Chapter 46

"Get away from my best friend, you monster!"

"Finn, what are you going!"

"What am I doing? Are you seriously asking me that, I"m protecting you from the monster!"

"Calm down, you got it all wrong!"

-Finn turned around and pointed at Rin"s bandaged up neck where the bite marks Roselin left him were nicely and slowly recovering and with an angry tone of voice said.

"Did I? From what I understand she bit you and tried to suck every last drop of blood from your body, what is there to get wrong?"

"Well you are right, but she couldn"t help herself, she was starving and needed..."

"I don"t care!"

-With pure rage and anger inside his eyes, he looked at Roselin who sat on the ground silently with a grim expression.

-She couldn"t say anything back as he was right, Roselin didn"t want to attack Rin nor suck his blood but the fact of the matter is that she couldn"t help herself, her survival instinct kicked in and there was nothing she could do to stop it.

"Look here you!"

-Fin once again turned around and walked up to Roselin. She was slowly getting up from the ground and when she did Finn was standing in front of her with a seriously angry look in his eyes, until today Rin had never before seen that look in his eyes, It was like an angry animal willing to go to any length to protect its family.

"I may look like someone who could be easily used or tricked, and I tried to help you out because I thought you were innocent and believed no one deserved to be treated like that because of a false rumor, but IF YOU THINK I"M GOING TO SIT ON MY TAIL AND WATCH YOU ATTACK BEST FRIEND WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING, YOUR IDELY MISTAKEN!"

"Rin is the only real friend I have, so if he"s in danger or any kind of trouble I"m not afraid to dirty my hand and protect him!"

"I sorry... I really am, It was never my intention... But I ended up hurting him... I"m sorry."

-As she apologized to him with her head bowed down, Roselin tried as hard as she could not too let her tears escape her eyes. She was once again sad about the things she did to him and the only thing she could do in front of his best friend was to bow her head and beg for forgiveness.

"I really... didn"t want to... take him away from you... I didn"t... But... I did something horrible... I"m sorry can you please forgive me..."

-Finn looked at her with a murderous gaze and a chilling feeling without saying a single word in response, he continued to listen to her apologies one after another as they came from her shaking lips and trembling mouth.

"... ..."

"Alright, that"s enough Finn! Can"t you see you"re making her cry?"

"No, I still have something to say to her!"

-Finn took off the hand Rin put on his shoulder as he tried stopping him and walked even closer to Roselin until he was face to face with her. He pulled his hand in the air with a fast and swift motion.

-Taking off the hand Rin had put on him, Finn walked a bit closer to Roselin and pulled his hand in the air.

"If you ever have an urge of drinking again, you"re always free to bite this neck, UNDERSTAND?"

-Roselin looked at him with a scared and confused face, she thought he was going to hit her but in fact, he put the hand on his neck and offered her his own blood to drink whenever she had a need to. Him doing this made her heart skip a beat for an unknown reason and made her even feel a little happy inside.

-Rin, who stood behind him had a gentle smile on his face, he was proud of him for saying that and happy he didn"t go any different routes. With the intense aura he was giving off Rin didn"t know what Finn was about to do, this was the first time ever he saw him act so mad. Even when they were kids Finn always stood up for him and even though he was angry a lot at him for causing unnecessary trouble, he never acted like this. It was like he was a completely other people.

"B-but?"

"UNDERSTAND?"

"Y-Yes!"

"Good, now let"s go Rin."

"Ah..."

-Roselin stopped him before he could leave, there was still one more thing she wanted to say to Finn and even though this wasn"t the best time she wanted to say it right now.

"Wait!"

-They stopped and Rin slightly turned his head towards Roselin, while Finn didn"t even do that. He stopped and just stood there with his back turned and listened to what she had to say to him.

"I just wanted to say... thank you... for trying so hard to help me, it means a lot to me."

"... I just did what I believed was right. There"s no need to thank me, monster."

-Hearing him say that word made her remember her past, one she didn"t like to remember. Although she didn"t take it to heart the first time he said it, hearing him call her that a second time and meaning it made her feel uncomfortable and slightly angry. Especially coming from a person she thought of very highly.

"Don"t call me that..."-She said silently.

"I"m sorry, what was that?"

-Pretending as though he didn"t hear her only made Roselin angrier, she remembered the kind words Rin told her and how he tried to make her laugh and feel better, Finn, on the contrary, seemed to enjoy calling her a monster, and she didn"t take that. Unlike before with the bullies when she just let it happen and didn"t fight back, now for whatever reason she didn"t like hearing that word coming from his mouth and told him straight up.

