"A Dragon, eh? That"s kinda cool." Ben smiled to himself.Ben then looked at his soul realm and was shocked. All three of his soul beasts were in his soul realm and were in the midst of evolving.
He also saw that he had notifications in his City Lord interface. He opened up the interface and saw he had a message.
City 01,
I am Adam from City 03 and I need your help defeating the zombies.
Thanks
Ben started laughing at the message. This Adam seemed like a simple guy who didn"t want to ask for help. Of course Ben understood where he was coming from and all.
[Do you wish to a.s.sist City 03?]
A message popped up in Ben"s view.
Ben frowned, not knowing what he should do.
He looked at Cloey who was still buried in his arms. "Another city asked for help. Should I say yes?" he asked her.
Cloey gave it some thought before nodding her head softly. "To survive, your planet will need to come together. This is the perfect starting point for that." she answered.
Ben agreed with her and answered yes.
[City 01 will a.s.sist City 03. How many partic.i.p.ants will be joining?]
"Just one." he said, not wanting to bother the others.
[Teleportation rings are now available to you. Please make your way to the Teleportation building.]
A map appeared in front of Ben with a large red arrow pointing somewhere in the south end of the city. Ben gave Cloey a quick kiss before he left the mansion and headed towards the south end. He didn"t want to alert anyone that he was awake yet so he wouldn"t worry anyone when he left to help City 03.
Approaching where the red arrow was leading him, he saw a open lot of land with a large circle on the ground with symbols in it. Stepping into it a message appeared.
[Do you wish to teleport to City 03?]
Taking a deep breath, Ben answered yes.
A flash of light filled the the circle before dimming down, Ben was nowhere to be seen.
…
Adam stared down at the zombies with a serious look. His soldiers were forced to retreat and stay behind the walls while the zombies attacked. Different kinds of beasts had started to scale the walls and all he could do now was defend.
There had been no answer from City 01 causing Adam"s mood to plummet. Nia said he needed to be patient but he didn"t have his hopes up. He had been defending the walls for two days now and the zombies attack had become more frequent, causing his soldiers to tire out quicker.
Adam himself had been staying awake the entire two days in order to let his soldiers sleep more but the exhaustion was catching up to him. Nia finally convince him to take a nap, led him to a bed. Just when Adam closed his eyes, a message appeared.
[City 01 has agreed to a.s.sist your city.]
Adam sat straight up, startling Nia.
"They agreed." he said to her.
Nia was stunned for a second before a giant smile came over her face. "I knew they would help us." she said calmly.
"That"s why your face is filled with relief." Adam teased her.
Nia ignored his teasing and pushed him back down. "Have a quick rest. I will meet with him and bring him to you."
"No. I will meet him." Adam said stubbornly, standing up. He didn"t want Nia to meet a stranger by herself.
Nia rolled her eyes but didn"t protest, for she knew how protective Adam was. They both headed over to the teleportation circle and waited. Two of Adam"s generals were with them while the others were still on the wall.
They all waited for their reinforcements to appear from City 01. Suddenly a flash of light filled the circle and a lone man stood on the center of it.
Adam"s brows furrowed as he stared at the lonely man. He was a tall man with golden hair that was just above his shoulder. His eyes were gold in colour too and when he made eye contact with Adam, it sent a shiver down his spine. The man was wearing a sleeveless black leather armour that hugged his body tightly. His bear arms were covered in black tattoos that covered from his shoulder to wrist.
"Hi, I"m Bennet but you can call me Ben." Ben said, approaching them with his hand out.
Adam walked out and shook his hand. "Adam, are you all that is coming?" he asked.
"Um, yeah. I didn"t tell anyone else because they wouldn"t have let me come." Ben answered sheepishly, scratching the back of his head.
Adam"s face grew cold. Did he think this was a game? Every hour his soldiers were dying and he was sneaking off?
Seeing Adam"s face grow cold, he quickly said, "Sorry about taking so long to answer, I was in sort of a coma and just woke up today." He thought that Adam was angry for taking so long to answer his call.
Ignoring Ben"s comments, Adam asked him, "Are you the City Lord and how did you defeat the zombies so quickly?"
Ben was a little taken back but quickly answered. "Yes I am the City Lord. It was a combination of things. Most of my city became soldiers and I sent them outside the walls to fight every day before the invasion to gather experience. Also me and a general saw the zombies were acting weird so I investigated and found their army. We attacked and weakened their forces before the invasion started so that helped. Lastly… I"m f.u.c.king powerful." Ben said with a c.o.c.ky grin.
Adam"s eyes narrowed as he saw the c.o.c.ky grin on his face. "Better be or else it will be your death on the battlefield. Let"s begin our attack." Adam said wanting to attack immediately.
"Hold on. You are clearly exhausted and will be next to useless on the battlefield. Go rest and attack after your are in peak condition." Ben told Adam, clearly seeing how exhausted Adam was.
Adam wanted to retort but Nia grabbed his hand and nodded her head in agreement with Ben. "He"s right you know. You need to rest before you go back on the battlefield." she whispered in his ear.
"Should listen to her. Once you are rested we will end this invasion." Ben said, overhearing Nia.
Adam glared at him before giving a curt nod.
"Follow me." Adam said.
As they walked towards the wall Nia tried to engage Ben in small talk.
"Those are some pretty life like tattoos you have Ben." she commented, gesturing to his arms.
Ben gave a mischievous smile before saying, "Yes, they sure are lifelike."
Nia looked at him curiously but didn"t press further and soon they made it to the wall.
…
Ben looked down at the zombies and undead beasts that were attacking the wall.
"Ours wasn"t this bad."
The number of undead beasts here were greater than the number City 01 had faced. Mutant zombies were also riding the beasts up the walls and jumping off, killing numerous soldiers before being killed themselves.
Ben turned to look at the couple, Adam and Nia. Both of them were strong but Nia seemed to be the calmer one.
"Tell your troops to have a rest. I will hold back the zombies while you rest." Ben said. He wasn"t doing this to be a good guy, he wanted to show off and intimidate them. He hoped that they could form an alliance and make both their cities stronger because of it.
Adam looked at him like he was crazy. "Don"t be an idiot!" Adam said harshly.
"Looks like I will have to show them." Ben said shaking his head.
Ben stood on the edge of the wall, two large black wings sprouted from his back, shocking the soldiers watching.
Black lightning started to arc off his body, causing his hair to go crazy, giving him a devilish look.
"Finally can test out my new powers." Ben thought with a smile.
