Chapter 303: Worried (Part 2)Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
The dragon’s tooth was one of the toughest materials around, as it possessed some natural toughness. A dagger made from a dragon’s tooth was much more durable than a dagger made from metal. Under the attacks from h.e.l.l’s trial, the dragon’s tooth dagger could only hold out for less than three seconds before cracks spread throughout it like a spider web.
Seeing that Nailisi had used her dagger to block h.e.l.l’s trial, the black bishop sneered, “Hmph, such arrogance.”
Even if a divine weapon was used to block the shadow by h.e.l.l’s trial, it would also be broken. Nailisi’s dragon’s tooth dagger was only a high-grade alchemical weapon. It had been able to endure it for almost three seconds solely because of the toughness of the material. Had the dagger been crafted from normal materials, Nailisi would have been chopped into two by now.
However, in this three second window, Nailisi had already escaped to a position about twenty meters away from the black bishop. She threw the dragon’s tooth dagger, which was filled with cracks, at the black bishop, before charging forward at full speed.
The dragon’s tooth dagger produced whimpers at it sped forward, then disintegrated while at the halfway point of its trajectory. Lex had put a lot of effort into this dagger, and it had endured twenty hits in total. The dragon’s tooth was tougher than a dragon’s scales. If h.e.l.l’s trial had been hacked away at the body of a dragon, the dragon would also have bled profusely.
Woo woo…
After the dragon’s tooth dagger disintegrated, a ray of black light continued charging towards the black bishop. That was the soul of an alchemical weapon, also known as the weapon’s spirit. As the dragon’s tooth dagger had been in Nailisi’s possession for too short of a duration, the weapon’s spirit did not contain much offensive power either.
The black bishop had a wealth of combat experience. He knew that the weapon’s spirit was only a pretense, and the real offensive ability came from that woman. This woman had definitely not relied solely on a dagger to kill the two grand swordmasters.
A golden piece of holy prose flew out, cras.h.i.+ng into the weapon’s spirit. A whimper was given out, and then the weapon’s spirit disappeared into thin air. The black bishop was a little dumbfounded when he noticed that there was a scroll in the woman’s hands.
This woman, who isn’t a mage, is actually going to use a scroll?
Normal human beings who had been magic disciples in the past were indeed able to open level-1 scrolls. To a holy master like the black bishop, a level-1 scroll would do no harm to him. Furthermore, if the scrolls were opened slowly…
Nailisi did not stop. She was not a mage and did not have any magic chords. Nailisi did not care about a mage’s taboos either. So what if there was elemental disorder? Her ability to open scrolls came from the contract. Furthermore, she did not depend on scrolls for a living. She wanted to throw the elements into disorder in order to stop the black bishop’s offensive.
Bam, bi bam!
A ma.s.sive phoenix appeared in the air. While Nailisi was sprinting forward, she opened a level-5 scroll. By nature, the fire elements were already abnormally explosive, and under this extremely volatile state, the elemental power stored within the scroll became uncontrollable. All of a sudden, this phoenix grew bigger, absorbing all the available fire elements from the surrounding air in that instant.
Nailisi laid on the ground stiffly. That phoenix then turned into a fire dragon which was dozens of meters in length. This fire dragon was no longer targeting the black bishop. It simply traveled in circles, and its scales could clearly be seen.
Boom!
The fire dragon stopped growing bigger, then exploded due to all that elemental disorder. The black bishop had quick reflexes. With a swipe of that sickle in his hand, a black screen was formed, blocking all of the impact from the explosion of the fire dragon.
However, the explosion was not targeted at anyone in particular. It was simply caused by the unstable elemental power in the air. This bout of elemental disorder had caused the black bishop’s divine spell to lose its power.
A divine spell was given by the G.o.ds. However, when most divine spells were cast, they needed some cooperation from the elements as well. Fundamentally, divine spells were also magic, but they were simply reserved solely for the G.o.ds.
If a G.o.d had cast that divine spell, he would have been able to directly draw power from his religion. However, the black bishop was not a G.o.d, and he could not use the power of a religion. He could only rely on that tiny bit of power given by his G.o.d to stimulate elemental power and hence cast a so-called divine spell.
This was not anything bizarre. One thousand years ago, when the mainland had still been going through tumultuous times, elemental disorder had been created during a battle between some mages and holy masters. The elemental disorder caused the mages to lose their lives while the holy masters lost the power of their divine spells. Consequently, the holy masters were hacked to death by the warriors.
Elemental disorder brought about great damage to a mage. Since Nailisi did not possess magic chords, her mental state was only slightly affected. Then, she sprang up from the ground once more before lunging at the black bishop.
At this moment, Saleen was unable to cast spells anymore. If any spells were to be cast within this area, the consequence would the destruction of his magic chords.
Nailisi had cast a level-5 magic scroll. Within a radius of one hundred meters, all the divine spells, magic, and sword auras had been greatly affected. The only thing unaffected was Nailisi’s physical strength.
Saleen was overjoyed. This technique which Nailisi had just executed was extremely powerful. Even though it restricted his own power, Nailisi’s power was unlimited. Even if a silver grand swordmaster had been present at this moment, their strength would have only been that of a high grade swordmaster.
Any attack which left a person’s body would be torn to shreds in that elemental disorder. Saleen removed his magic s.h.i.+eld before hastily retreating.
Within that elemental disorder, the black screen barrier between Nailisi and the black bishop vibrated a few times before dispersing. Nailisi lowered her head and charged forward. Then, she saw the black bishop sneering as his sickle came cras.h.i.+ng down on her.
