Chapter 975 The Sniper (2)
Xu Youning did not go out for a whole day. She stayed at home and played games with Mumu. They had a good time and even forgot all about eating and sleeping.
In the evening, after helping Mumu take a shower, Xu Youning wanted to coax the little boy to sleep. However, the little boy, who was surprisingly energetic, refused to sleep and pestered Xu Youning to play Chinese checkers.
After several rounds, Kang Ruicheng and Dongzi came back.
Kang Ruicheng checked the time and frowned. “Mumu, why aren’t you sleeping yet?”
Mumu hid behind Xu Youning, poked out half of his head, and looked at Kang Ruicheng uneasily. “I’ll tell you if you agree not to get angry!”
Kang Ruicheng’s frown deepened, but he finally compromised and said, “I’m not angry. Tell me.”
“Auntie Youning won’t sleep until you come back. I don’t want to sleep alone.” Mumu pointed at Kang Ruicheng. “So it’s your fault!”
Kang Ruicheng glanced at Xu Youning and could roughly guess why she was waiting for him. He ordered Mumu, “Go back to your room now. Youning and I have something to talk about!”
Xu Youning knew that it was not so easy for Mumu to listen to Kang Ruicheng.
She touched Mumu’s head and said, “Be a good boy. I’ll be there soon.”
Mumu was inexplicably afraid that Xu Youning would leave without saying goodbye, so he carefully asked Xu Youning to pinky swear on it. “I’m waiting for you.”
Xu Youning made a pinky promise. “See you later.”
Ah Jin took Mumu upstairs. Xu Youning made sure that the little boy could not hear her and then asked, “Who sniped at me yesterday at the bar street?”
Kang Ruicheng motioned for Dongzi to come over and ordered, “Tell A Ning everything you found.”
Dongzi handed Xu Youning a full body shot of someone.
Xu Youning recognized the person in the photo at a glance. The person was called Jason, who was one of her targets two years ago and was lucky enough to escape. After she got what she wanted, she was in a hurry to leave, so she did not hunt him down.
After that, she returned to City G, she forgot about Jason over time. Later, when she heard about Jason’s whereabouts several times, she did not take it seriously.
“Was Jason here to take revenge on her now?”
Xu Youning asked directly, “Where is Jason now?”
Her situation was unstable, so she could not deal with Jason in person. However, Kang Ruicheng had so many people under his command. He could easily send a few people out and kill Jason.
If it were in the past, Xu Youning would not rely on Kang Ruicheng’s power. She would kill Jason by herself.
But now, she could not take the risk, let alone risk her child’s life.
Dongzi glanced at Xu Youning and hesitated to give the answer as if it were a very difficult question.
The more Xu Youning looked at him, the more she felt that something was wrong. She changed her question. “What happened to Jason?”
Dongzi was silent for another moment before saying, “He is dead.”
Xu Youning was stunned and could hardly respond.
A person who came from afar to kill her was dead before he could kill her?
Was this guy here just for laughs?
Xu Youning could not help asking curiously, “How did he die?”
Dongzi avoided Xu Youning’s gaze and said vaguely, “The mantis stalks the cicada, not knowing that the oriole is lurking behind.”
Xu Youning understood Dongzi’s words, but she still found it incredible.
Was it really such a coincidence that Jason had been killed by her enemy before he killed her?
Xu Youning did not give up and asked further, “Who was the oriole?”
Dongzi shook his head. “I also want to know, but I can’t find anything. Jason’s body was found in the suburbs. The police registered and investigated the case, and finally confirmed that the case was an accident.”
Xu Youning and Dongzi knew very well that it was seemingly an accident, but actually a clear case of homicide.
Jason was not an easy person to deal with. Ordinary people could not just kill him and then pretend that his death was an accident.
There were only a few extraordinary people in City A.
When Mu Sijue’s name came to her mind, Xu Youning felt that she was insane.
Mu Sijue did have the ability to deal with Jason quietly, but he had no reason to do so.
Therefore, it should be someone else.
However, her crisis had been solved and she did not even need to lift a finger. As the old saying in City G went, she was lucky enough to pick up a dead chicken.
This feeling was good!
Xu Youning breathed a sigh of relief and said, “No matter who killed Jason, it solved a big problem for us. As long as that person doesn’t target us, we don’t have to care about it. Just pretend that nothing happened.”
Kang Ruicheng nodded. “Mumu is still waiting for you. Go upstairs and sleep.”
Xu Youning stretched herself and said, “I’m also sleepy.”
After that, she went upstairs nonchalantly.
Kang Ruicheng and Dongzi walked into the yard. The night was dark and cold. This winter in City A seemed to be colder than ever.
Dongzi knew Kang Ruicheng’s habits, so he handed him a cigarette and lit it for him.
Kang Ruicheng took a deep drag on the cigarette and slowly exhaled a large smoke ring. “Could it be that Mu Sijue killed Jason?”
If it was really Mu Sijue who killed Jason, there was only one explanation. He did it for Xu Youning’s sake.
Did he want to solve the problem for Xu Youning or would not allow anyone to kill Xu Youning except for himself? Only Mu Sijue knew the exact reason.
Kang Ruicheng did not know why he suspected Mu Sijue. He just had a very strong intuition.
Dongzi also could not figure out why Kang Ruicheng suspected Mu Sijue, and he could only answer truthfully, “I made an investigation, and I’m very sure it’s not Mu Sijue.”
