-That Night-"Buah that was good eating." Gray exhaled with a full belly. Empress was just as content but managed to keep it in. "To bad Sabrina couldn"t join us for this meal. I think she would have really liked it."
"If you say so." Hilda shrugged. She didn"t know the woman much, but knew she had ties to her dad and his undercover work. It would be nice to talk with her, but that was it. "So you two a thing?" Hilda asked wiggling her eyebrows. "I wonder he has been up to."
"Haha maybe. I have no idea. Trying to move that way anyway. Just possible people wanting to go in that direction. For now everyone is getting to know each other and what they want. Kind of casual." He smiled faintly at Hilda. "Oh thanks for keeping up with the messages." Gray answer with a smile.
"No problem. You cannot believe how great it was to receive them during the few expeditions. Pokemon Ranger life had gotten stale after that incident." Hilda sat across for him and sipped her drink. "We were forced on light duty. Permanent light duty, I turned in my resignation. As well as Tricia." A sour look was on Hilda"s face. "A Ranger was all I wanted to be and that was taken away."
"Just give it some time and try again. You can always move to a new region." Hilda flinched at that statement. Gray gave her a pat on the hand before walking over and pulling out her leg. "Let me check it again. This time should be the last."
"Ok." Hilda said quietly.
"Woom!" Gray cycled a small trace of aura on her leg. Everything showed it was fine with no traces from the toxin in the bubble that appeared.
"You are completely fine. Just need to get back into old habits. The doubt you are having is inside your mind." Gray said softly. "No need to go in full tilt though. Try a new pa.s.sion or revisit old ones that were placed on hold for Ranger duties."
"Maybe." Hilda rubbed her leg abstenmindley. Looking over to the double doors, she frowned a little. "Haaa, her comes Mrs.Buzzkill. Gray let me introduce you to my mom, Captain Surge of the Kanto Marine Medium Base."
A woman about 6 foot tall even walked in with combat boots on. Her hair was styled in a bob cut. Piercing green eyes that exuded strength and respect. Her tanned skin was something"s to notice with her golden hair. She had on military pants but a regular t-shirt. A lighting bolt on the front in black.
"Hi, you must be Gray." Mrs.Buzzkill said.
"Yes I am Mrs.Buzzkill." Gray shook her hand with a smile and pulled back from the strong grip she had. It was laced with aura power.
"Pfftt, this is my mom Gray." Hilda smacked his shoulder. "Be nice at least."
"I am being nice. You called her Buzzkill first." Gray smirked. "Anyway, hi Captain Surge. Is that better?"
"Heh, not bad." Captain Surge said. "It is getting late, maybe talk in the morning yes?" Gray and Hilda nodded reluctantly. Gray went to the room Hilda showed him earlier to rest. While Hilda had a much needed argument with her mother.
-Next morning in the Aren
"Hmm, what"s it gonna be kid?" Captain Surge asked. "Take me on now and come back for your badge or let her fight you instead?"
"Tch, fine." Gray stepped into the arena. His look was amused at the idea of fighting. Something both he and Hilda found doing their chatting. They enjoyed taunting one another. When they talked last night it felt even better. "Sure you want this Hilda?" She gave him a nod. "Then do not whine when I beat the breaks off yah." Gathering his aura, Gray felt a shift in his soul. "You are not ready. Sleep for now." The Pokesoul of Charizard had been getting restless as of late. Changing his mind, he released Bedrill instead to fight. "It will not hurt to be a little caution even with the full bill of health.
"Bzzzz!" Ready! The Pokemon did a little lap before hovering in front of him.
"Consider this your debut match. We are going to take it easy a little on your power." Gray gave the insect a little pat. Nodding in understanding, he used fusion. "Pokefusion." It was a calm process unlike most of the others. Bedrill exude a strange since of control with itself. No energy was wasted on its end.
Encased in light, Gray supplement a little bit of his aura for the process. On his wrists, a dark blue carapace appeared. With a slight rotation of energy he could feel needles trying to come out. Over his chest a type of carapace armor protected his heart and upper portion of his lungs. Around his back were 10 thin insect wings. They moved on their own for a bit if he didn"t concentrate. Around his head was a helmet in the shape of Beedrill"s own. Covering over his eyes were a thin red membrane. with a thought they receded before he blinked them back. Two antenna on top of his head picked up changes in the area.
"Haaaa." Gray took a calm breath. Bedrill just relaxed itself and gave control over completely. "A half shift seems perfect."
"Go Electrode!" Hilda threw out her ultra ball.
"Elec.. elec.." Fight time? The Pokemon then rolled a little towards her. Hilda gave a smile. She stopped it with her foot. They then fused. "Bzzzt, bzzt!" Two waves of electricity with around her body.
Around Hilda"s neck, a metal band appeared. The same bands could be seen around her wrist and ankles. Every few second the air would hum and electrical sparks would generate. If one paid close attention, they could see thin little sheets of aura shifting above her skin.
"Trainer"s are you ready?" Captain Surge asked both of them. They gave her a nod each. "Then commence the first Elite round match!" She jumped back and out the way. A few of the Gym aides were in the stands watching intently.
Tricia shifted her feet on the floor for a brief second. "Bzzzt!" A charge of electricity jumped up her leg. "Doom!" A sound then rang out as a sheet of aura solidified around her.
"Hmm." Gray looked on intrigued. Slowly he gathered his aura to boost himself in the speed department. "Agility!" With a dash he was at Hilda instantly. "Let"s try a probing attack. False Swipe!" With a slight glow he moved his arm in a quick jab.
