After a long walk from where he was detained, Yang Lin could finally get to where a public transportation could be taken. Aching all over from the beatings he had received as well as the journey he had to undertake which took over an hour on foot, only on few occa.s.sions was he able to see a bus or two pa.s.s by, for the most part there was barely any trace of human habitation, none pa.s.sed by him as he walked the lonely road. The deserted road, echoed the footsteps of the worn out man, as each step felt as though it was never going to end. When he finally saw the bus stand with the blue imprint on, Yang Lin almost pa.s.sed out from joy, as sweat drop dripped from his brows with his coat heavily weighing down on him from the sweat that had gathered underneath it.
He sat by the worn out metal bench of black whose coating had mostly peeled off from over use and lack of maintenance. It took almost two and a half hours for the next bus to arrive, the blue bus stopped with its doors automatically opening to allow Yang Lin in, on getting inside he noticed that only a handful of people rode along with him. Who were mostly middle aged and elderly people.
They watched as a man with dirty clothes and bruised face took out a dark wallet and swiped a golden colored card through the payment device by the side of the driver"s seat. Their eyes followed the young man with suspicion in them, as he settled down on the second seat to the left by the window, leaving only him by the seat alone. The driver kept casting glances at the new pa.s.senger during the drive, not knowing what to make of what he saw.
It was a thirty minute ride, but to Yang Lin and probably the rest of them in the bus it felt like it was forever, throughout the entire trip they kept casting glances at him and whispering at the back of their hand to each other, pa.s.sing on what they thought could have been the cause for his terrible state.
The bus dropped Yang Lin at a five minutes drive from where he lived, as a result he had to hail a cab which pulled up almost instantly to drop him off at the front gate of the Zhang villa, this time the driver acted as though there was nothing unusual about the person he picked up, respectfully taking the card Yang Lin pa.s.sed him, swiping it before handing the card back to the young man.
On getting out of the cab, Yang Lin had to press the bell to be allowed in, since the car that would have opened the gate was already towed away. A few seconds after the gate swung open letting him in, as he briskly made his way into the house, in antic.i.p.ation for a shower and change of clothes.
His appearance at the door was met with a blank expression and some showed disbelief, they wanted to question why he was like that, but the butlers and maids knew from experience never to question things they saw, unless the person involved willingly opened up to them. Their shocked gaze followed Yang Lin until he disappeared into his room.
Twenty minutes later, Yang Lin had on fresh clothing, dressed in a pullover and pants all black, with his slight damp hair from having a shower. The bruises on his slightly flushed face had now taken a deeper purple, with traces of pink marking their edges.
Picking up the cellphone from the desk, Yang Lin scrolled through his call history to dial the number on his mind. On the first ring the call was picked up.
"h.e.l.lo Mr Yang, I was wondering when you were going to call me?"
Yang Lin could hear the serious tone hidden within the jovial voice on the line, belonging to Tao Jun the lawyer that would be representing his former boss.
"Ms Tao, do you by chance have a date when the hearing at the Supreme court will be allowed? I want you to setup a meeting for us three to know where to go from here, regarding Miss Zhang."
Tao Jun heard the urgency behind the words of Yang Lin and wondered if something was pus.h.i.+ng him to hasten her action. She told Yang Lin that talks with the prosecutor"s office was underway and she would be reaching out to Zhang Corporation and their legal team for further discussions regarding retrying the case at the Supreme court level.
Tao Jun then told Yang Lin of the need to move it to Lu Yi"s place, which would not draw as much attention, unlike if they held it at Yang Lin"s or her firm. She promised to text him the address and room number of Lu Yi.
Not liking the thought of going to Lu Yi"s hotel for their upcoming briefing, Yang Lin grudgingly agreed to inform the other man of Tao Jun"s intention, before abruptly ending the call to dial Lu Yi"s number.
"Hi, you finally decided to return my call. Have you found out the best way to rescue ZiZi?"
The friendly tone oozing so much charm, set Yang Lin"s teeth on edge, he couldn"t stand the other man, despite how friendly he appeared and sounded on the phone.
"Free your calendar, two days from now at ten in the morning, we will be meeting at your place."
It never struck Yang Lin as strange that Tao Jun knew where Lu Yi stayed, not knowing that the first meeting with the other man was how she got to know. Tao Jun wasn"t just an excellent hard as a nail lawyer, she also excelled in other areas that had little to nothing to do with the law.
Fortunately or unfortunately, Lu Yi caught her interest and just like a predator, she was waiting for the right chance to gobble him up all to herself.
