An Interview with a Playboy 14.2
Without further ado.
“What? Manila Tribunal? How the h.e.l.l did you know my number?” Dex demanded from the reporter who called his cellphone.
Since he arrived at the country after he want away for a long time, he received countless calls from various reporters who are aiming t get an interview but he only agreed to one. The news program of home channel of PBA wherein he only allowed a short period of time for the interview and did not even answer some of the questions. It was necessary for publicity of his return to the basketball scene, so he reluctantly agreed, much to his reluctance. The requests are unending, it kept on bothering him that he’s starting to get p.i.s.sed off.
“I won’t agree to any interview. Please respect my privacy.” That’s it and he threw his cellphone at the pa.s.senger seat of his car then he went out from it. He won’t care whoever calls him again.
Dex went inside the sports gym where the practice game of team was being held at. In few moments, he’s already perspiring all over from the game. When he took a rest, a man in late thirties sat beside him.
“Hi, I’m Pete Regalado,” he smiled as he introduced himself.
“Reporter?” he sarcastically asked before drinking Gatorade.
“No. A fan and a producer.”
“Producer? Are you planning to recruit me to be a celebrity?” he joked sarcastically. He never got used to speaking with people he doesn’t know.
Pete lightly laughed. “Actually, I’m a producer of a TV magazine show. I’d like to ask if you could be our guest on our second anniversary episode.”
He snorted. “You might not be a reporter but that’s still your goal. Interview.”
“Well, you can’t help people to be interested with someone like you. First off, you have a lot of fans. You are a public figure as a basketball icon. Secondly, you are very mysterious since you don’t accept interviews. Thirdly, you are an heir of one of the richest families in the country. That’s why you can’t stop the reporters around you.”
“I don’t want to talk about myself. I don’t see why people are interested in other people’s lives. They should just take care of their all lives and not other person’s life. And do I not have the right to hide my personal life?”
“You don’t need to share everything about your personal life.”
“I don’t want anything to share with people I don’t even know.”
Pete nodded his head. “I a.s.sure you that we will not ask you any question you don’t agree with. What we really need is your presence in the show. Interview was just the second reason. Here’s my calling card. If you change your mind, there’s my contact number.”
Dex accepted the card but he planned to throw it away after he went away.
“By the way, Barkadahan Stuff is the t.i.tle of the show.”
“Barkadahan Stuff?” It rang a bell.
“Yeah. It’s a youth TV mag show. We are almost two years airing on channel three. Donald Adriatico and Jenna Castro are the hosts. Are you by little chance aware of the show?”
Jenna…
Of course, before he went away to US to rehabilitate his injury, he often watched Jenna’s TV show whenever he was sitting in his house. Every morning, he read newspapers and he often read her articles in Manila Daily Journal.
So, how was she now?
A smile slowly lined his lips.
