As she felt bored, Song Dei Si decided to raid the kitchen to cook some dishes and bring it to Yan Enterprise before lunch. She initially planned to cook pork stew again but since she cooked it for Yan Mor Tee nights ago, she decided to cook for another dish.
She suddenly remember how Yan Mor Tee loved the Filipino food they had when they made a trip to the Philippines on their honeymoon.
What"s that called again? She tried to remember it. It almost looked like a pork stew but the taste was different.
She searched for the most favorite Filipino food in Baidu and a smile curved her lips when she saw a familiar dish.
Pork Adobo. That"s how it called. She looked for the recipe video and was excited to learn the dish.
She was amazed as she watched the video. Ingredients quite easy to find and steps were easy to follow. Overall it quite an easy dish but how come it taste wonderful. She still remember how good it was. The taste of a combined soy sauce and vinegar in a pork plus the sautéed onion and garlic and black pepper with its leaves makes the taste flavorful.
She was in the middle of sautéing the chopped garlic and onion when Master Yan popped in the kitchen.
"I suddenly went here in the kitchen because of that delicious smell and was surprised to see that it was you who are here. Then I also remember that you quit your job because you wanted to pursue your dream of becoming a restaurateur. What are you cooking? It smells good." Master Yan looked at the frying pan and saw a garlic and and an onion and was surprised again. "So that good smell just came from these two?"
Song Dei Si made a soft laugh. "I am cooking a Filipino dish that Yan Mor Tee and I liked when we travelled to the Philippines. It"s called pork adobo!"
"Wow so your learning a new recipe".
"I am trying but I cannot guarantee that it would taste the same like the Filipino local dis.h.!.+"
"Can I have a taste of it?"
"Once I"m done I will spare some for you"
"Are you going to bring this to Yan Mor Tee?"
She nooded as she took off the sautéed garlic and onion from the frying pan and replaced it with the pork.
"Yan Mor Tee is such a spoiled husband huh? When I was working my a.s.s off during the early stage of my marriage, I always wanted your mother-in-law to pop into my office and bring me lunch but it never happened so I stopped wis.h.i.+ng anyway."
Song Dei Si felt that sudden sadness in her father-in-law voice.
"Does mom knew how to cook?"
"Not sure tho. She never prepared a single meal for me since we got married."
"Oh!" She exclaimed.
"Maybe her interest is different from other women so that"s okay"
"Why don"t you ask her to cook a food for you?"
"I am afraid that she will refuse."
She looked at her father-in-law.
"If she refused then try to ask her again until she gets tired of you asking her and finally cook for you."
Master Yan laughed on her suggestion.
"That is certainly a good idea." He said as he went to the fridge to get some cold beer.
Song Dei Si frowned when she saw that Master Yan was drinking a beer.
"Dad is beer good to your health?"
"If it"s taken in moderation so it"s okay."
"But isn"t it bad to drink that early in the morning?" Song Dei Si was still worried.
"Okay, okay!" Master Yan lifted his hands. I"ve got this, I have a very strict daughter-in-law!" He then suddenly emptied the bottle in the sink and throw it to the trash can.
"I"m just concern to your health, Dad. We don"t want to lose you early in this world!"
"Stop your worry! I will strive to live longer so I can still carry my grandchildren into my arms!"
"That"s the spirit dad!" She raised her hand to make a high five to Master Yan. She and her own father always done that whenever one was doing great or if suddenly they have the same idea.
Master Yan was hesitated at first but lifted his hand again to met the right hand of his daughter-in-law which was still in mid-air.
A sudden joy appeared at the corner of his heart. Song Dei Si was the epitome of the daughter he always wanted to have.
He was glad he found a daughter in her.
