"TODAYYY I BECOME HOKAGEEE!!!!" A boy with a blue cape and a helmet came running in…
"huh?" The boy stared at Hiruzen on the floor.
"d.a.m.n it!" The boy cursed as he lifted his head.
"Are you the one who defeated him, Eh?" The boy asked.
On the other hand…
Boruto stared at the boy who stood in front of him.
"Eh?"
("KONOHAMARU NO NIICHANNN!!!!!")
Boruto was shocked upon seeing the snot-nosed young version of Konohamaru. The cool older brother he always hanged out with until he became his sensei. Konohamaru used to teach Boruto many jutsus when Naruto was not around. The two would hang out with each other whenever Konohamaru was free. It was just like the time Naruto used to play ninja with Konohamaru and his friends.
"Tell me, how did you do it, what"s your secret, Eh?" Konohamaru pestered Boruto.
"ugh," Hiruzen recovered from his stupor.
"s.e.xy Jutsu, huh?"
"That"s quite the devious technique you"ve got there," Hiruzen dusted himself as he got up from the floor.
"HONORABLE GRANDSON!!!" Ebisu-sensei finally came chasing after.
"hah"
"hah"
"hah," Ebisu panted like crazy.
"T-There.. you.. are," Ebisu said slowly.
"Tell me your secret!" Konohamaru hung on Boruto"s arm.
"Quit it will ya," Boruto pulled his arm back in fear that the shopping bag will snap from Konohamaru"s weight.
"Tsk!" Konohamaru clicked his tongue.
"Now, now honorable grandson, what did I tell you about sneak attacking," Ebisu asked Konohamaru.
"Hmph," Konohamaru avoided Ebisu-sensei"s gaze.
"All right Naruto, I"ll be leaving now…" Hiruzen turned away, seeing that what he wanted to ask was interrupted by those who had interfered.
Boruto turned back to look at Konohamaru staring at him with a burning gaze while being pulled along by Ebisu as the three of them walked away…
Boruto then unlocked his door and entered his house.
"Wow, I didn"t expect to see Konohamaru-no-niichan like that,"
("Oops, I"ve gotta avoid calling him like that or his younger version might become even more troublesome…") Boruto thought as he unpacked what he had bought earlier.
About a few minutes later,
Boruto stared at a somewhat mangled burger that was in front of him. He then stared at some part of the tomato he had discarded after cutting.
("This timeline is so primitive they don"t even have ketchup,")
("In future, I"ll probably have to make do by smashing the tomato into a paste…")
Boruto then sat by his table and started to eat the burger. As he chewed on it, he looked around at the empty house, thinking back to the time he and Himawari would share the hamburger he made, while his mom would just be in the next room or so.
He then looked at the picture he drew and started to eat with more interest as thought back to all the moments he had spent in that world.
After eating, Boruto cleaned up and then looked at the time.
It was almost 5 pm, and now that Boruto did not have anything to entertain him, he chose to go out and explore the village more.
After checking the map once again, he decided on a location to check out today. Boruto locked his door and stepped out.
("This area is filled with a bunch of bars and gambling houses, but it is important to know the village if I am going to be here for a while…") Boruto thought to himself as he walked down the street. However, at this moment, his ears picked up something. Boruto slightly turned to look from the corner of his eyes.
("Who the h.e.l.l is that lousy to use that cover as a camouflage,")
("And even if you are following me while hiding at least try to hide,") Boruto was p.i.s.sed off seeing the obvious, which was a small boy wrapped in canvas.
Boruto continued to walk for a while trying to ignore the pitiful looking object that was trying to keep up. For a minute or two, it was funny, but later on, it got irritating.
"For ninja"s sake, can you please show yourself," Boruto asked as he turned around abruptly.
"Haha, You"ve seen through my disguise, Eh?"
"Your reputation is well earned," Konohamaru commended.
"Yeah right, if you call that a disguise, then you probably don"t have a clue what ninjas are about," Boruto said.
"y-you…forget it,"
"Here"s an offer, I"ll allow you to make me your apprentice," Konohamaru stated.
"Apprentice?" ("Whoah, I get to boss around Konohamaru… Haha")
("Wait, wait, I shouldn"t make it too easy for him to be accepted…") Boruto thought following which he looked at Konohamaru.
"Hmph, If you become my apprentice, I"ll be a joke, after that disguise you demonstrated, I really doubt your techniques," Boruto said.
"Uhh…"
("Why"s he determined to make this hard for me… But I can"t give up if I learn that technique I will probably be able to defeat that old geezer,") Konohamaru thought.
"Well, if you teach me to disguise properly, wouldn"t that problem be solved?" Konohamaru asked.
"Hah,"
"I have standards for my apprentices," Boruto retorted.
("d.a.m.n it!") Konohamaru cursed internally following which he looked at Boruto.
"Boss, please, I"ll do anything, just teach me that jutsu you used to defeat the old man," Konohamaru pleaded.
