Across Time And Space

Chapter 119

In Yang Yun"s dream, Mingyue appeared vividly in front of him. In this dream, the two of them were walking in the mountain early in the morning. Mingyue was gathering herbs like she always does, and Yang Yun was accompanying her. They walked side by side, holding hands.

For a second, Mingyue turned to look at him. Her head blocked away from the sunlight, but he could see her smiling face clearly. The wind blew softly, and with her free hand, Mingyue tucked her hair behind her ear. She seemed to be saying something, but Yang Yun could not hear her voice.

The sky turned darker suddenly.

Mingyue turned to look at the sky. When she looked at him again, there was horror in her expression. Abruptly, Yang Yun could feel a force trying to pull his wife away from him. Yang Yun tightened up his grip around Mingyue"s wrist.

This time, he will not let her go!

However, the force was too strong. Mingyue fell backward, pulling him along with her. All of a sudden, they fell into deep water. He tried to swim up and failed. But he could only feel something pressing on his chest, causing him to have difficulties in breathing. Yang Yun looked at his wife in panic. At this time, Mingyue opened her mouth and screamed.

"Yang Yun!"

His body jerked up. Yang Yun looked around with labored breathing. When he could not see Mingyue, he started to panic.

"Yang Yun!"

Hearing someone calling up his name, Yang Yun immediately sobered up. His gaze roamed around. It was then that he realized that he was back in his room in Yang"s mansion.

Yang Yun gasped as he felt someone touching his leg. His gaze met with his mother"s worried face.

"What"s wrong with you? Another nightmare?" His mother, Liu Qing Xin, asked. She touched her son"s forehead before she moved to pick up a black cat, sitting on Yang Yun"s chest.

Yang Yun stared at Xiao Mi who nestled in his mother"s arms.

This d.a.m.n cat! No wonder he was suffocated in his dream!

As if sensing Yang Yun"s enmity, Xiao Mi turned to Yang Yun and meowed. The look on his face showed as if he had not done anything wrong. Xiao Mi blinked once, jumped off Liu Qing Xin"s embrace and walked out the room.

"Are you alright?" Liu Qing Xin sat down beside her son. Her gaze softened as she watched him.

Yang Yun turned to her mother and smiled. "I"m alright. Just the same old dream."

"What is it about?"

Yang Yun hesitated for a moment. Then he shook his head. "I don"t remember much," he lied. Yang Yun knew that his mother would worry if he told her that every day, he would dream of Mingyue.

Liu Qing Xin sighed. "Young General Jiang is here to visit you."

Hearing the general"s name, Yang Yun, sat up straight. He hissed when the wound on his waist started to hurt again.

"Careful!" Liu Qing Xin moved to help her son. "You stay here. I will ask the general to come here."

"He"s my superior."

"You"re injured! You"re a patient," his mother pointed out. "Young General Jiang would not mind this. He"s here to visit you after all."

Yang Yun nodded weakly. "Help me to dress up."

After a while, a servant led Jiang Xiao Xian into Yang Yun"s room. Subconsciously, Yang Yun sat up straight. "General!" he greeted.

Jiang Xiao Xian lifted his hand. "You don"t have to be so formal. Relax. I heard you"re injured. I"m only here to visit you," the general said. He turned to Yang Yun"s mother and greeted the elder politely.

"I"ll leave both of you to talk. I"ll ask the servant to bring in some refreshment later," Liu Qing Xin said before she exited the room.

"General Jiang. Forgive me. I didn"t know you"re back from the Northern Border." Yang Yun said after his mother had retreated.

"I have been back for a couple of weeks," Jiang Xiao Xian said. He glanced at a stool, pulled it towards Yang Yun"s side, and sat down. "You"ve been staying home, recuperating. I guess you did not know what happened in the capital."

"What happened?"

"I"ll tell you next time," Jiang Xiao Xian said. He gave Yang Yun a look over, and his gaze stopped at his stomach area. "I heard from my grandfather that your injury is quite bad. How are you feeling now?"

"Still recovering," Yang Yun said. His body went stiff as the young general mentioned his injury. He knew right away what was the General"s purpose of coming to visit him.

Jiang Xiao Xian tilted his head sideways and stared at his subordinate. For a minute, it seemed as the two of them were engaged in a staring contest. "So tell me," Xiao Xian spoke. "What happened back in the mountain?"
