Chapter 1069: Death Shadow
Actually, Abrad’s trump card was much more useful than Elvis’s and Rojet’s, especially in this battle. However, the more people there were, the weaker and less effective the totem power. Hence, Abrad could only take care of his own team, and not spread the totem power to everyone else.
In another part of the battlefield, the teams led by the other three pseudo-Sanctuary powerhouses were also erupting with full power at this moment. None of them were reserving any power at all. Besides, the most intense battle was going on with the team led by Elder Sangeria of the Blood Moon Clan. Although there were only six of them, they did not lose the upper hand against the 10-odd wyrm ghosts.
Sangeria, the leader, had already awakened all the High Elven blood in his body, and even his appearance had turned into that of a High Elf. Besides, the magical wave on his body had also soared with the awakening of the bloodline. He went from a pseudo-sanctuary powerhouse to the beginner Sanctuary-level.
Besides, in terms of combat style, Sangeria had also inherited the style of the High Elves, combining magic and martial arts perfectly. He was holding a single-handed staff in his left hand and a sharp magic sword in his right. The combination of a flood of magic spells and a storm of sword attacks was hard for the wyrms to resist.
The five peak Legendary powerhouses of other forces around Sangeria also appeared to have their forms change dramatically due to a potion that Sangeria had handed to them. Their power also surged higher than usual. Among them, some of them were covered with dragon scales, some were enveloped in flames, and some even had countless hard tentacles jutting out of their backs.
The peak Legendary powerhouses were also dignified figures who probably wouldn’t have gotten themselves into this state during normal circ.u.mstances. However, now that they were facing a powerful enemy, having to make a choice between death and maintaining their image, they chose to forgo their image.
The Blood Moon Clan had been researching the technique of genetic mixing, and the short-term fusion of bloodlines could be considered a by-product of their research. Fortunately, they were all peak Legendary powerhouses. Otherwise, the bodies of those below the Legendary-realm would probably have exploded.
However, the peak Legendary powerhouses were now grimacing. Clearly, they were uncomfortable. After all, it was a forced change of bloodline, and they would never want to experience that pain again.
The other two pseudo-Sanctuary powerhouses, Cardson and Gatana, were the weakest of the six. Hence, they were struggling in the battle against the wyrm ghosts. When all was said and done, Gatana was a descendant of the ancient royal family, and thus had some powerful magical equipment in hand. However, Cardson had been in pursuit of food all his life. Apart from hunting for ingredients, he rarely paid attention to fighting against others. Hence, it was a little difficult for him to fight in the battle.
Fortunately, the Gilded Kingdom’s fleet received news that several battles.h.i.+ps remaining from the original battle and a dozen more had just arrived to support them. The fleet moved quickly to Cardson, attracting the attention of many wyrm ghosts in the process. Some even left Cardson and others to pounce onto the battles.h.i.+ps of the Gilded Kingdom.
In the previous battle, the battles.h.i.+ps of the Gilded Kingdom had suffered a big loss, but that didn’t mean that their battles.h.i.+ps were too weak. The losses had occurred only because the enemy they had faced had been too strong. However, their enemies were now the wyrm ghosts. Even the battles.h.i.+ps that had been through a ma.s.sacre of countless sea beasts and dominated the Endless Ocean had begun to show their might.
The numerous mana cannons were shot at the wyrm ghosts. The cannons that had the girth of a bucket seemed to have become thinner, but the vast number of mana cannons could make up for that flaw. The Gilded Kingdom had clearly invested a lot into the operation as they used the Legendary magical crystals freely like they didn’t cost anything, forming a large net of mana cannons that mercilessly shredded the wyrm ghosts into bits.
The wyrm ghosts were essentially somewhat similar to Vengeful Spirits as their bodies could change or turn into a solid state to allow themselves to be immune to most magic damage. However, the cannon shots were condensed purely from mana, and were in between the two forms of fluid and solid. Hence, it was the nemesis of the wyrm ghosts.
Of course, if there were only one or two Magical Crystal Cannons, they wouldn’t cause much damage even if they penetrated the bodies of the wyrm ghosts. However, the Gilded Kingdom’s fleet went all out to launch all the cannons they had. The wyrm ghosts that were hit did not just have their bodies penetrated, they were also instantly strangled into nothingness by the countless cannons. There was no longer a possibility of reconstruction, either.
However, the battles.h.i.+ps of the Gilded Kingdom had to face more than just those wyrm ghosts. Although there was the suppression of Elder Zumar, the power of the terrifying existence sealed under Cage Island still dominated the sea around the island. The countless black vortices were tearing at the solid steel hull.
When everyone was in a tough battle, Lin Li, who was in the sky above Cage Island, couldn’t relax, either. He was facing Antora who was known as the Death Shadow. Even though Antora no longer had peak Sanctuary-level strength, and his strength was at level-27, he was in the special form of a ghost, making him hard to deal with.
Lin Li pointed the Helios’ Scepter forward, causing his entire Domain World to slam against Antora’s ma.s.sive body. If it had been an ordinary ancient wyrm, its bones would have broken. However, in the face of the Domain World, Antora’s body suddenly swelled up and turned into a void that seemed to be enveloping the Domain World.