("Maybe I shouldn"t be too hard on him…") Boruto thought upon seeing Konohamaru beg him.
"All right, you have convinced me," Boruto said with a smile.
"Really," Konohamaru asked with gleaming eyes.
"I had to test your seriousness after all," Boruto pretended to act cool.
"Thanks, Boss" Konohamaru said enthusiastically.
"Now, for the training…" Boruto looked at Konohamaru with a sly smile.
"Oh, all that talking, I feel kinda thirsty," Boruto said in a parched voice.
"Please Wait, Boss," Konohamaru went on a run.
"Hehe," Boruto snickered to himself seeing his plan work.
(Whoosh!)
Konohamaru returned quickly with a bottle of lime soda.
"Your drink, boss."
"Oh, thank you, my apprentice," Boruto said, following which he took a sip.
"Boss, you were talking about the training, eh?" Konohamaru looked at Boruto.
"First, before we talk about your training, I have a few questions to ask," Boruto said.
"Mm," Konohamaru nodded.
"First, what is your goal?" Boruto asked.
"I want to defeat the geezer!" Konohamaru stated out loud.
(slap!) Boruto slapped his forehead.
"Konohamaru, that"s a short-term goal,"
"What do you want to become as a ninja?" Boruto asked.
"As a ninja, eh?"
"I want to become the Hokage!" Konohamaru declared.
"Good!" Boruto nodded in approval.
"If you wanted to become something else, we wouldn"t continue this conversation," Boruto said.
"Hehe," Konohamaru smiled.
"Why do you want to become the Hokage?" Boruto asked.
Konohamaru"s expressions went down a notch.
"What happened?" Boruto asked.
"…"
"My name is Konohamaru,"
"It was grandpa who gave me that name,"
"He named me after the village so that it would be easier for everyone to remember,"
"…" Boruto stared at Konohamaru.
"But n.o.body ever calls me that name,"
"When they see me, all they see me is the grandson of the Hokage…" Konohamaru said following which Boruto frowned as well.
Boruto frowned because what he faced was a similar situation. Though not as severe as everyone calling him Naruto"s son. But whatever he did, or if he had landed in any trouble. Him being Naruto"s son would always pave the way for him. Boruto hated that, that"s why he still struggled to be different from his dad. He would not inherit the Hokage name; he would choose to follow in the footsteps of his dad"s rival, to protect the village from outside…
"No one sees me for who I am,"
"I can"t stand it anymore,"
"That"s why I want the t.i.tle of Hokage right now," Konohamaru said.
"Hehe," Boruto let out a light laugh.
"huh?" Konohamaru lifted his head to look at Boruto.
"It"s a tough journey to become a Hokage,"
"Are you prepared to go down that path?" Boruto asked.
"Of course I am boss," Konohamaru stood up.
"Are you all right with that?"
"You"ll not be able to see your family,"
"You"ll work late hours, sleepless nights, piles of papers on your desk,"
"After doing all that, You"ll still need to protect the village with your life on the line," Boruto said thinking back to the Chuunin exam where his father took an attack to save the village.
"Are you okay with that?" Boruto asked.
"eh?" Konohamaru looked at Boruto.
"There"s no shortcut,"
"Ninjas need to work hard and persevere,"
"Hokages need to double that," Boruto said.
"Yes, I ready to work hard and persevere," Konohamaru answered with energy.
"hehe,"
"All right, then I as your teacher will not let you down," Boruto stood up.
"I"ll be your master, and you"ll be my apprentice."
"I"ll make you a Hokage!" Boruto said as he extended his hand.
"Ahh" Konohamaru was seething with excitement.
He then shook Boruto"s hand with confidence.
"Yes, Boss!" Konohamaru answered.
"Good,"
"Tomorrow, we meet up here after I am done with the academy," Boruto said.
"Mm!" Konohamaru nodded, with that the two walked back.
Hiruzen witnessed this exchange through his crystal ball.
"Hehe,"
"You still have a long way to go before becoming real ninjas," Hiruzen smiled as he continued to observe.
On the way home. Konohamaru looked at Boruto.
"What do you want to become boss?" Konohamaru asked.
"…" Boruto stopped walking.
"eh?" Konohamaru stared at Boruto.
"Konohamaru, who do you think is cooler than a Hokage?" Boruto asked, thinking back to the first time he met Sasuke.
"…" Konohamaru thought hard.
"I GOT IT!"
"It"s you, boss!" Konohamaru answered.
"eh?" Boruto looked at Konohamaru.
"Don"t you see, boss, you"re my teacher."
"If I have to listen to you now, even if I become a Hokage I have to listen to you, right?" Konohamaru asked.
Then it suddenly clicked.
"The teacher of a Hokage!" Boruto liked his ident.i.ty.
"Yup, I"m going to become the teacher of a Hokage," Boruto said while also thinking internally…
("I"m still going to protect the village like Uncle Sasuke")
