Today was destined to be a busy day, especially for those now a.s.sembled at the Hall of Governance. As such, many different significant characters from all backgrounds arrived at a rather early hour and had formed groups with fellow a.s.sociates to discuss its proceedings. The scene on the topmost floor of the Hall of Governance now one of liveliness, many times different from its typical silent atmosphere. These people stood within what seemed to be a garden of sorts with a decorated fountain of clear water, some even seated in luxury chairs as they eyed the surrounding personnel.
Suddenly, a few of these individuals turned their sights towards the elevator as they heard a sound coming from it, welcoming a new party"s arrival.
Not long after, the group that entered this garden was none of than a group of young men and women, each seeming no different from a 19 and 20-year-olds. They each had a unique character and walked with a kind of weight that many others lacked. Soon, they had found a nice s.p.a.cious section to rest until the time of the meeting.
The few who noticed them couldn"t help but show different expressions as a few whispers began to sound around the garden.
"Hey, look... isn"t that Leo Morison and Julie Wester? I"ve heard that they were both sent to two separate camps. why would they be here at such a time?" One skinny man asked curiously.
"What do you know? They are the ones involved in this meeting, speak not of their already troublesome affairs, they"ve even brought outsiders into our domain..." A beard man said while looking at the group.
"Hmm? You mean to say that those brats around them aren"t from the City of Hope?" The skinny man asked again.
"Right, from what I"ve gathered from yesterday"s rumors, they are most likely from the outside, it"s highly likely that they are remnants from some humans who didn"t make it us to this s.p.a.ce..." The bearded man said.
"Oh, survivors who could even live despite the current s.h.i.+thole that our world has transformed into, they must be quite strong..." The skinny man said with flas.h.i.+ng eyes.
"Maybe... this meeting should be quite interesting. Even characters such as that Razel had come back from his post. Look over there, heh, even the Anderson"s favored young master is already in full attendance," The bearded man said with a strange look, pointing out Razel before he fixed his sights on the distant Mark.
At this time, Mark was seated in a crowd. He sat down at ease as if he was unconcerned about the world as he spoke with a few high-cla.s.s figures, but if one looked closely behind his shades, they would notice that his eyes were fixed directly upon Evan"s and Leo"s group.
His eyes shone in a l.u.s.tful light when he saw the gorgeous Layla, Breya, and Emilia, as well as his supposed to be fiancée in the mix. Chatting and smiling without a care in the world.
"Hmph! I"ll let them be happy for now, sooner or later, I"ll have them all for myself. Heh... I can"t wait to see the looks on their faces after this meeting," Mark thought to himself with sinister-looking eyes, before he fixed his mood and focused on the individuals around him.
As if they sensed something, Evan"s party looked at Mark in the corner, feeling his animosity; they couldn"t help but show strange looks on their faces as they spoke.
"Ha, that fellow sure is persistent, it looks as if he doesn"t know when to let go of a grudge, don"t you think he reminds us of Micheal, Evan?" Joe said with a light laugh as he nudged Evan"s shoulder.
Evan looked at Joe and replied, "Haha, you"re right, he does indeed have Micheal"s aura, but there"s a difference between the two..."
Joe, hearing this smirked and spoke, "Oh, you mean that Micheal acted as if he was moving with some purpose, but this guy is more like a silly young master from fiction?"
When Evan heard this, he chuckled, not replying, as Joe said pretty much what he meant. Layla and the others giggled at this, but there were a few who didn"t seem to be able to take Mark"s presence so lightly.
Leo and Julie had an ugly look on their faces, especially when they saw Mark"s face was fixed at an angle as if he was staring at them in silence.
Leo even noticed that other than Mark, a few other top-cla.s.s individuals were looking at him and Julie with a sneer and cold looks.
On one side was a woman in her late twenties with similar features to Julie, dressed in fine, elegant clothing. Not too far away from her was the familiar Manager Paulson, he sat by the side of a black man that wore an Englishman"s hat and shades. He even wore dark gloves over his hands and sat with his legs crossed as he smoked.
