.h.i.+ng towards the four-headed snake, they were all blocked off by the smaller Soul Slaves that were guarding it. Then, another round of guerrilla skirmish was engaged as the Amonros tried to get closer to the snake. Nonetheless, even though there were a few Amonros that were able to get close to the four-headed snake, they still endured fatal injuries from the monstrosity’s ferocious attacks.
This snake was, after all, a Level 2 creature—as ranked by the Sorcerer World.
As the Shadow Legion was about to suffer another round of defeat and push back yet again, a swarm of Enigmatic Amonros darted up to the sky and flew in to their aid. These Enigmatic Amonros were the n.o.bles that were sent by the Enigmatic Prophets as reinforcement.
In the glimpse of an eye, a dozen Enigmatic Amonros darted straight to the losing Amonro soldiers and launched their fiercest strikes at the four-headed snake.
A one-eyed monster, clad in a full set of bone armor, let out a loud weird roar as it dashed towards one of the Enigmatic Amonros.
Whoos.h.!.+
The Enigmatic Amonro merely gave the monster a glance before it spewed out two fireb.a.l.l.s.
The bone-armor monster quickly dodged the first fireball and then pierced its trident at the other. “Boom!” the fireball dispersed into a huge wave of flames as it exploded.
Emerging from the flame, the bone-armor monster dashed straight at the Enigmatic Amonro.
The Enigmatic Amonro, who was only half a meter in size, rode on its three-meter long Fiery Rhino—one that possessed thick, crimson hide that fumed black smog.
Moooo!!
The Fiery Rhino let out a low-pitched moo before spewing out a blazing pillar of fire from its mouth. Yet, its target was not the bone-armor monster—it was aiming at a squirt of black venom.
Poof!
The moment the fire touched the dark venom, an unbearable stench reeked out into the surrounding area. Most Soul Slaves and Amonros in the area dropped to the ground after swaying unsteadily around the smog. The surviving ones, after seeing this, quickly escaped from the area.
In the meantime, the bone-armor monster fiercely pierced its trident at the Fiery Rhino and its rider—the Enigmatic Amonro. Widening its mouth, baring its sharp razor fangs, the bone-armor monster salivated drips of green liquid; its single eye was glimmering with bloodl.u.s.t and excitement.
Then, a glimpse of shadow zipped pa.s.sed them. Sensing something wrong, the bone-armor monster looked down and saw, to its shock, the tail impaled in its chest. Overwhelmed by disbelief and pain, its trident slipped out of its hand.
Screech!
After withdrawing its tail with tremendous might, the Enigmatic Amonro was able to tear the bone-armor monster in half. Green blood spilled everywhere as the Amonro watched on with its cold eyes.
Yet, as the Enigmatic Amonro thought it had defeated this low-level monster with ease and prepared to head out to take on other monsters, a weird ball of flesh darted out from the remains of the bone-armor monster and straight into the Amonro’s mouth.
It was so fast that the Amonro did not have time to react at all.
No one took notice of this due to how chaotic the battlefield was.
After a few huffs, the trembling Amonro then impaled its mouth from below using its tail. Ignoring the excruciating cry of the Fiery Rhino, the Enigmatic Amonro then spoke to itself with a cold voice, “Keke! I’ll just take this body as my new host then. Let’s see… just what kind of secrets does this race of creature holds. Who knows, I might actually acquire the honor of being ranked Level 1.”
Whoosh.
Then, this Enigmatic Amonro joined in the battle with the four-headed snake and the other Amonros, its attacks fiercer than ever.
***
Several Ape Lords, each more than ten meters in height, spun their arms around to form a defensive stance around them; their eyes were not as fierce as before. Now, there was fear in those eyes.
These Enigmatic Amonros, the ones that suddenly appeared from below, were much stronger—their combat prowess was on a totally different level compared to the Golden Amonros.
Several Ape Lords saw their now struggling fellow Soul Slaves and immediately realized that they would not have any reinforcement in the next few hours. Thus, they quickly formed a defensive line, baring their sharp fangs and flailing their muscular arms to fend off the oncoming enemies.
They could not retreat. This was the order of their Sorcerer masters.
Needless to say, their orders were absolute!
In just half an hourgla.s.s, ear piercing roars could be heard everywhere as a bloodied Ape Lord fell from the sky. Its arms were still pressing on a bleeding wound on its chest. There was nothing but horror on its now rigid face.
Then, before it reached the ground, the Ape Lord’s skin suddenly rippled and burst! A small Enigmatic Amonro darted out of the Ape Lord’s carca.s.s as it coldly eyed the falling body.
Boom!
The moment the gigantic Ape Lord landed on the ground, pieces of flesh crashed out of its ma.s.sive body. In just the bat of an eyelash, tides after tides of low ranked Amonros, who did not have fighting capabilities, swarmed all over the ape’s dying body.
