"How did you get this scarf?" Lilith asked.Black had warned me that I should pretend to have never seen him if something like that happened and I was gonna do that.
"I found this in my backyard but there aren"t any houses nearby so I didn"t know what to do of it." I was such a good liar.
"Now what?" Lorex asked her as he wrapped that scarf twice around his neck.
"You"ve an extra room right?
"My parents are gonna be back soon." I lied.
"Stop lying to us girl. I can see that you live here alone." Lorex was scary. The way he raised his brows while he talked and his nose flared. That was scary enough to make me speechless.
"Look," Lilith said to me as she placed both of her hands on my shoulders "What"s your name?" she said while looking at me right in eyes.
"Eve."
"Look Eve. We"re not bad guys and he may seem like it, but he"s harmless too. He doesn"t knows how to talk with others. We"re not gonna harm you or anything. But we"re in a little trouble right now. So can we please stay here for just a day? Anywhere would be fine." the way he said it all was soothing. I wasn"t in danger, I knew. I had a feeling that I could trust her. Her eyes as grey as clouds stared at me asking for answers.
"Okay, you can stay in the living room." I pointed to the room opposite of my parents bedroom.
"Thank you so much." Lilith spread her arms around me to give me a hug. I couldn"t believe how lightly she was holding me, unlike black. Lorex was just standing there, looking away when Lilith cleared stepped back and cleared her throat.
"Whatever, thanks." I didn"t like his behaviour but standing there looking away as if he was shy, I felt he wasn"t that bad either. He had ego issues though which he needed to clear soon.
They both walked to the living room. I closed the door and was about to go when Lilith approached me again.
"One thing more, have you seen anyone nearby with silver-white hair wearing a long black cape like coat?"
"No."
"Okay cool. Make sure to stay away from that guy if you see him. That monster is quiet dangerous." Lilith went inside the room after saying that.
They were calling him monster. They called him monster in front of me and I couldn"t speak out that he is not a monster. I felt so useless. I was sure they weren"t humans. Those two were either angels or devils. They weren"t freaky and all stuff to be considered devils but who knows, perhaps they were putting on a mask to entice and charm others. Even if I knew who they were, even if they were after Black"s life, there was nothing I could have done.
Black might be in danger but the stories he told me about himself compelled me to have faith in him that he can take care of himself.
I silently retreated towards the bathroom on the right of hallway to wash the rest of my clothes.
* * * * *
It was near six in the evening, when I heard a knock on my door.
"Come in." I answered as I put the book ent.i.tled Atonia on the bedside. It was a fantasy one but not as interesting as it was in beginning. Fantasy had turned into reality in my life. My world was turned upside down. The mysteries around the corner and the sights I saw were enough to kill my interest in a mere book of fantasy.
Lilith opened the door.
"Can you help us wth food Eve. We"re hungry." she said while rubbing hand on her tummy. Such exaggerating.
"Okay" I replied.
I went downstairs with her. The living room seemed the same way it was before. Lorex was laying on his stomach on one of the three couches that were placed on the sides of a rectangular table. All three were collectively facing the wall that had a TV attached. There was a shelf below the TV. I don"t know how they even spent the whole day in there without doing anything. There was a big door c.u.m window made of gla.s.s on one side of living room leading to the backyard. It took a hall lot of time to clean that. I could see the lemon tree I planted through that anytime. The red curtains decorate with white frails were hanging on either side of the room. The red colour matched with the colour on the walls, though uh curtains had a darker shade.
"I don"t know how to prepare food."
"I"ll try to make something edible. I"m terrible at cooking too, so no promises."
"I trust you."
Lilith entered the living room as I made my way to the kitchen through hallway. Kitchen was left to the hallway and had two doors, one connecting it to the living room. I opened the refrigerator to find out that there wasn"t much in there. One day I was going to die of hunger. Just then my sight fell upon the bananas. I can make them a banana shake, I thought.
I served them the shake in the coffee mugs. I was too lazy to get the gla.s.ses from the box that was placed at far corner of the shelf.
Lorex didn"t bother to say anything. Lilith was polite as always and thanked me.
It wasn"t like I had a problem with those two, they seemed harmless. But I just didn"t like being with those two strangers. They weren"t my friends or anything. I was being forced in a way. I didn"t know anything about them at all to begin with. It felt I was being house attest by them.
Just then the bell rang.
This time I felt that strange feeling in my heart. Like magnets behave when they"re placed nearby each other, the force attracts them, a strange force was asking me to run to the door. I was being called out through supernatural means. I knew right then it was Black.
