Chapter 1232: Entering the Cemetery Again (Part 1)

Lex and the mages from Holy Rock City watched Daliang City from above with gaping mouths.
Common floods were no less powerful than magic spells, especially when the waves were tens of meters high. Floods of such force were capable of bending steel. Any magical equipment or siege engines below were wrecked by the flood.
Due to the emergence of the cemetery of the giant, the surrounding areas of Daliang City were turned into basins. The Holy See had never expected this terrain would contribute to such lethal calamity.
Suddenly, seawater flooded into the northern terrain of Daliang City. Most of the water pooled there. Anything that had not been put into s.p.a.ce equipment was wrecked by the flood. The armies below all suffered ma.s.sive casualties.
Anyone who had survived was devastated by fear. They were afraid because of the descriptions and stories regarding the wrath of G.o.d flooding the earth that were inscribed in the Holy See’s codex.
Did G.o.d just abandon us?
Countless numbers of believers had fallen in that single moment.
Even the mages in the city sighed and wondered—What is the Lord of Glory doing?
More than a million soldiers surrounded Daliang City. They were all elite troops of the Holy See. The problem was that, despite them being elite soldiers, not all of them were capable of flight.
The heavy cavalry of the Holy See was capable of taking on silver-grand swordmasters in charges consisting of up to 10,000 units. The problem was that the armor worn by the knights exceeded 100 pounds each, while the warhorses they rode were all level-two magical beasts. The horses would not have been even able to run clad in armor otherwise.
Despite being such fearsome warriors, they were not able to do anything but cry for help in the face of floods like that. Their squires had all been washed away by the floodwater and there was no one else there to help them take off their armor.
The heavy armor had special components on the outside that needed two or three squires working together to take apart. In such floods, the protective measures that would have enabled the cavalry units to resist attacks from silver-grand swordmasters had become steel coffins.
Daliang City was 500 meters above sea-level, so the city was safe from the flood. Furthermore, the thing that supported the city was none other than the cemetery of the giant. The cemetery itself was stronger than mountains made of steel, making it more than able to resist the force of the floodwater.
The two exits of the cemetery were flooded by the seawater, so for the time being, there were no fossilized G.o.ds charging in from outside.
Lex looked at the sea outside the city and did not know what to think about it. The fossilized G.o.ds would be coming at them soon enough. Even the flood was utterly incapable of taking out beings that did not need to eat or breathe.
But then again, the Holy See’s army had finally been crushed. While the Heaven Knights were tough, the demon army was there to take them on. The enemy’s elite troops all perished in the flood. Qin was safe for the time being.
The most dejected of them all was none other than Theisio. He watched with his own very eyes as his army was decimated, unable to stop it. While the three G.o.dly items had fearsome powers, they lacked weapon spirits. As such, they were unable to be opened and used to save the adherents.
“Retreat,” Theisio said to the people around him dejectedly. A group of red-robed bishops from the Pivotal Council was by his side, and all of them were in a panic.
“Lord Pope, we still have the Heaven Knights!”
“The enemy brought a flood to us. There is no way for us to win,” Theisio said to the red-robed bishops. “In the codex, it is said that the world-ending flood will arrive to punish those of impure faith…”
The red-robed bishops were speechless. They had no idea where the flood had come from. Even if they were to regroup, they would not be able to do anything to restore morale. The total number of remaining Heaven Knights and wardens equaled less than 100 thousand.
The army stationed faraway might have been over a million strong, but they were not elites, and with the flood hitting them so hard, their morale had already been totally broken.
“This is just like a spider getting entangled in its own web!” It was unknown if Theisio was blaming their G.o.d or their codex. It was unknown how many living beings had died in that flood. Everything within 1,000 miles from the Separation Sea would have been hit by the flood.
Saleen looked down from above and knew what the result must have been. He was not worried, as the forcefully opened portal would collapse before long. It was rather surprising that the flood had reached all the way to Daliang City, as he would not have been able to be so precise with his calculations.
That was the second time he had caused an accident. Just as the first one had done, it hit the Holy See very, very hard. Saleen was unable to hold himself back and laughed at that thought.
Only the northern sh.o.r.e of the Separation Sea was densely populated, as the western sh.o.r.e’s population was spa.r.s.e. The Cloudflow people kept a very small naval force at the Separation Sea which would have been destroyed in the flood.
The great head inquisitor was right below him. Saleen looked at the waters while the great head inquisitor glared at the sky. He then turned into a shadow and disappeared from the surface of the waters.
So even that old guy is gone then. There was nothing left for the Holy See in Daliang City. The tables at the battle of Daliang City had totally turned against them. Most professionals below level-five were dead from that flood, and most who remained were above level-six. Professionals at such levels had never been all that numerous.
Saleen did not go down to end the great head inquisitor. He was not disappointed. He had, after all, acquired a powerful water-type element spirit that was waiting to be refined back at Metatrin City. After that, his teacher’s magic amplifier would be completed.
As for Saleen, his own magic amplifier was also coming together. The weapon spirits powering it were ferocious, as they were none other than the 24 thunder dragons he’d had since they were young.
As such, he would have no need to wipe their memories, even when they were turned into weapon spirits. They would have been able to retain their intelligence as well. With that said, his own magic amplifier would be a formidable power.
