Beast God

Chapter 63

The next few days went by quickly with the refugees quickly integrating into the city. Ben found out that the refugees levels were pitiful and needed to level up soon to be of any use. Lance and Lilith both took them out and helped them level up against low level goblins and beasts.

Lilith was happy to find that lots of them had a healing type job, joining her division. A few of the tougher ones, like Ana, joined Colton"s division and were fitted with armour and weapons. No major problems arise from the refugees joining the city. The refugees from the other city told Ben that their situation was similar to the first, bad leadership.

"It all starts at the top." Ben thought to himself, remembering his high school teacher teaching him about ancient civilizations and how it all started with a powerful leader. Ben felt his shoulders get heavier, it was his responsibility to lead his city and ensure the lives of the inhabitants. He needed to keep his invincible imagine he had painted for the citizens and soldiers.

"All I can do is get stronger."

Two more cities had defeated the invasion yesterday, causing the city to celebrate some more. n.o.body had called for a.s.sistance yet, causing Ben to frown. "Are they too proud to ask? They should have defeated them by now."

"You have grown youngster." a deep voice sounded from behind Ben.

Ben reacted immediately and drew both his swords and summoned dense dragon scales all over his body. It should have been almost impossible for a human to sneak up on him with his strength. Even Deke, who specialized in stealth, wasn"t able to achieve it.

"Settle down. It"s only me." a giant man covered in rippling muscles sat in a chair looking at Ben with a amused expression.

Ben let out a pent up breath as he put his swords away, "You scared the s.h.i.t out of me gramps. Just say h.e.l.lo next time, okay?"

Tuk"s eye twitched slightly as he listened to Ben talk to him so casually. "Cheeky b.a.s.t.a.r.d aren"t you." he growled in his heart.

"Good job on defeating the first wave." Tuk said a little forced.

"Thanks. I finally awakened the Mekata bloodline and the dragon bloodline within it." Ben said proudly.

"Awakened the Mekata bloodline? Don"t flatter yourself, you have less than 1/10 on the bloodline awakened." Tuk snorted at the naive brat.

Though Tuk"s words seemed harsh, Ben was actually relieved. He was told that the Mekata bloodline was a top ranking bloodline throughout the universe and Ben felt the power he had acquire, though powerful, was weak in comparison to.

"But tell me brat… why did tell others about your Inherited Skill when I explicitly told you not to." a cold edge creeped into Tuk"s voice as a dense pressure formed around Ben, making him feel suffocated.

Ben tried to fight off the oppressive pressure but was unable to. "I told people I trust." he said with difficulty as sweat covered his forehead.

"Things like trust and friendship change all the time. They can harm you with this information. I had half a mind to kill them." Tuk said fiercely, his kind demeanor gone and replaced with a cold steel like exterior.

"We have to be able to trust each other or we will never survive…" Ben choked out, collapsing to his knees, panting.

Tuk looked at Ben struggling on his knees, he kept him their for a few more moments before retracting the pressure. "I hope you are right." he said, standing up. "Try to forge a few more alliances. They will help you in the end." Tuk said, before disappearing from sight.

Ben was still on the ground trying you catch his breath. "So that is what he like when he is mad." Ben thought, hoping he never would upset Tuk in the foreseeable future. He didn"t regret telling his generals and family about his skill, trusting them not to share it with others as he wouldn"t share theirs.

Finally catching his breath, he stood up and called for Deke. As usual, Deke appeared swiftly. Seeing Ben"s sweaty and pale complexion he was immediately worried and searched the room for signs of intruders.

"He already left Deke but thankfully he is not an enemy." Ben laughed lightly, wiping his face with his shirt. "I called here to ask you about your new skill. I a.s.sume you acquired one?"

Deke nodded his head and whispered, "True Darkness."

The room turned pitch black, rendering Ben of his sight. He also realized he wasn"t able to hear or say anything. As quickly as the darkness appeared, it vanished and Ben saw Deke with some perspiration on his forehead.

"As expected from the City Lord, I am only able to use it on you for a few seconds." Deke gave a bitter smile.

"What was that?" Ben asked, slightly fearful of what had just happened.

"True Darkness. It take away all your senses except touch, leaving you easy prey." Deke said with a proud smile, his skill was truly to powerful.

Ben was fearful of this skill but knew that it had a weakness. If he used it on a veteran warrior, they would be able to use their instincts to evade. It also left your touch sense in tact, which could be used to fight back.

"Powerful Deke, truly powerf-"

[City 12 has asked for your a.s.sistance. Do you wish to a.s.sist?]

Ben was interrupted by the message.

"City Lord are you okay?" Deke asked as Ben had abruptly stopped talking and stared at nothing.

"Sorry Deke but a city asked for our help. Can you gather the generals for me please?"

Deke soon disappeared and went to search for the generals. Ben opened the system map and searched for City 12. He found it was placed where Moscow, Russia use to be.

"Russia eh? Wonder how strong they are." Ben wondered, remembering Russia was a powerful country before the apocalypse.

Soon James and the others walked into the room, their faces filled with questions.

"Deke must not have told them."

"We have been asked for help by another city and I was wondering who would like to go." he asked, curious who would want to come.

All of their eyes sparkled and they all talked at the same time wanting to come. Ben was shocked. "Really, you all want to come?"

They all nodded, clearly excited. They had been trapped in the city for awhile now and craved to explore. Although they could go outside the city walls, they didn"t dare venture to far in case of danger.

"Umm… okay. I guess all six of us will go." Ben said, still stunned.

"Ahem, seven City Lord." Deke let out a light cough.

Ben rolled his eyes and clicked yes on his interface screen.

[How many people will you take?]

Ben quickly said seven and told them to meet him at the teleportation building. He quickly went over and told his family that he was leaving for a short amount of time causing them to worry but not stopping him. Cloey gave him a quick kiss before running away with a red face.

Ben quickly flew over and met his generals at the building. They all stepped into the circle as it flashed with a light, causing them to disappear.
