Chapter 8 – Crown Prince Pei Yuan Xiu
Once our eyes got used to the glare of the sun, we could finally clearly see the person in front. Yu Er"s legs immediately turned to jelly as she knelt down in a heartbeat.
"Your Highness Crown Prince…"
The person standing in front of us had a tall figure. He wore robes as white as snow and under the sunlight, his exceptionally dazzling looks were emphasized. He looked flawless with that jade-like face and those especially clear eyes. Under the sun"s rays, the corner of his mouth lifted up slightly,
He, is the current crown prince Pei Yuan Xiu.
Yu Er who was kneeling at the side trembled incessantly. She didn"t know how long he had stood outside and how much he had heard, because judging by what she was talking about earlier, dying 10 deaths wouldn"t even be enough.
With that being said, I also started to get nervous.
We stayed kneeling on the floor, hearing footsteps come nearer. White legs slowly came to view and a warm voice over our heads rang. "Rise."
I supported Yu Er and slowly stood up.
Pei Yuan Xiao stared at the trembling Yu Er. "What"s your name?"
"This, This servant is, is called Yu Er."
"Yu Er? You aren"t one of the inner storehouse"s court maids, are you?"
I glanced at him and quickly said. "Yu Er was here to help this servant tidy up the storehouse and just finished her duty. Yu Er, you should go back first."
After finis.h.i.+ng, I secretly pinched her, Yu er caught on and bent over to salute. "If the prince doesn"t have any other instructions, this servant will withdraw first." After finis.h.i.+ng, she staggered out and even b.u.mped into the door frame.
Pei Yuan Xiu looked at her panicked figure disappearing at the door before looking back at my badly shaken face and seemingly laughed. He didn"t say anything however, and just turned to walk towards the bookshelf. I also followed quickly and saw him lift his hand, slender white finger tips slowly glided across the different book t.i.tles but even after a long time, he didn"t take out any book.
I pondered for a bit and went to one of the other bookshelves and found the book that he had noted down before called The Thirteen Confucian Cla.s.sics and offered it up to him.
He looked at me, lightly laughed and took this book.
In reality, even though Yu Er mentioned that this inner storehouse is a place where "birds won"t even come to s.h.i.+t", it"s not entirely correct.
n.o.body visited the places throughout the year when I was a.s.signed to maintain the inner storehouse by Yau Ying Xue. After some time pa.s.sed, I gradually got used to it. Sometimes, I"d even secretly take books to read, and even though I only recognized a few words, reading these ancient texts was better than one person sitting alone and daydreaming.
One day two years ago, when I was in the middle of reading a book of poems, the door was suddenly pushed open.
The person who walked in, was Pei Yuan Xiu.
I still remember that he was dressed entirely in white, and slowly walking in under the sunlight, looked like a G.o.d had just descended, an immortal who was banished and came to earth. All those descriptions about G.o.ds in ancient texts couldn"t rival a thousandth of his beauty.
For the sake of finding an ancient text, he came here, and coincidentally, it was a book that I read before, and without much effort, I took it from a bookshelf and offered it to him, I still kind of remembered that when he accepted the book, he had a twinkling peculiar look of radiance in his eyes.
From then on, he would always visit, and I would always be at the side silently waiting to attend.
However, we had never spoken a single sentence to each other.
At this moment, the inner storehouse resumed its original tranquility, he lowered his head and slowly read while I stood at the side, secretly raising my eyes to look at him.