"Alia Wester and that Vawn Cramerton. It"s as I"ve feared today won"t be such an easy day..." Leo thought to himself with a sigh, he didn"t want unnecessary trouble, but trouble always finds its way no matter his efforts to avoid it.
Julie trembled slightly, but Leo looked at her and sighed before he whispered to her, "Julie, it seems we"re going to have to rely on luck today, I"m sorry..."
When Julie heard this, she looked at Leo"s face with a slightly sad look, but as if she decided something, she gritted her teeth showing firm eyes as she grabbed his arm.
Leo was a bit stunned at this; he didn"t think she"d do such a foolish act in this kind of setting. He even looked and saw that Alia had snorted with an icy glare in her eyes as the others chuckled. The cold look on Mark"s face turned even colder as if he became a glacier, causing many others who weren"t privy to the scene, to notice the sudden happenings.
Leo looked at her and was about to say something, but Julie gave him a look that forced him to keep his mouth shut as she spoke, "I want no regrets..."
Leo, hearing this felt warmed, he knew that if he kept rejecting her, it wouldn"t do good, especially if he called himself a man.
He gripped her small palms firmly, covering it with his larger hand, and he spoke, "Since you are willing to do this, then I don"t care either, we"ll face whatever h.e.l.l we have to together..."
Julie felt teary eyes at his words, but as she was a tough character to begin with, she didn"t even let a single drop flow from her eyes, she merely nodded and rested her head on his shoulder.
Razel looked at this scene with a smile as he thought, "Tsk, about time..."
Like Razel, even Irene and Oron couldn"t help but smirk at this sigh, their thoughts unknown to those around them as they glanced at each other.
Evan, Joe and the others had also noticed this, but they didn"t say anything. Layla had a look of worry on her face, she tugged Evan"s sleeves and looked at him with a pair of bewitching eyes as she spoke, "Evan, will you..."
Evan knew what she was going to ask; he pinched her nose, causing her to cry out, "Ouch! Hey... that hurt you know!"
Evan smirked at her, replied, poked her cheek as he spoke, "Fine-fine! I"ll be nice, as for your earlier worries, don"t mind it, nothing will happen with us around..."
When Layla heard this, her eyes brightened as she felt better. Evan held her slender waist, causing her to feel even more warmth and no longer worry over it, even the strange looks from those in the surroundings didn"t trouble her.
Rick looked at this and shook his head, he sighed, thinking when he"ll get like this with Emilia. Speaking of her, he glanced at her from the corner of his eyes but was suddenly shocked, when his eyes unknowingly met hers, it even seemed that she was boldly looking at him as when she saw his look, Emilia even winked.
Rick"s heart sped up, but he didn"t do anything, he sensed from the other side, a substantial amount of hatred was beginning to rise from Joe.
Rick didn"t want to push his luck just yet, he glanced at Breya and crushed, "When is she going to hurry up and deal with the fatso?"
Unaware of Rick"s thoughts, Breya merely focused on her surroundings, soon her eyes stared at the large door at the end of the room. As if everyone felt something, they all did the same, as soon after a loud sound was heard.
The door opened with a loud creak as a bright wave of light shone from behind it before fading, revealing the scene of a conference room with many different chairs surrounding a large circular table.
Soon, a robust-looking man in his late fifties had appeared, dressed in formal wear with many batches on his shoulders and chest. At his side was a beauty in her late twenties, she had fine curves, a heart-shaped face with rounded eyes and low bridge nose, dressed in a seductive looking secretary dress.
The eyes of everyone firstly fixed on the middle-aged man before falling onto the beauty, who walked forward and spoke with a soft voice, "Good morning everyone, as you all know, I am Wilma. I sincerely welcome you all to today"s council meeting."
The air here changed, as now, everyone had different glints in their eyes, ready to see the events that were about to unfold.