Before having a clear understanding of Antora’s abilities, Lin Li did not want to let a Sanctuary powerhouse of the same level as him invade his Domain World. Hence, faced with such a situation, he had no choice but to put away his Domain World and raise the Helios’ Scepter to cast a magic storm made of different magic spells at Antora’s empty body.
It was not Lin Li’s first time dealing with ghosts, so he was fairly clear on their characteristics. When a ghost condensed to take on a physical form, it would have extremely high magic immunity, and its defense against physical attacks would become very low. When a ghost turned into nothingness, it would be completely immune to physical attacks, but the magic damage it sustained would also be the highest.
Hence, such a ghost was not really something very difficult to deal with. After all, its physical immunity and magic immunity would not exist at the same time. It would also have to switch between forms. In comparison, Lin Li had also met any creatures that were worse, such as the Lord Devourer that could devour everything and the Whispering G.o.d that had extremely high immunity to both physical and magical damage.
Of course, the Death Shadow Antora was a Sanctuary powerhouse that was near the peak of that realm. At this point, any creature would go through a drastic change. Hence, if anyone saw Antora as just a ghost, they would be in trouble.
Lin Li waved his hand to stir up a magic storm, which then crashed towards Antora whose body had turned into a void. Ordinary ghosts would turn into true nothingness upon contact with it. Hence, if there were ordinary ghosts now, their forms would change immediately and gain strong magic immunity.
However, in the face of the magic storm Lin Li cast, Antora did not condense its body like ordinary ghosts. Instead, it expanded and almost covered the sky above Cage Island. The sky above the sea area seemed to have been covered by a darkness which did not allow a single ray of light to come through.
With Antora’s action, the sea also seemed to have sunk into darkness. However, some light shone on the surface, and the magic storm that Lin Li had stirred up also blasted over with a deafening roar at the same time.
However, after rus.h.i.+ng into the darkness, the powerful magic storm did not emit any light. It was as if a stone was cast into a bottomless abyss; it was unknown if it had been devoured. The magic storm simply disappeared, and even the spiritual connection between Lin Li and the countless magic spells was broken.
The darkness that blocked the sky was none other than Antora’s Domain World. It was a world that had been shrouded in darkness and where darkness was the only Law left. Other than the Laws of light, all other Laws could also exist in this world, but they would be overshadowed by Darkness.
That was also the origin of Antora’s t.i.tle, Death Shadow. All the enemies engulfed by this Darkness World would fall into permanent slumber and eventually be completely a.s.similated by the darkness. It was said that no enemy had ever been able to escape from the world of darkness until Antora’s death. In its lifetime, it had engulfed countless powerful enemies in the world of darkness. The 12 Golden t.i.tans that ambushed it had paid a great price to kill it even during an ambush.
When Antora released the world of darkness, a ma.s.sive black claw emerged from the darkness before scratching hard at Lin Li who was still in midair. Its ma.s.sive black claw seemed to be able to pick up the entire island. Resembling an inverted mountain peak, it broke through the air with a whistling sound.
Lin Li didn’t even have to try. He could tell from the changes in the s.p.a.ce Laws that the dragon’s claw was not only clutching at something. It even sealed the entire s.p.a.ce when it fell, making it impossible to move away using s.p.a.ce Power. The s.p.a.ce that the claw enveloped seemed to have suddenly become frozen. The surroundings seemed empty, but Lin Li who was outside could feel that the s.p.a.ce seemed to have been cast in steel at this moment.
With Lin Li’s current ability and his mastery of the World Laws, it was not impossible to tear open this s.p.a.ce. However, Lin Li did not choose to dodge even though the claw’s power seemed to be enough to rip the world apart. Instead, he stood still in the air, and raised the Helios’ Scepter without dodging.
In fact, when the black wyrm claw grabbed out, Elder Zumar and the others who were trying to strengthen the seal were the most worried ones on the battlefield. Of course, Elder Zumar and the rest were not worried about Lin Li’s safety, but about being exposed to Antora’s attack by Lin Li.
Although Elder Zumar was not weak, and could face Antora alone, he still had to deal with the existence under Cage Island in order to ensure that his people could safely go to repair the Alchemy Array. If he were to get attacked by Antora now, he definitely would not be able to ensure the safety of his people even if he himself might not get injured.
Hence, Elder Zumar had been watching the battle in the sky above him right from the beginning, feeling even more nervous than Lin Li. He was still skeptical about the ability of Lin Li, the young Sanctuary powerhouse. Even if he was much stronger than pseudo-Sanctuary powerhouses, he might not be a match for the Death Shadow Antora. He didn’t think that Lin Li and the rest who had come to their rescue would really go all out. After all, the Gilded Kingdom and the Tower of Dusk had never been that harmonious with each other.
However, Elder Zumar didn’t expect Lin Li to show no intention of dodging Antora’s attack, and the young mage even raised his staff against the huge black dragon’s claw. As he raised the staff, the Domain World around Lin Li became distorted at this moment. Immediately afterwards, rays of colorful light darted at the gemstone at the top of the scepter. In the blink of an eye, the jewel became as dazzling as the sun.
Seeing this scene and feeling the enormous power contained in it, Elder Zumar’s face turned sullen immediately. Even though Lin Li was a true Sanctuary powerhouse, in the eyes of Elder Zumar who had stepped into the Sanctuary-realm for hundreds to thousands of years, he was still a junior.
