Boom!
The blast within the confined area caused the ground to shake with a violent tremor. Slowly, Grimm put down the Sabbatic Goat Staff as he looked down at the giant crater on the ground inside of which was left with only a b.l.o.o.d.y pile of mangled flesh.
“Caw? What is this?”
The Myna curiously pointed towards the crater. The young Acraepoid from before had been smashed into a pulp that was stuck to the soil. Despite the sheer force of the attack from Grimm’s Sabbatic Goat Staff, a leather-bound book seemed to have been left unscathed within the crater.
“Hmm?”
Grimm too was surprised at the sight. For it to remain intact after his attack, this book must have been made out of some extraordinary materials.
How the h.e.l.l did this little chap from the Infernal Spirit World get a hold of such a high-level item?
Grimm’s suspicions lingered as he bent down to pick up the book. While he was lifting the book, pieces of b.l.o.o.d.y flesh slid cleanly off the book cover, and the pages of the book seemed to have remained stainless. Suddenly, a line of words written using the Soul Ripple appeared in front of him.
“Vulkshy Infernal Curse”.
Grimm read the words out loud in the sorcerers’ language before flipping the book open, scanning through the lines of soul language to get a rough understanding of the book’s content.
After half an hourgla.s.s, Grimm slowly closed the “Vulkshy Infernal Curse” as the two-colored eyes underneath the Mask of Truth lit up in delight.
“This really is an amazing discovery I got from a mere Acraepoid youngling escapee.”
Roughly based off what Grimm had read, the “Vulkshy Infernal Curse” was someone’s diary of experiments, who himself was of equal standing to a Stigmata Sorcerer. Like a sorcerer’s entries about sorcery knowledge he had obtained, this person had entries on the cultivation of the Power of the Infernal Spirit, and at the level of a World Lord’s. Needless to say, this sort of information was priceless to the Acraepoids, what more to say to the sorcerers who were fighting the Acraepoids.
In the process of this Vulkshy’s cultivation, the proposed methods to utilize the Power of the Infernal Spirit was pretty impressive. However, to a sorcerer, it was just another method, just another branch of sorcery.
However, the introduction to another method in the last paragraph caught Grimm’s interest. His heart pounded in excitement the moment his eyes locked onto the first sentence of the paragraph.
When one cultivated the “Vulkshy Infernal Curse” to a higher dimension, one could call upon the Princ.i.p.al Powers and from there, connect to the stream of Mystical Energy from an Exotic World, thus acquiring extraordinary powers.
Transmission of the Mystical Energy?
After tucking away the unexpected gift, Grimm looked at the sealed off narrow s.p.a.ce around him. He deduced that this must be what remained of an abandoned Flame Burrow.
If he had lost this little b.a.s.t.a.r.d, G.o.d knows how hard it would be to get it again.
Grimm then asked the Myna who was perched on his shoulder, “Where’s the exit?”
“There!”
Following the direction of the Myna’s wings, Grimm’s Sabbatic Goat Staff blasted in the general direction it was pointed to.
Boom!
Such Flame Burrows like the one they were in could be found in nearly every corner of the Dark Destroyer Kingdom. Large pieces of red-colored weathered mud were sent flying outwards, alongside a large pile of rocky shrapnel.
Grimm’s figure was blurred out as he transformed into a large heap of yellow sand before reappearing outside the burrow. Underneath the Mask of Truth, one of his eyes formed an Eagle Eye as he raised his head to look at the skies above.
The battle had started turning in favor of the Stigmata Sorcerers and the Demon-Hunter Sorcerers. In the midst of the intense fighting, Grimm could see large formations of Acraepoids deserting the battlefield.
Rumble…
The sound of the Demon-Hunter Sorcerers’ decemation of Flame Burrows en ma.s.se echoed throughout the Dark Destroyer Kingdom. From what Grimm could see, the originally bustling city of Flame Burrows had now been hollowed out.
On one side of the horizon, Grimm observed a large horde of Infernal Spirit slave creatures alongside some Demon-Hunter Sorcerers caught in an onslaught. On the other side was a Dark Demon-Hunter committing acts that could only be described as genocidal against the Acraepoids.
A short moment later.