“Got it.” Kang Ruicheng threw the cigarette b.u.t.t to the ground and stamped it out slowly. “Go back and get some sleep.”
After Kang Ruicheng fell asleep, the house of the Kang family settled down and became quiet again.
However, the Century Gardens Hotel was not quiet.
In the middle of the night, Yang Shanshan was screaming in the lobby of the hotel, “I don’t care. Isn’t the operation philosophy of your hotel to satisfy all requirements of the customers? Now I’m looking for Brother Sijue. You have to find him out for me!”
“Miss… Miss Yang, if you lost something, we can certainly help you, but we really can’t help you find a living person.” The hotel manager advised politely, “Also, for the sake of other guests, please keep your voice down.”
“Ah!”
Yang Shanshan became hysterical and her screams became louder.
She received a phone call from her father and came back from Canada. She had thought that she could finally have a romantic relationship with Mu Sijue after spending the night with him.
However, since that night, she had never seen Mu Sijue again!
She could not get in touch with Mu Sijue at all. She almost tore the city apart, but still could not find him.
Yang Shanshan refused to admit that Su Jian’an was right. Mu Sijue was not serious about her at all, and the hotel manager’s words just confirmed the truth: the steely Mr. Mu had a constant flow of female companions in his suite!
With this idea in her mind, Yang Shanshan screamed even more miserably.
The manager had been in charge of managing the hotel for many years and rarely met such an annoying customer as Yang Shanshan.
Lu Boyan had told him not to be polite to anyone impolite, for the hotel owner had the final say.
The manager’s patience began to wear thin and he said coldly, “Miss Yang, if you go on like this, we’ll have to ask you to leave.”
It was already a fatal blow for Yang Shanshan when she failed to find Mu Sijue.
The manager even wanted to drive her away?
Yang Shanshan’s delicate artificially made-up face was almost distorted. She rushed to the manager and shouted, “Do you know who I am? I know your boss! Yes, help me contact Lu Boyan, or Su Jian’an!”
When someone in the hotel mentioned Lu Boyan and Su Jian’an, they would usually call them “Mr. Lu” and “Mrs. Lu”. Yang Shanshan was the first one to address them by their full names.
The manager really felt that he had treated Yang Shanshan too politely. He should have asked the security guards to drive Yang Shanshan out directly.
At this time, Yang Shanshan suddenly said, “Help me contact Lu Boyan, and I promise I won’t create any more problems here.”
Mu Sijue had personally admitted that Lu Boyan was his friend, which showed that they had a good relationship.
She could not get in touch with Mu Sijue, but Lu Boyan would definitely be able to!
The manager had no choice but to contact Lu Boyan and ask him how to deal with Yang Shanshan.
Lu Boyan contacted Mu Sijue directly. In less than twenty minutes, Mu Sijue appeared at the hotel.
When Yang Shanshan saw Mu Sijue, her eyes lit up. She almost ran over and said, “Brother Sijue, you finally came to me.”
Mu Sijue did not even look at Yang Shanshan. He said coldly, “Come with me.”
“OK!”
Yang Shanshan was certainly happy to go with Mu Sijue.
They got into Mu Sijue’s car, but the car traveled for only a short distance before it stopped. Yang Shanshan was about to ask why when she heard Mu Sijue say, “Get out of the car.”
“Brother Sijue.” Yang Shanshan looked at Mu Sijue pitifully. “Don’t you want me anymore?”
Mu Sijue acted as if he did not hear Yang Shanshan’s words. “There is a hotel at the intersection. I’ve booked a room for you. You can stay there.”
Yang Shanshan did not give up and approached Mu Sijue, asking expectantly, “What about you? Where will you stay?”
“Shanshan,” Mu Sijue said as he looked at Yang Shanshan coldly, “I don’t like living in hotels.”
“You liar!” Yang Shanshan said hysterically, “Su Jian’an clearly told me that you like the Century Gardens Hotel very much, and you like the suite that we lived in the night before yesterday!”
Mu Sijue frowned and asked, “What else did Jian’an say?”
Yang Shanshan said reluctantly, “She also said that you often bring different women to hotels. Brother Sijue, I don’t care about your past, but we slept together the night before yesterday. You must be responsible for me! Otherwise, I will go back and report it to my dad!”
Mu Sijue could ignore Yang Shanshan, but her father’s situation was currently…
He did not want these things to be made known to his elders.
Mu Sijue turned his head and looked at Yang Shanshan with an unfathomable look.
This was the first time Mu Sijue met Yang Shanshan’s eyes tonight. Before she rejoiced, she noticed that Mu Sijue’s gaze was a little strange. She could not help feeling nervous and said, “Brother Sijue, what’s wrong? Don’t scare me.”
“Shanshan,” Mu Sijue said lightly, “you’d better first figure out what happened the night before yesterday.”
Mu Sijue’s tone was so flat that Yang Shanshan suspected that nothing had happened between them the night before yesterday.
But how was that possible?
Yang Shanshan was stunned for a long while and asked, “Brother Sijue, what… do you mean?”
Mu Sijue did not answer Yang Shanshan’s question. He just said, “I’m in a hurry. Get out of the car.”
Yang Shanshan’s eyes turned red. She wanted to ask about what had happened the night before yesterday, but the door was pulled open.
One of Mu Sijue’s men stood beside the car door. He seemed to be polite, but in fact, he said abruptly, “Miss Yang, please come out.”
