Chapter 1: First Dream – Toki My body was weak from birth. When I was twelve, I was diagnosed with a heart disease. Now it was difficult breathing just taking a light stroll.
When I got sick, my originally not wealthy family fell into poverty. My father’s earnings weren’t enough, so my mother started working. They would visit once every three days. But then it became once a week, then once a month.
Within ten minutes after coming to my hospital room, they fell apart. The talkative nurses, they said it was because my father was having an affair.
And then one day, they divorced. Neither of them wanted to take responsibility for me. I understood their reasons. The visits decreased even more.
I had a dream when I was 14. A young man with tied up blond hair that reached their shoulders was looking at a mirror. Clear blue eyes and wheat-coloured skin, he was like a young lion.
Vivid blue decorative cloth the same colour as his eyes and a cream coloured cloth were wrapped around his waist. The gems and golden chains adorning his tanned bare skin gave it a unique sensuality, the rough appearance seemed to suit him really well. He was like a prince from a southern country.
The young man walked away when he was called by someone. He wore strapped sandals and anklets that gave a clear ringing sound, his hair ornaments swayed to follow.
Arriving at a large hall-like place, it was overflowing with people wearing gorgeous costumes who all raised their voices simultaneously and clapped their hands in joy.
Ahead was a giant king sitting on a golden chair, the young man got down on his knee placing his hand on top. Amongst the chattering, the sitting king’s mouth fell open. The voice ceased the noisy chatter.
『×××、××××××、×× a.s.sam.』
Only a.s.sam could be heard. It sounded like the name of a tea, but it seemed to be the name of the prince? The king said a.s.sam several times, the prince nodded.
Eventually the vision slowly became dark. Weight returned to my body and my consciousness emerged. I opened my eyes to the familiar white hospital room.
“A dream? It felt so real.”
Seeing a radiant room erupting with joyful people in high spirits. There was a beautiful and strong prince. It would be nice to ask for something like that. I got up but couldn’t leave the bed. I’ll write it in my notebook. I recalled the dream of the world that made my heart race.
That this dream would be the beginning of everything, I was yet to find out.
