Battered Young Miss

Chapter 40

After the hearing of the Zhang heiress, the news on the TV continuously aired the live coverage of the things that took place in the court house, clips of the coverage showed the heiress receiving treatment along with her uncle in one of the most reputable hospitals in the country. Reporters kept camp outside both hospitals that were separated from each other by almost four minutes drive.

The staff of both hospitals were continuously hara.s.sed by the press, to the point that it became extremely unbearable, this made the chief medical officer to call an emergency staff meeting to address the issue of the press on their hospital grounds.

If the press had stopped at just the staff, it may not have seemed that bad, but they went on to hara.s.s other patients and visitors by asking if any of them knew what room that the Zhang were in, or which doctor came by to see them. The outrageous behavior of the reporters cause an outcry from the residents and visitors of both hospital and this forced the hospital to take action regarding the way the press disregarded the policies in place, which made invasion of privacy a really big issue.

That very day, the police was called in and a partners.h.i.+p of sort was formed with them and the hospital, this was to safeguard the patients and staff of both hospitals.

A squad of police cars surrounded both hospitals, forcing the reporters to give up their camping and evacuate the hospital grounds. Anyone that pa.s.sed by the immediate surroundings were heavily scrutinized, there was no exception. To the point that it became almost a nuisance and a great irritant to those that worked or came in to visit.

The state hospital that the Zhang heiress was carried into, was understaffed with the nurses and doctors going on almost in a mechanical way, while seeing and giving treatments to the patients. At times, some of the nurses would have forgotten that a particular patient was there to see a certain doctor, when discovered, rather than apologizing they will shout down and rain curses on the already tired and ill person.

Defeat could be mostly seen on the faces of those that came in to the hospital. If they could go somewhere else, a lot of them will, but many of the health services rendered was free and because the staff knew this, they had a typical nonchalant behavior towards the patients and visitors.

There was no respect whatsoever between the nurses who gave direct patient care and the doctors who gave the order and prescription or in certain cases procedures, they will shout at each other, cursed themselves out, much to the dismay and discomfort of the others who came in to see their loved ones. Miscommunication was the norm and when things weren"t done, there will always be someone to pa.s.s the ball to, no one care and they made sure the people that came in know that they really did not care!

Meanwhile, on Zhang Tianyu"s end Shupei Medical staff was on their toes, there was order and everyone had to fall in line. When the physicians spoke to other healthcare team there was collaboration, no matter how small or big the case that was being handled.

They all knew their jobs and respected each other"s professional opinion, but nothing is ever perfect, behind the facade of team perfect, they all had to put a front, whether or not they liked the other health professional"s suggestion, this was to avoid getting called in behind closed doors and talked to at length, when there was better things they could use their time for.

On the news, the reporters added their own version of a colorful spin based off speculations, as to what would happen to the Zhang family and the company. Was this going to mark the end of their glory days? The net lite up with wild speculations and many unfounded rumors. It was now at a point, where it became difficult to tell fact from fiction, the media that was suppose to tell the public the "truth" was blinded by how they could make more views by the way the news was told.

Whether or not the news carried was genuine, deep down the public weren"t too concerned as to who was innocent or guilty, they were more interested in if the sentence that the Judge awarded to the Zhang Zhang heiress would be carried out to the letter. Next to their top concern was if the President of Zhang Corporation would still remain in office, since the company shares had tumbled down again from the aftermath of the trial.

Already, so many investors had began calling regarding what their future would be with Zhang Corporation. There was no telling where the company will be heading, the person that would have answered or tried to calm their fears was still within the confinement of the hospital.

Products exclusively sold by Zhang Corporation was now being shunned at various stores, as many feared that if the internal battle wasn"t resolved then the company may not be as profitable. Truth be told, what they bought from the stores was not quality, but the company name and brand.

Employees at Zhang Corporation anxiously awaited the return of their company President, the directors could not call for an emergency meeting to resolve the issue, since none was appointed next in line to take over. The likely candidate that could have stepped in was the company lawyer, but he wasn"t even answering his calls and messages.

They even went as a group to his firm, but the lack of humanly presence made them realize that for him not to leave anyone at the office, then that could only mean that, they should all do nothing and stand back. Scared of being seen as stepping out of line, the directors of Zhang Corporation waited in silence and resentment, powerless to do anything to salvage the mess that the company was currently immersed in.