Nailisi realized that she would not be able to dodge this attack, as this black sickle was directly in her line of attack. This sickle, which was transformed from a scepter, was at least a partial divine weapon!
The resilient attributes of a partial divine weapon allowed it to maintain its shape and offensive ability even under elemental disorder. Even though it could not create the illusion of the black shadow, Nailisi would also be unable to dodge this blow.
Nailisi had never felt so close to death before, and her green pupils contracted urgently. All of a sudden, that bracelet on her wrist which Aini had sold to Saleen exploded with an intense light, and a colossal mirror appeared in between the black bishop and herself.
With a crack, all the magic nuclei on the bracelet were broken. In that state of elemental disorder, Nailisi had actually stimulated the level-8 spell in her bracelet – Water Mirror Guardian.
In this gigantic water mirror, a black sickle was simulated, before slas.h.i.+ng the black bishop.
Nailisi and the black bishop were too close to each other. At such a distance, any kind of attack would be able to reach terminal velocity before it hit the target. The shape of the bishop’s red pupils were also fluctuating violently, and they looked like they were going to go up in flames.
This woman! Why? Why is she able to cast a level-8 spell?
The black bishop’s sickle and the sickle reflected in the mirror crashed into each other forcefully. With a thud, the sickles broke.
The black bishop’s face went pale. Even though a partial divine weapon was not as tough as a divine weapon, it was still very difficult to break. His scepter was now broken, and he would need to expend a huge amount of materials in order to repair it. Even if he possessed the materials, he would still need help from the second judge of the inquisition. Furthermore, the elemental disorder was still present, and that woman…
The black bishop was extremely horrified of being close to Nailisi. He very much wanted to escape from the woman who could kill two grand swordmasters and open magic scrolls.
Nailisi was actually in really bad shape. She had no problems casting scrolls, but the problem was, she had stimulated the Water Mirror Guardian on her bracelet by force. That was a level-8 spell. At this moment, Saleen was a grade-4 mage, so Nailisi’s power was insufficient for stimulating this spell. She had relied on her demon’s blood to stimulate it, and at the same time, it caused her head to feel like it had been struck by a giant axe.
My head is going to crack open…
Nailisi’s mind was filled with this thought alone. With a twist of her body, she fell straight to the ground.
Nailisi’s face was planted in the snow, and she could not even think properly. Her only thought was, It would be great if Sika was here. That beast-like woman would be able to unleash her greatest strength in such a situation.
The black bishop had retreated for over thirty meters before Nailisi collapsed onto the ground. Witnessing that, he was extremely regretful. This woman has exhausted all her strength! Unfortunately, he no longer had the partial divine weapon with him. The elemental disorder was still present, and given his own power, he would not be able to disperse this effect. He would need to be at least a grade-8 professional in order to do that.
The footsteps afar were growing nearer and nearer. The black bishop decided to retreat even further in order to get out of the area which was under the effect of the elemental disorder. He simply needed to wait until his two hundred subordinates got here. That mage and the woman had lost all ability to resist, and the black bishop would not need to take this unnecessary risk.
As the black bishop made his retreat, Saleen charged forward towards Nailisi. Nailisi had collapsed onto the ground, and she looked like she was in great pain. Suddenly, Saleen felt a pain in his heart.
Nailisi is desperately fighting for her life!
Saleen had all along been wary of Nailisi, afraid that she would create trouble which could not be resolved. However, Nailisi had never changed her character and had continued wreaking havoc. Even so, whenever Saleen met with danger, she would never run away.
Even though Saleen had lost his magic abilities, he managed to come beside Nailisi even faster than when he was blessed with the Windspeed spell. Saleen lifted Nailisi within that cloud and took out a small bottle, pouring the magic liquid down her throat.
“Master, this time, I am going to die.” Nailisi’s eyes were white, and after consuming the magic liquid, her body became shockingly hot.
“No, Nailisi, you must hang in there, I…” Then Saleen paused. What could he do? The severity of Nailisi’s injuries was unknown. To get the best treatment, perhaps a high grade holy master was needed. But would a holy master help him and Nailisi?
“Master, I cannot protect you anymore. You, must persevere…” When Nailisi finished talking, her green pupils began spreading outwards. Her eyes were now filled with a green hue throughout.
Saleen felt that there were violent throbs in the depths of his soul, as though something had disappeared, as it was being s.n.a.t.c.hed away from him forcefully. Was Nailisi really going to die?
“Nailisi!” Saleen hugged Nailisi, with his eyes wide open as tears fell continuously. Those tears bounced and then splashed open when they struck Nailisi’s face. Saleen’s heart turned cold when he realized that Nailisi’s heart had stopped beating.
He looked up and stared at the black bishop who was standing in the distance. The black bishop was also staring back at him, his red pupils looking stranger than ever.
“Holy See, why can’t you let me live in peace? It’s always you!” Saleen grit his teeth and shouted at the black bishop, his words full of bitterness. Saleen no longer cared about the mental state a mage should have. His parents’ graves had been destroyed under the Holy See’s instructions, and now this person had used a divine spell to kill Nailisi!
“That is G.o.d’s will.” The ethereal and high-pitched voice of the black bishop came from afar.
A bundle of three-dimensional magic patterns appeared in Saleen’s blue eyes, spinning about furiously. He had actually broken through the limits of grade-4 and entered the realm of grade-5 at this point in time.