"Huh!" Tricia jumped back. "He couldn"t have known what happen already." He didn"t pursue her at all. "His senses are sharp but not that sharp. I knew fighting against him would be fun!"
"Bzzt!" Where she just stood a disturbance could be felt in the air. Gray looked shocked at the location. "Bzzt!" It calmed down immediately after.
"Tch!" Gray crouched low and sent another jab out. "What is this move of her"s?"
"Bzzt!" Tricia moved a little to the side away from the attack. A small disturbance in the air could be felt again.
"Tch!" Gray felt his head was getting fuzzy. That is when he heard the noise distinctly. Something was ringing around him. "Hup!" He jumped in the air and started to fly. For a few seconds the buzzing stopped. "What was that? There is something mixed in the electricity.
Tricia shifted her feet again and again. "Bzzzt, bzzzt, bzzt." The humming returned once more. As if it was able to hone in on his location.
"Grr!" Gray felt a headache coming on. His antennae moved back and forth. Focusing with his eyes, he picked up the problem. All across the floor, several rods were in place. Hilda created a type of current with her movements. It amplified with the rods changing the frequency. "Ha!" Grunting, Gray used Poison Sting. From his wrists a several set"s of needle"s flew out.
"Ting, ting, ting, ting!" A majority of the needles. .h.i.t against the sheets around Hilda. Only two made it to her skin. Even then, just the tip entered. Not enough for the poison to take effect.
"Bzzzt!" Hilda sent a blast of electricity towards Gray. She had used Thundershock. The rapid arcs of lighting caught him in the chest. The frequency kicked up a notch causing Gray to slow down.
"Ughh!" Grunting in pain Gray felt himself slide back some. Digging his heels in the dirt, he braced himself. It was just in time as he saw Hilda right in front with her fist c.o.c.ked back. It was wrapped in electric aura. "Now or never!"
"Hmm." Hilda didn"t stop her attack, but she was intrigued. "Thunder Punch!"
"Whaam!" She hit Gray so hard, his wings fluttered off beat. The carapace around his chest immediately receded. "Bzzzt!" The Light Screen around Hilda vanished giving her additional power. She released in a discharge rocking Gray"s body even further.
"Raaahh!" Gray howled in pain. Bedrill took the time to inform him he was finished with its task.
"It is done!" All the damage Gray had taken a good portion was stored inside his body thanks to Bedrill. It had used Bide as soon as the battle started.
"Tch!" Gray clicked his teeth. He stepped back a little with his left leg and centered his gravity. The discharge causing his muscles to burn, as he forced the paralyze. "Bide!" With a swing back so strong, Captain Surge had place her aura around her daughter.
"No!" Wrapping Hilda up, she hoped it was in time. She caught sight of Gray pulling back a little. "Whew!" She sighed a little. "Glad their is no malice between the two. This would have been bad."
"Whaaam!" Even with pulling back the attack was still devastating. The shockwave sent Hilda flying out of the ring and destroyed Gray"s arm up to the elbow. His fused stated coming undone over 80% of his body.
"Ugghh that was really to much. Holy c.r.a.p your ability is dangerous Bedrill!" Gray said. He hurried to use the move Rest and fell asleep. His body fixing itself under the move"s effect.
"The winner of the round, Gray!" One of the aides declared. Captain Surge was seeing to her daughter.
"Ha she is fine just winded." Captain Surge looked back and saw Gray took the time to Recover. She then looked to the side at his Pokemon who watched the surroundings intently. "He has trust in them. That is good." Hilda stirred awake in her arms. "Wakey wakey."
"Ugh that was intense." Hilda rubbed her gut and stood up. She looked at her mom in disappointment. "You disqualified me by interfering."

"I rather you didn"t get hit by that. Even with him pulling back and me helping, that was still enough to cause a problem." Captain Surge did not apologize. She understood where her daughter was coming from but she was a mother before anything else. "He does not seem upset by it." She pointed to Gray.
"Tch fine." Hilda walked back into the arena and waited. A few minutes went by and Gray woke up.
"Ahh that was something else. Take a break Bedrill." Gray undid the fusion from the bug Pokemon. It tapped the pokeball and returned itself. "Definitely need to be careful when using him."
"How do you wish to proceed?" Hilda asked. "I am technically disqualified due to my mothers help. You can receive the badge without having to continue."
"We can just count that as the regular badge. Let"s do another round and count it as the Elite one. Deal?" Gray offered. Hilda beamed with a smile.
"That sounds great!" She reached into her side pouch and let out a yellow pokeball. "Go Amphros!"
"Bzzzt!" The Pokemon appeared and generated an electrical field. Gray felt the increase in it"s power level at that. The Pokemon had done what he usually done, it swallowed the aura energy in the surroundings. With the electricity in the area, it was much easier for it to do so. Its tail orb touched Hilda on the head and they fused instantly.
"Woom!" When the light cleared A very powerful fusion remained.
On top of Hilda"s head were two cones. "Whirl, whirl." They spun in place pulling in electricity. She had a tail in the back that contained a thicker orb than before. Inside arcs of Lighting could be seen. Her skin had traces of both fur and a type of hide Gray thought.
"Well then.. I guess this is a good as time as any." Gray turned to look at Empress. "Come on."
"Yaay!" Empress ran forward with her hands in the air waving. "My turn!"
"Huh. Gray she is a female right?" Hilda asked.
"Yeah she is." Gray rubbed Empress on the head gently. "She is also my most trusted companion and friend." Wrapped in psychic energy they fused. "Pokefusion!"
