Chapter 106: Chapter 105: It’s an RTS Game?
It didn’t take long before that sentence blew up
The drama hungry players left many comments underneath Chen Mo’s Weibo.
“Always copied, never bested! Crazy!”
“Hahaha, Emperor Dynasty Entertainment are still in their own happy place when the real Azeroth is releasing soon. Do you think they are worried?”
“You got them right on the mouth!”
“I feel bad for Emperor Dynasty. They were going to generate hype for the game, but all it took was one sentence from Chen Mo to draw all the attention away from them. Hahaha.”
“Why do I feel that Chen Mo planned this from the start?”
“I can imagine what Emperor Dynasty was planning. Hasn’t Zen released a game called Seven Heroes lately? Then Emperor Dynasty decided to make Ain World to borrow some hype of Azeroth for itself. They even did it while Chen Mo didn’t have the ability to make large scale RPG games. But who would’ve thought that Chen Mo already saw this come! Just look at this sketch, it’s more than enough for Emperor Dynasty to start sweating!”
“But I’m worried. Is Chen Mo able to make a large scale RPG?”
“Previous poster, can Chen Mo make casual games? Can he make mobile card games? Can he make tabletop games? Every time you thought he couldn’t do it, didn’t he do exactly that?”
“But RPGs cost a lot of money!”
“Chen Mo lacking money? Is that a joke?”
“Yeah, Chen Mo isn’t lacking any money at all, every single game he makes is insanely popular, how could he be lacking money? How could you even say that after being drained of money by I Am MT.”
“Wow, I thought there would be two to three years before I could play Azeroth, but turns out it’s already in production. I’m so excited!”
“I just wanna be a Tauren running around in the plains…”

The number of reposts and comments on Chen Mo’s Weibo was growing rapidly. Five hundred, one thousand, two thousand…
On the other hand, Emperor Dynasty Entertainment’s Weibo was much more quiet. The most infuriating thing was that the best comment was ‘Always copied, never bested’!
It even became a trending topic, how could Emperor Dynasty not be mad?
Not only were the drama waiting fans surprised by the Weibo, it even surprised industry professionals!
Many video game designers were getting stressed from their past experiences with Weibo. It didn’t concern them too much while he was still in the mobile game market, but does this mean he’s entering the PC ecosystem? And he’s starting off with an RPG, was he trying to contend with Emperor Dynasty Entertainment and Zen Entertainment?
Wow, he’s really not afraid of anything!
This was also extremely time sensitive, first was Seven Heroes from Zen Entertainment, then Ain World from Emperor Dynasty Entertainment, then followed by Chen Mo’s World of Azeroth?
They were announced so close together it was hard to tell who would be winning and losing!
Zen Entertainment had experience from Legend of the Sword.
Emperor Dynasty Entertainment had a promotion using the Emperor Dynasty Gaming Platform.
Chen Mo… didn’t have anything, but it was Chen Mo!
This guy was incredible right off the bat. He only bullied others, there was n.o.body bullying him yet!
Performance like this was incredible, and difficult to believe if you didn’t see it with your own eyes.
The drama loving fans were now extremely satisfied, and Chen Mo managed to siphon a lot of attention to the World of Azeroth.
—
Much discussion had started within the videogame industry.
The biggest question was what type of game was Chen Mo planning?
So far Chen Mo only released a sketch and a super pretentious comment.
Many players thought that Chen Mo must be making an MMORPG, as the content of World of Azeroth would fit an RPG so well it was practically designed for it.
But many industry professionals didn’t but it, mainly because of how demanding the content for an RPG was, could Chen Mo manage that?
Chen Mo had also done some bait and switch in the past. He released an animated series as well as a website before he released I Am MT, but ended up releasing a hundred something megabyte mobile game.
Similarly, Chen Mo only released a sketch this time, who could be sure that he wasn’t going to make another scammy card game?
However, there were also some industry professionals who thought Chen Mo would actually make an RPG as he now had the money and user base. Combined with an expansive fictional world and some hard work, it wasn’t out of the line to make an RPG that would go down in history.
It wouldn’t make too much sense to make another scammy mobile game. Just as the boy who cried wolf, the players would eventually get tired of this antics, ruining a fictional world as well done as World of Azeroth was.
There were many different opinions, with no consensus.
—
Chen Mo was tight-lipped about the matter. No matter how many times the fans asked, he wasn’t revealing anything.
At the same time, the development was going on as planned.
After Su Jinyu finished another batch of concept art, Chen Mo found another company to outsource the 3D model production.
Of course Chen Mo provided their scales, actions and other specifications as Chen Mo wanted to best represent the uniqueness of each unit.
The details on character models didn’t have as high requirements as RPG games, as most of the time players would be playing from a top-down view of the world. There weren’t any ‘gentlemen requirements’ such as being able to peek at the panties of the models.
There were hundreds of models including the units and monsters in Warcraft. If the models for terrain and buildings were included as well, it was going to be quite big, but still within the realms of acceptance.
Other than that, Chen Mo also had Zheng Hongxi rewrite the story for the Frozen Throne four more times.
The story would directly affect things such as the terrain, level design, enemy locations. Chen Mo had to meticulously adjust them one by one to make sure it fit with the story.
Music and audio effects weren’t big problems either. He could outsource the dubs and sound effects, and Chen Mo could compose a rough BGM to be finished by professionals.

The drama hungry players were eagerly waiting for Seven Heroes, Ain World, and Warcraft.
On the fifth next month, Seven Heroes would enter public beta.
The date for Ain World’s public beta was also confirmed, on the tenth next month.