Grimm focused to get a bearing of where he was standing. Immediately afterwards, he flew quickly towards a direction, ignoring the battle unfolding between the Dark Demon-Hunters and the Infernal Spirit World’s slave army below.
A few minutes later.
After flying stealthily across a large ruin, Grimm had returned to the Flame Burrow where he previously had been.
A magic array seemed to have completely sealed the entrance to the Flame Burrow, like a room without a door. However, in Grimm’s perspective as a sorcerer, an undisguised magic wave was the most obvious clue for a mystery. Thus, Grimm walked through the entrance without breaking a sweat.
“You have returned. I heard there was an incident up there?”
Wicky, who stood at the door asked Grimm as he entered the place.
“Yeah.”
Grimm nodded, as the Myna chattered on, “Caw caw caw caw, it has already been dealt with by none other than Lord Ba and his young master.”
Glancing at the pile of Acraepoid corpses that maintained the magic array, Grimm then directed his gaze upwards towards the center of the Flame Burrow.
“How many layers have you guys cleared?”
Wicky shook his head, indicating that he was in the dark about it. Instead, the Level-3 great sorcerer who was guarding the magic array replied, “This must be the final one.”
“Right.”
Grimm nodded his head. It seemed that while he was wasting his time, glancing quickly through the “Vulkshy Infernal Curse”, they had been continuously toiling away here to clear off the place.
Considering that this would be the final batch, Grimm made the decision to wait on the spot instead of going up there.
Suddenly, out of instinct, Grimm took out the crystal ball and charged it with some magic power. It seemed that Millie had sent him something.
At the moment, Millie was in a room that glowed in a blue tint. Her face was rather pale, perhaps due to non-stop fighting on the battlefield.
“Grimm, I, Solumn and a few other Level-3 Demon-Hunter Sorcerer conscripts are clearing off resistance forces in an underground chasm. Their setup here is pretty darn complex. There are hordes of slave forces in every corner you turn.”
‘Underground chasm?’
Grimm was taken aback. Logically speaking, since the revolving laws of this world favored the construction of Flame Burrows high up into the sky, there should be little to no underground constructions.
After all, this world also had no long term enemies to fend off.
“Caw caw caw, Millie, you hold on. We will be there shortly after young master and I wrap up our mission.”
It was apparent how close the Myna was with Millie.
Grimm’s focus s.h.i.+fted onto the large team of Dark Demon-Hunters behind Millie and Solumn. He then asked abruptly, “How many Demon-Hunter Sorcerers do you have there with you right now?”
Millie turned around to look at her surroundings.
“Around five hundred people.”
‘So many?!’
Dark Demon-Hunters used tactics different to that of Bright Demon-Hunter Sorcerers. They typically fought small skirmishes in groups of less than a hundred people, which was where their fighting capabilities would max out.
As their numbers increased, Dark Demon-Hunters would become harder to coordinate and would become merely a ma.s.s of individual powerful beings. While their fighting capabilities far surpa.s.sed that of Bright Sorcerers, such numbers would only amount to a waste of precious battlefield resources.
This principle should be clear in the mind of whoever was in charge, who was most likely a Level-3 sorcerer. Given this, Grimm was left with a single possibility. There must have been some kind of important target where they were.
Grimm took a deep breath and replied, “My mission here will be ending shortly. I will try my best to make it there as soon as possible.”
“Understood.”
Millie nodded her head. Suddenly, her expression changed for the worse as she turned in another direction, as if something unthinkable had happened. The transmission ended abruptly then and there.
‘Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh…’
A dozen Dark Demon-Hunters flew down from the upper layers of the Flame Burrow, amongst them was Claudia. Yet another pile of Acraepoid corpses were thrusted into the pile for magic array cultivation as the Level-3 Demon-Hunter Sorcerer standing on the array nodded his head in satisfaction.
“So many of them huh? Not bad! Now listen to my command, focus all your firepower roughly around that area and blow up this entire Flame Burrow.”
As the group of sorcerers took up their firing positions, they aimed their spells towards some marked positions before letting all h.e.l.l break loose. The resulting explosions that shook the ground seemed to go on forever.
At the same time, a low rumbling noise could be heard from the Flame Burrow before it started tipping over in one direction…
