Nolan looked at Henry with a strange expression which looked like a mix of incredulity and disgust. "I . . . I never intended to come here to take your clothing from your house. I thought you would send me to a professional or someone who could coordinate something for me.""I can do that." Henry escorted Nolan out of the reclining room. "However, I am more inclined to know your lover than someone who is just paid to make you look trendy. I also do really enjoy putting clothes together. If I wasn"t a businessman, I would have loved to do costume design for films. I did a bit when I was studying, but my father thought it was too feminine so I haven"t in a couple years. I love this sort of thing. It"s probably a side effect of having a butler with such a good taste for what suited my different teenage phases. You should have seen my Victorian goth phase."
His brother-in-law burst out laughing. He wiped a tear from his eye as they approached Henry"s suite. Henry had the card in his back pocket so he rotated around and pushed his backside against the scanner until it make a merry unlocking sound. Henry nodded at Michael who was following them like a welcome shadow. "You know Michael there is pretty adamant about what fabrics he will allow be made into my suits, as he knows after six months they become his because we are the same size. G.o.d works in wicked ways doesn"t he, but I do admit he is quite the sharp dresser. He gets his clothes for free, which I do envy."
Nolan wrinkled his nose. "Are you trying to say that I should try to look like your butler?"
"Oh no. I wish I looked like Michael sometimes. He has his British sensibilities. I am nothing compared to him in taste." Henry walked through his outer door and Nolan was surprised that they were already in the closet. Ahead of them was a gla.s.s door raised above them by a couple green velvet stairs. Through the gla.s.s Nolan could see a s.p.a.cious bed and another gla.s.s wall that lead to the balcony outside. The room inside also had bookshelves along every wall like it was also a secondary study as well. Nolan turned back to the room he was in and could see the closet had each piece backlit so it was obvious where everything was. Henry was gazing at his collection with a critical glint as he touched a grey overcoat. One of several colors of the same coat. "You know I do donate to climate change relief efforts every time I dry clean anything. So it does even out. A lot of these pieces also come to me for practically nothing through the stylist friends that Michael is in touch with in London so nothing here is worth amy real loss to me. That"s why you can see there are doubles or triples of some items."