Then, another half an hourgla.s.s pa.s.sed.
An Enigmatic Amonro breathed out a fog of Enigmatic energy, covering the Ape Lord’s body. This energy appeared to have some kind of s.p.a.ce folding property, one that could shrink the ten-meter Ape Lord into two meters in size.
As the energy kept enfolding the body, its size kept getting smaller and smaller.
After a dozen breaths later, the Ape Lord was now merely a few centimeters in size as it was clouded by layers after layers of Enigmatic Energy.
Too powerless to escape, the Ape Lord was pushed into the Enigmatic Amonro’s mouth. In a swift gulp, the poor ape was swallowed whole.
This was the fabled “Enigmatic Seal”—the power that the Enigmatic Amonros possessed.
If they were not gathered at the battlefield under such hasty circ.u.mstances, the potency of the Enigmatic Energy would be even more powerful than what was displayed here.
***
On the ground.
Amongst the endless tides of low ranked Amonros, several ten-meter tall skeletal flowers, dyed in various colors, had started to bloom. Then, they started to distort as burping sounds could be heard coming from within; pungent acidic smell wafted from around the vicinity of the “flowers” while the Amonros kept pouring some kind of secret component into them.
When watched from afar, these skeletal flowers were blooming from across the flat lands unevenly. If one were to estimate its number at first glance, it would appear to be at least tens of thousands of them blooming on the ground.
Suddenly, after a round of orders circulated amongst the skeletal flowers, they violently flailed around before shooting glaring b.l.o.o.d.y light b.a.l.l.s into the air.
Pulling along long trails of light, like elongated tails, these b.l.o.o.d.y light b.a.l.l.s stormed across the sky and straight into the monster army.
At the same time, there were also three similar b.a.l.l.s launched from the three nearest mountains. At another glance, they did not look “similar”. These three large b.l.o.o.d.y light b.a.l.l.s were much bigger than the ones that were released from the ground.
Boom boom boom booooooom!!!
Bright light mist exploded amongst the bloodied sky in the next second. This crimson light mist appeared to differ vastly from the energy-based weapons that the Sorcerers possessed. As the mist spread across the sky, the Soul Slaves in the monster army did not show any reaction to the mist at all.
However, a few moments later…
Excruciating cries and wails could be heard echoing the battlefield before thousands and thousands of monster corpses rained down from the sky. Some of the deceased monsters were amongst the high ranked ones, ones that were ma.s.sive in size. Of course, there were also some casualties within the Shadow Legion, who were unfortunate enough to be caught in the crossfire.
If one observed closely, one could see a layer of crimson moss spreading wildly on them. These mosses were continuously sapping the remains of the deceased monsters. Each of the corpses looked as though they had nothing other than bones underneath their skins.
With one glance, the Soul Slave army seemed to have sustained great casualties and confusion rocked amongst their ranks. They had lost their overwhelming advantage on the battlefield.
On the ground, countless low ranked Amonros were already starting to pour contents into the skeletal flowers, preparing for another round of attack.
If these weird eerie attacks were launched again, in just a few rounds the Demon-Hunters could actually lose to the Amonros’ Shadow Legion.
***
At the headquarters behind the Amonros’ front lines.
Many Enigmatic Kings and Prophets grinned with excitement as they saw that the tide of the war was tipping in their favor. Some of them were even eager to leap out to join the battle.
“Hmm, this voice is…”
Suddenly, the plump king of the Enigmatic Prophets showed a grim face and barked out loudly, “Stop! The great holy Princ.i.p.al Will of the Amonro World told me… this isn’t the end of the conquest of the evil Sorcerer World… it’s…”
Before the king could complete his words, the Enigmatic Prophets’ faces too had turned pale.
It was at this moment, an invisible evil intent was spreading across the Amonro World’s sky and the cold bloodied sun, like an elongated tentacle.
The Enigmatic Prophets shut their eyes and quietly sensed this evil intent, rule, and order that was cloaking their bodies, disturbing their Amonro World’s peace.
A clash of the old and new orders, rising and falling, the two worlds’ wills were now entangled and influencing one another.
At this moment, every single protector of the Amonro World was trembling in fear!
Was this the Princ.i.p.al Will of a foreign land that was invading the Amonro World?
How could this be?!
In the meantime, the Enigmatic Kings too were shocked and haunted as they sensed the eerie intent from across the bloodied sky and Shadow Clouds forming on the other side of the bloodied cold sun.
Although the evil intent was faint and far away, not one Amonro was able to see what was in it, but they could feel the terrifying energy that was dissipating from it. They could feel it instinctively.
This energy was so potent that even though they were thousands and thousands of meters apart, the Enigmatic Kings were now frozen in terror and shock. The sheer silence in the area would make one suspect that the end of the world was coming.
Just what was going on there?