"Open the door Eve. Look who it is." Lorex said.
I ran as my consciousness told me to and opened the door.
My salvation was standing there.
The same green eyes, the same white hair, the same black clothes but the different expression on his face. He smiled for just a fraction of second and barged inside right away. I followed him.
Lilith turned and looked at us, Lorex was ignorant and still drinking from his mug. I looked at black and his expressions had changed, his brows were raised a little. His blood red lips weren"t smiling that time. That was the first time I ever saw that serious look on his face.
Black walked to Lorex. He gripped that white scarf and started unwinding it from his neck. Lorex was taken by surprise as black s.n.a.t.c.hed the scarf. He could only look at black without saying a word.
Black then threw his scarf at me. The scarf travelled towards me as if it were a flying snake. I somehow caught it before it fell on ground. I didn"t know my reaction time was that fast.
I looked forward again and saw Lorex hung in mid air as Black gripped him through his shirt with his left hand. He was almost a feet above ground. I didn"t know black was that strong. Black threw him towards the backyard, shattering one of the gla.s.ses completely. He fell a few meters from the fence and that was quiet a distance, almost ten meters.
Lorex stood up, still shaken from what happened and I could see he was in pain. He had quite a few bruises.
"Save me from this monster Lilith. You said you know him, right?" he screamed from there. I could see him trembling in fear as if he had seen a ghost.
"I can"t save you honey. No one can... It"s your own fault for messing with him, though I"ve no idea how you managed to do so." Lilith said as she gulped another mouthful of the shake. I couldn"t believe how calm she was about it. I could barely believe what was happening.
Black walked towards the door and put his hand on the unbroken gla.s.s door "Sorry, I"ll fix it right away." he said in a low tone, as if he didn"t care about how he threw that guy. And then black sprang towards him in an instant. I wondered what kind of strength he possessed that allowed him to jump so far.
"But..." Lorex tried to speak but was interrupted when black punched him. That poor guy was sent flying far in the woods and that wooden fence around there broke.
Black chased after him in some incredible speed. His movements weren"t normal like before.
"I bet he"d be back in three minutes." Lilith said. I couldn"t believe how cool she was as if he didn"t see anything that had happened. It was her companion that was getting beaten down to pulp.
"How can you be so casual about it?" I asked
"Don"t worry. Black"s not gonna kill him. He"s just p.i.s.sed off for some reason." he might be p.i.s.sed off but you don"t let your anger out on any random guy.
My sight was right outside. I saw the birds flying away from the chaos. I heard the sounds of trees falling here and there and screams of Lorex. They were quiet a distance from me. I guess Lorex was trying to run away from the dangerous predator.
I wondered, was that the reason they all call him monster.
I don"t know exact time that pa.s.sed but everything went quiet. The next moment, I saw Black coming back to house holding Lorex in mid air in his left hand as if he didn"t weigh more than a feather. His brute strength was insane. My focus went towards Lorex who was unconscious. His clothes were torn and there were a lot of bruises on his body. But he didn"t seem in bad shape.
"Heal him," Black said to lilith as he threw Lorex on the same couch as hers and then he proceeded to sit on the other one.
"You can do it too you know." Lilith replied as she placed her right hand over Lorex, while still drinking her shake.
"You brought him here. It"s your responsibility." he said and turned towards me "Hi angel Eve. Missed me?"
I did miss him but I was too distressed to reply him for that.
"Why did you hurt him so much?"
"Let him wake up first." he spoke up with a smile.
Lorex laying there soon started to show movements. His bruises had all healed up. I guess that magic was being cast on him by Lilith. He woke up suddenly and looked around.
As his eyes went towards Black, his eyes widened out of fear. He trembled and went behind Lilith, holding her shoulders with his hands. I felt so much sympathy for him at that moment.
"So...."
"Let me tell you his sins. First, he ordered you to open the door as if you were his servant. I listened it from outside. Second, he was wearing my scarf, MY SCARF. Last and most important of all, he pointed a weapon at her. He frightened you and he could have hurt you." he gave that sharp look to Lorex warning him that if something like that happened again, he wouldn"t tolerate. "I"d have left him with just a few kicks for second but first and third were unforgivable."
Even if black turned into a monster out there, he did it for me. I can"t say if it was right or wrong, I can"t judge him. But his intentions were purest. He couldn"t see me being harmed.
Such a person he was. Dangerous, yet adorable.
