Chapter 76: This is the Line Between Life and Death

It was a meeting between a lonely man and woman at midnight. The beautiful woman was only wearing underwear, which created an unspeakable scenery. Qian Jin could maintain his himself when killing people or dodging a dozen knives. He could execute his plans perfectly, as he had superior emotional intelligence and a very tough mind.

However, when faced with this very special and unexpected situation, he almost got a nose bleed. He was a virgin so he couldn’t be blamed, since the situation was very seductive and intriguing.

A hint of surprise showed on Gomez Jane’s delicate and quiet face. She frowned as she looked out of the window at the source of the noise. She quickly swung her hands and put on her pajamas instantly.

Compared with her underwear, the white silk pajamas that she wore gave off a hidden and concealed temptation. Her beauty didn’t diminish at all; it simply changed to another form.

“You?” Gomez Jane walked up and closed the window. She then turned around and looked at Qian Jin and asked, “What’s going on?”

Qian Jin shook his head forcefully and shook the image of Gomez Jane in her underwear out of his head. He calmly replied, “When I was on my way back to the academy, three warriors on the road suddenly wanted to kill me, so I killed them.”

Although Gomez Jane appeared calm, she still couldn’t hide her slight surprise. “A warrior of this age isn’t anxious or nervous after killing three warriors? He spoke like it was one of the most common things ever. How many more secrets does this Qian Jin have?’ she thought to herself.

“Before the last warrior was killed by me, I was able to get some information from him. It was Lucas’ Blacksmith Shop who hired them to kill me.” Qian Jin spoke faster as the knocking on the door became more aggressive. “I’m afraid that I’m being secretly monitoring; they have traced my track. There will be a lot of trouble if I go back to academy now. I killed some people, so it could either be big trouble or nothing at all. There are people in the academy that hate me and want me gone. I’m not sure if they are going to take action tonight or not…”

“Got it.” Gomez Jane lightly nodded her head. She started to walk out the room. “Just stay here; no one can harm you. Let’s go to the wine cellar. We can grab a gla.s.s of wine.”

Qian Jin followed Gomez Jane and walked out of the room as well. He heard people shouting viciously outside of the courtyard. “We suspect that a murderer has entered this property.”

Outside of the courtyard, the rude and blunt shout resonated under the quiet night sky. The soldier’s vicious roar was filled with a domineering and arrogant att.i.tude.

Every city’s guardian had different personalities and behaviors, which caused different levels of recognition and fame in their cities. Some cities’ guardians were very outspoken, so everyone in the city knew which house and which property belonged to the city’s guardian. Either the City’s Defense Force or Security Force or another organization would walk around the guardian’s place to not upset them.

Other cities’ guardians were very low-key and kept to themselves; they didn’t want to be the center of attention. That usually resulted in many security forces not knowing which property belonged to their city’s guardian; they were the ones who were supposed to know every that occurred in the city.

Fabreidis could be counted as a low-key city guardian. Only the generals of the Security Force, the general of City Defense Force, and the leaders of some industries knew who the guardian was; for other people not on the list, they wouldn’t know who Fabreidis was even if they met him face to face.

Bam! A deep and heavy collision noise sounded outside of the courtyard. Gasps, roars, and metal collision noises that would only sound when swords and blades were pulled out of their scabbards could be heard in this little s.p.a.ce.

“How dare you sneak attack our captain? What do you want?”

“Surround him! This guy must be related to the murder!”

Fabreidis looked at the people who had their weapons draw out and surrounded his house as he sighed. It was difficult to work in the military and special forces; therefore, it was normal for them to gain some benefits and money from rich people when they got into trouble. However, that meant that they would be messing around with the city’s guardian.

“I won’t talk to you guys. Tell your general to come see me,” Fabreidis said as he turned his head around and looked at the light coming from the wine cellar. He then swung his arm in the air as he pointed his fingers downward at the ground. The dust was sent into the air, and a straight line was drawn onto the ground as if it was drawn by an iron sword. “Except for your general, prepare a coffin before you cross this line,” Fabreidis said casually.

Warrior energy! The soldiers who were making noises and causing a scene immediately fell into complete silence, as if they were under a petrification spell. “He can send his warrior energy out of his body and leave a line on the ground without touching it! This… this is something that only Demon Fighters can do! My G.o.d! I have never heard of any Demon Fighter aside from the mayor! Even Zhang Mumbai, the general of City Defense Force, is only a level 9 warrior.” This thought went through many of the soldier’s mind.

“Demon Fighter? City guardian?” The soldiers weren’t stupid. They all lowered down their breathing as they stared at Fabreidis, who was walking away, in reverence.

“It looks like you were right.” Gomez Jane poured Qian Jin a gla.s.s of wine as she said, “There are people monitoring you in dark.”

Qian Jin took the cup full of wine as he stood by the window. He frowned as he looked at the street that was lit up by the torches. Those soldiers came here very specifically; the fact that they were so united and so certain of themselves led to one explanation: someone gave them the information.

Fabreidis pushed the door open and walked into the wine cellar. He had a surprised, yet understanding expression on his face as he looked at Qian Jin. “What happened?” he asked.

“Murder.” Gomez Jane poured herself a gla.s.s of wine and held it in her hand elegantly. “Someone is trying to kill him,” she said.

Qian Jin nodded, but he didn’t drink the wine. He had gotten used to deadly situations and blood on the West Mountain in the Endless World. He didn’t need red wine to calm himself down after killing three warriors in an instant.

Outside of the courtyard, a big man who wearing a full suit of armor squeezed through the crowd; he walked through the gate directly into the courtyard. Qian Jin recognized this person. He was the general of the City Defense Force! Although Qian Jin didn’t know his name, he had level 9 warrior energy, and he was quite a character in the small Oakland City. He had even gone to Oakland Academy to make a speech. His demeanor while walking and talking was quite bold and unconstrained. When he wasn’t making a speech in the academy, words like “those d.a.m.n demons” and “those f*cking demons” filled his mouth, as if he didn’t know how to speak or express his rough att.i.tude without swearing.

“The General of Oakland’s City Defense Force, Zhang Mumbai, is here to request to see Mr. Guardian this late at night.”

Outside of the cellar, Zhang Mumbai slightly bowed and gave a warrior salute. Although his voice was still rough, the swearing that usually filled his words was missing.

“Do you have something to tell me?” Fabreidis asked as he sat down and held up a gla.s.s of wine. Although he raised his eyelids, he didn’t have any intention of letting Zhang Mumbai into the room. “Speak,” he said coldly.

Zhang Mumbai slightly raised his head and peeked at Qian Jin who was sitting in front of the window. He said quietly with his deep voice, “Mr. Guardian, a very serious murder occurred in public tonight at Oakland. We chased after the suspect, but he suddenly disappeared around the corner here…”

“Ok, I understand. If I see the murderer, I will capture him and bring him to the mayor myself,” Fabreidis said as he waved his hand. “You can leave now.”

“Eh…” Zhang Mumbai’s body became stiff; both of his feet didn’t move at all. He had a very unwilling expression on his face as he looked at Qian Jin. Lucas had already messaged him; the murderer was Qian Jin. If he could lock Qian Jin up in the city’s jail and kill this warrior student who seemed to have no significant family background “accidentally”, he would get a big lump sum of gold coins.
