Chapter 323 - 323 An Unforeseen Event
323 An Unforeseen Event
Immediately after, a large amount of steam appeared around the forging apparatus, and the tightly shut material feeder below opened with a crack.
“What exactly is it? It’s causing such a huge commotion!”
“Could it be material that can be used to forge Legendary-grade equipment? I think this forging machine is about to overload!”
While everyone was guessing, Wu Mo, who was standing next to the forging machine, had already put on his heat-resistant gloves.
The moment the instrument’s feeder opened, he took out the substance inside.
The surrounding steam slowly dispersed from his field of vision, and a light gray metal block the size of a sugar cube was lying quietly in his palm.
The surface of the metal block reflected a faint l.u.s.ter, and its four corners were extremely well-defined. There were even circular patterns on its surface, as though it was made up of tightly-packed small particles.
Wu Mo was excited. He subconsciously weighed it in his hand. The metal piece felt light, and he found its weight somewhat unreal. He suddenly felt a touch of joy.
“It’s done!” he subconsciously muttered to himself before he immediately calmed down.
The surrounding people only saw a white light flash in front of them, and the metal piece that was originally lying in the young man’s hand disappeared in the next second.
“What’s the meaning of this?!”
“How strange. After causing such a huge commotion, you only made that tiny little thing?”
Seeing that Wu Mo was done, the R&D staff immediately shouted, “Hurry up and hand it over. Did you add something to the materials? Otherwise, the forging apparatus wouldn’t have made such a big noise!”
Master Liu, who was standing at the side, looked at the instrument that had stopped working in surprise.
He already had an idea. He could now conclude that Wu Mo was the cause of the abnormality in the machine.
Therefore, he did not stop the R&D staff. The rules in the armory were strict. Although the outer sh.e.l.l of the forging instrument was strong and durable, the internal components for precision were still relatively fragile.
If someone were to use illegal materials, the internal organs of the instrument would likely be corroded or even destroyed.
Therefore, for the sake of safety, there was nothing wrong with a routine inspection.
While the two of them felt that an inspection was not a problem, Wu Mo saw it as creating trouble out of nothing.
Previously, Wu Mo had gotten angry when he had been reprimanded by the researcher.
Now, he had finally forged the new alloy but had not even found the time to test it, so how could he let someone else check such a precious thing?
He laughed coldly and said in an indifferent tone, “We’re both employees of the military armory. What authority do you have to order me around?”
He retrieved his work pa.s.s from the workbench and prepared to leave.
However, he had just taken two steps when he was stopped by the researcher, who looked a little upset.
“Kid, what’s with your att.i.tude?! The forging instrument is an important device in the research facility. I have reason to suspect that you’ve used illegal materials to destroy the device. If you’re sensible, you’d cooperate with the investigation.”
“Otherwise…” Lu Jian from the Research and Development Department said with a dark expression and a threatening tone.
However, his threatening words were like tickles to Wu Mo. They had no effect on him at all.
“What a joke. Just because you said I used illegal materials, I have to cooperate with your so-called inspection? Then I have reason to suspect that you stole the instrument’s secret components. To prove your innocence, you should take off your clothes now and let everyone check them.”
Wu Mo sneered and instantly retaliated with the same method.
The people who were watching the show were amused by Wu Mo’s words, and some of them could not help but laugh.
“Haha… You’ve only been at the facility for a few days, yet you have the audacity to talk back to the R&D staff. I’ll make sure you learn the rules of our facility today!”
The researcher, Lu Jian, was furious. He quickly took out his communicator and planned to ask the security guards to restrain this guy.
Master Liu saw that things were not going well and immediately stopped Lu Jian.
“He’s a newcomer, so don’t be too angry. I’ll take care of this.”
As he spoke, he took a step forward and stood in front of the young man.
“In that case… Thank you for your trouble, Master Liu.”
Lu Jian hesitated for a moment. He could not swallow the anger in his heart, but he still had to give Master Liu face.
After struggling for a moment, he retreated. However, his eyes were still filled with rage when he looked at Wu Mo.
Seeing that the person on the other side had changed, Wu Mo’s mouth immediately curled into an inexplicable smile.
“What? Do you want to check my materials as well?” He raised his eyebrows and said unhappily.
“Don’t misunderstand, Little Brother. My friend was only doing that for the sake of everyone’s interests. After all, a problem with the forging apparatus is no small matter. No one can afford to take responsibility if something really happens,” Master Liu promptly explained when he saw the Wu Mo’s clear rejection.
“If you really don’t want to be examined, you can wait here. After I’ve confirmed that there’s no damage to the equipment, you can come and go as you please.”
Master Liu’s words were sincere, and it did not seem like he was trying to be provocative. After Wu Mo heard him out, he thought for a moment and expressed his position.
“Alright, go ahead then. But be quick, I still have work to do.”
Since he had not done anything against the rules, it was not a big deal to let Master Liu check the instrument.
If he continued to be entangled with these people, he would probably waste even more time.
…
In the research facility, Master Liu immediately took out the relevant tools from his bag after obtaining the consent of the young man and began to routinely check the instrument’s operations.
The people around them watched the scene quietly. In the past, they would be asked to go out in advance for maintenance. Even for the old employees, this was their first time witnessing equipment maintenance on site.
At the side, Lu Jian saw how the situation had developed to such an extent that the young man saved his face without receiving any punishment. This made Lu Jian extremely unhappy.
But now that Master Liu was there, he could not do anything.
He just memorized the young man’s appearance in his heart, thinking that if he had the opportunity to meet him next time, he would definitely make him pay double.
Soon, their surroundings gradually became quiet.
Master Liu took out his tool box. First, he dismantled the outer sh.e.l.l of the forging apparatus. Then, he connected the electronic device used for evaluation to the instrument’s network.
Looking at the complicated displays and various devices inside the forging apparatus, the group dared not even breathe loudly, for fear that the precise components inside would be blown away if they were not careful.
The inspection and evaluation process took about five minutes as various information appeared on the electronic device for evaluation.
Looking at the data and information that kept appearing on the screen, Master Liu, who was squatting in front of the instrument, could not help but sigh in relief.
“All functions of the device are normal. There are no signs of damage.”
