[T/N: Sorry I"m a bit late. The internet was h.e.l.la slow yesterday, I had to wait for past midnight to post this. Oh well, it"s still Friday in some parts of the world...]
A group of people played cards and ate noisily until ten o"clock in the evening, and then went to the bar to continue their fun.
Seeing that Qin Shaocheng wanted to slip away, Wei Feng hooked his arm around his shoulder and deliberately said out loud: "You single dog, will it kill you to stay out late at night? Ms. Pingping didn"t even complain."
"Yeah, Qin Ge should stay. I don"t usually come here, but it"s nice to have fun during the Spring Festival."
Qin Shaocheng couldn"t say that Jiang Yishan woke him up at dawn, so he spent another day outside. Later, in the evening, while they were eating, he wanted to say that he didn"t drink, but before he could, someone had already placed a gla.s.s of white wine in front of him. He was a light drinker, but he had to drink a lot while at the bar. Fortunately, Wei Feng knew that he couldn"t drink. While no one was looking, he changed Qin Shaocheng"s gla.s.s.
By the time they finished, it was already close to one o"clock.
Qin Shaocheng, the only one who didn"t drink much, and Zeng Pingping, who didn"t touch the wine at all, arranged taxis for everyone and took them to the car one by one. In the end, only Wei Feng was left behind. Qin Shaocheng intended to drive Zeng Pingping home in Wei Feng"s car, while he and Wei Feng will find a subst.i.tute driver.
Wei Feng"s tongue curled after drinking too much. When he shouted, he could not speak clearly. "No! Find me a valet. You take Pingping back!"
Zeng Pingping said, "Boss Wei, I can drive back by myself. Be careful on the way back with Cheng Ge."
"Qin Shaocheng, look at you. Are you a man!"
Qin Shaocheng was afraid that Wei Feng would act crazy and make a fool of himself. He could not persuade him for a long time, so he had to find a valet. But as soon as he took out his mobile phone, he heard Jiang Yishan"s voice behind him.
"Shaocheng."
Qin Shaosheng turns his head.
Jiang Yishan wore a cap, and the street light illuminated half of his face. "I saw the photos from Wei Feng"s friends. I guess you must have drunk too much. I came to pick you up."
The first thing Zeng Pingping noticed about Jiang Yishan was the clothes that didn"t fit him. The woman was especially careful to matters about her sweetheart. The clothes were obviously Qin Shaocheng"s. Looking at Jiang Yishan"s face, she felt he looked very familiar but couldn"t she couldn"t remember his name.
On the other hand, Wei Feng, who was fainting right next to her, when he saw Jiang Yishan"s face as the lights of a vehicle pa.s.sing by reflected on him, he got up and started scolding him. "f.u.c.k! It"s Jiang Yi-"
"Wei Feng!" Qin Shaocheng shouted.
Zeng Pingping"s heart was stormy.
Although it was Chinese New Year, there were still many people at the entrance of the bar. Jiang Yishan lowered the brim of his cap.
Wei Feng was stunned for a moment and then realized he had to lower his voice. You dare to come here. Are you taking advantage of Lao [1] Qin"s heart?"
Qin Shaocheng opened the door and pushed Wei Feng into the back seat before closing the door cleanly. Turning around, he handed the car key of Wei Feng to Zeng Pingping, and his eyes motioned for Jiang Yishan beside him: "His situation is particularly inconvenient. Today, I have wronged you. You have to go back on your own. When Wei Feng wakes up tomorrow, I"ll ask him to pick up your car."
Zeng Pingping looked at Jiang Yishan who didn"t say anything and nodded.
After seeing the Cayenne leave, Jiang Yishan took the car key from Qin Shaosheng and sat in the driver"s seat. Qin Shaosheng opened the other door and sat in the co-pilot.
Wei Feng in the back seat was holding his head and moaning: "I"m so dizzy. I barely held myself from vomiting when you pushed me in. And that grandson. [2]"
"I let him go," said Qin Shaocheng. "And don"t vomit in my car."
Jiang Yishan, who just took off his cap, put it on again.
"Get out of here. You should f.u.c.king let him go." Then Wei Feng asked without raising his head, "Who"s driving?"
"I am calling the driver."
"Where"s Zeng Pingping?"
"Back in your car."
"How could you let a woman drive back by herself? You call yourself a gentleman? Why are you so hard on your sister? [3] Ugh, my head hurts. I"ll sleep for a while." Wei Feng leaned against the back seat, closed his eyes, touched his round stomach and said, "Lao Qin, you are the one who is wrong for being too soft-hearted. He is cheating you money. Some people won"t change, but you can. Don"t worry if you can"t find love. I"ll help you look for someone young, beautiful and obedient."
Jiang Yishan looked at Qin Shaocheng.
Qin Shaocheng had no expression. "Don"t sleep; We"ll be at your house in a moment."
When they arrived at Wei Feng"s house, Qin Shaocheng helped Wei Feng up the stairs. Jiang Yishan wanted to help him, but Wei Feng was still muttering and scolding. "Don"t be so f.u.c.king shameless. I"m blocking you from ruining the New Year. This man is so awful! Right!?
Jiang Yishan heard Qin Shaocheng saying, "Yes."
He sat back in the car with his shoulders shrunken. He opened the window to dissipate the smell of alcohol in the car. He leaned on the steering wheel and looked at Qin Shaosheng from afar. He noticed Qin Shaocheng"s mobile phone on the central console. Pressing the home key, he saw a whole page of unread messages that were sent by him. His contact name in Qin Shaocheng"s phone was "Xiao Shan" [4]
He smiled and then looked as if he was about to cry.
He thought that what Wei Feng said was right. Qin Shaocheng was so good but he gave it to the wrong person.
Jiang Yishan was too bad. He didn"t deserve it.
Translator"s Notes
1 老 (lǎo)
Means "old." I"m a.s.suming Wei Feng here is using the term like how one would use "laozi" to express superiority... but for Qin Shaocheng; hence, Lao Qin.
2 孙子 (sūn zi)
Literally means grandson, but is another Chinese slang, I guess. Since Wei Feng refers to Qin Shaocheng as Lao Qin (old Qin, grandfather Qin), then it follows that Jiang Yishan is the "grandson." Here, the word is used to refer to someone inferior.
3 妹子 (mèi zi)
In China, "sister" doesn"t always refer to a blood relative. It can be also used to refer to close female friends.
4 小杉 (xiǎoshān)
Little Shan, the "Shan" from Jiang Yishan"s name. "Little" is added to his name as a way of calling him affectionately.