His teacher’s magic amplifier would have its own abilities. His would-be an inherently powerful offensively-oriented equipment. The ability of the thunder dragons conjuring b.a.l.l.s of lightning was important to Saleen.
The flood had disastrous. The sky was dark and there was thunder rumbling in the clouds. All manner of lightning bolts went down to the water, dissipating before reaching the surface.
Saleen began to memorize the traits of the lightning bolts and paid extra attention to finding any b.a.l.l.s of lightning. However, there were no b.a.l.l.s of lightning to be found on the seemingly endless waters. The thunder, on the other hand, was ceaseless.
Saleen had enough time to spare and contacted Daliang City, elaborating on what had transpired. The very reason why he’d done this was so he could eventually destroy the eye of the sea. This would make him the only one left knowing the coordinates of the ocean plane.
Lex was excited to hear that Saleen had been able to find coordinates of another plane. While that ocean plane was far from powerful, it was nonetheless abundant in resources. Mining reserves of that size would make a country unimaginably powerful.
Lex possessed a powerful Metal t.i.tan which could be used for mining on that plane. With that, their respective nations would no longer have to worry about the consumption of metal. That one plane would be far richer in resources than the metal islands near the Oceanic Ice Block.
The flood stayed around for about half a month. The Holy See’s forces retreated in that time. The main battles fought at Daliang City were focused on killing the fossilized G.o.ds.
The Holy See’s people had not truly left, they had simply changed their way of doing things.
Theis...o...b..gan attempting to send forces into the cemetery as teams of explorers, mobilizing professionals of level-nine and above, as well as Heaven Knights members who were capable of going underwater. They were waiting for an opportunity 500 miles north of Daliang City.
There were no longer any fossilized G.o.ds bursting out of the water when Saleen returned to Daliang City. The city itself had become an island, requiring enemies to mobilize their navies if they wanted to hit the city.
However, when it came to naval forces, only the ones from Cloudflow were considered powerful. The Tribunal’s navy had always been under the Black Dungeon’s control. The Black Dungeon never went too deep into the battles at the cemetery of the giant.
Furthermore, it would have been impractical to send the Black Dungeon’s navy all the way to the Separation Sea.
The mages of Daliang City and Holy Rock City gathered around and discussed methods of gaining entry into the cemetery. Saleen did not attend the meeting as he was busy researching new lightning magic patterns. He did not have any mind to spare to anything other than lightning magic and rules.
The flood had drowned a sizeable portion of the Holy See’s armies, yet their most powerful soldiers had been able to escape. The holy masters and Heaven Knights had all fled. The flood hadn’t been caused by magic and therefore couldn’t affect living beings in the air.
Lex heard about things going on within the cemetery from Jalin and had no intention of entering it immediately. There were even more powerful fossilized G.o.ds within the energy barrier inside the cemetery, so many that even level-ten G.o.ds were considered common.
Only Lex would probably be able to stay unscathed if they were to enter, and that was due to the protection of G.o.d’s Ring.
Saleen and Jalin were capable of maneuvering and getting to safety with their peculiar movement skills, but that was the same as saying that they would be able to return with abundant loot. Jalin was lucky enough to bag a small number of giant bone crystals, but she would not get so lucky the next time.
Even though Saleen stayed cooped up in his Magical Element Tower, no one from Holy Rock City dared to ignore Saleen or take him out of the equation.
Lex told them straight to their faces that it was Saleen who’s caused the flood. Lex would not tell such a big lie. There were indeed types of lie detection magic in their world. If Lex were put to such tests and was found to be lying, she would lose all credibility.
Those sent from Holy Rock City were not from Prince Safilos’ side. All of them were palace mages. There were even palace swordsmen. Those two camps had always been loyal to the direct line of the royal family. Lex was closer to the throne than Prince Safilos.
Not to say that the Qin didn’t value their women, it was only that the Grukos had incredibly powerful bloodlines in terms of genetic lineage.
Even if a woman of the Grukos were married to a foreigner, their descendants would still exhibit strong traits of the Grukos, enabling them to learn all manner of secret arts of the clan.
The ones from the Holy Rock City were not in a convenient position to claim any merit after Saleen caused such a disaster. It was fortunate that the mages from the Alchemy City were all kicked out, meaning that it would be easier for the remaining parties to discuss loot distribution.
Lex said, “Saleen said that he only wanted a single piece of equipment. As for anything remaining, it shall be distributed equally among all who were able to leave the cemetery. Anyone below level-nine is forbidden to enter.”
There were no mages below level-nine from Holy Rock City. There were even three level-ten mages staying there. Otherwise, they would not have been able to withstand the Holy See’s attacks. There was nothing else those mages could have said to terms like that.
Little did they know, however, that the equipment that Saleen intended to get his hands on was none other than the moon. It was capable of conjuring lightning.
It was a powerful weapon capable of overpowering all the G.o.ds. If he were able to get his hands on that thing, the giant bone crystals would be of no value to him.
It was April and Daliang City had begun to organize the first trip into the cemetery. The external parts were all cleaned up and there were no fossilized G.o.ds capable of resurrecting anymore. The shards were all made into pieces of equipment resembling Heaven Knight armor and were distributed to the armies.