"I said, don"t call me a monster!"

"Then what am I supposed to call someone like you?"

"Anything else but that, It heart being called so."

"Don"t YOU understand that a single glimpse of your face right now makes me want to do all sorts of wrong things to you."

-Finn was filled with anger and rage, barely even able to contain himself. Seeing the person who hurt and almost killed his best friend made him want to punch and kick her so hard she wouldn"t be recognizable anymore. But he knew he couldn"t let temptation take over, he knew he couldn"t let "It" take over anymore then he already has.

-Not seeing Rin in five years and not knowing if he was dead or alive was one of the hardest struggles he ever had in life. The only and real reason he joined the magician"s hight was so he could one day go and find his friend, find out what actually happened to him and not let anything like that happen to anyone else. Never in his wildest dreams did he expect to meet him again here, on prestige island, and once he did it took everything he had to hide the true emotions he felt at that moment. If he didn"t he would have flooded the entire island with his tears.

-For the past five years, Finn spent every singe day worried about what had happened to him even blaming himself to be at fault do the last conversation they had ending the way it did. He knew doing so was stupid and wrong but he couldn"t help himself, every sing day his heart was filled with fear and his mind with various kinds of stories about what could have happened because the police but his case as missing and gave up on it, but even so, there wasn"t a single day that he didn"t pray to G.o.d for his safety.

-That"s why after he overheard from the teachers about what had happened, he rushed to Rin"s sight as fast as he could and even being so neglecting that he let "It" take control do to his heart being filled with hatred and anger for Roselin.

"I understand."

"...I really don"t want to see your face right now, I"m leaving."

"Me neither, goodbye."

-Roselin turned around and they each went in their separate directions with only one feeling burning ever so mighty inside their hearts, and that was the feeling of hatred for each other. Roselin knew where Finn was coming from but still didn"t like it when he called her a monster, she knew and thought of herself as one but hearing it coming from his mouth made her angry, and the same went for Finn. He had no other emotions for her except for anger, especially because she was a vampire, the same species that almost killed Rin in the OverWorld.

-Finn grabbed Rin"s hand and dragged him with him to the dorm. Although Finn and Roselin didn"t like each other, Rin was still friends with both of them and so as he was being dragged by Finn he simply waved his hand at Roselin as he was saying see you tomorrow.

-With both of them stirred up and angry at each other they went to their separate dorms to rest and cool off a bit. Rin, on the other hand, had other plans in mind. After talking to Roselin he only got more questions than answers and so he wanted to research the vampire subject a little bit.

-There were some dots that didn"t quite connect in his head. By his manner of speech and the clothes he wore it was clear that Vladimir, just like Alexander wasn"t from this time or century, furthermore, Roselin saying that her family had traditions meant they existed for more then hundreds of years and if that was the case it means they"re older then Sera itself.

"Such powerful creatures and they existed centuries if not decades before humans gained these abilities. This leaves me with the question of how they got this power."

"If I was to a.s.sume Vladimir was around two, maybe even three hundred years old and his ability was to change his skin to liltanium and other metals, that still leaves him with three abilities being super regeneration, flight and Canibal mode."

"He had abilities before humans even gained the power to awaken them, and he possessed not one but four of them, how is that possible?"

"From my fight with Roselin, I can say surely that she as well possesses multiple abilities. First her Euphoria, then that power that enhanced her speed and strength the more tiered she became, and lastly that unknown power she told me she was born with, eleven years before we awoke our

abilities."

"... I wonder, could I gain multiple abilities just like them?"

-The more he thought about it the more interested he became. The fact of the matter is that both Vladimir and Roselin are very powerful individuals at their own right, possessing multiple abilities that could come pretty useful in battle, so if he could obtain the same power they possessed he would surely become more powerful, and that was an opportunity he couldn"t miss.

"I have to find out more about them, but how?"

-The first thing that popped into his mind was the school library. Unlike all other libraries around the world, this one and the one in the Magicians a.s.sociation HQ contained all the knowledge of human history from thousands of years ago to the present day. It was the place where the archeological course students spent most of their time in the study week, and that was the place he went to.

-Entering through the door, Rin asked the librarian to show him where the history, supernatural, monster and books about legends were located. At first, he gave him a confused look, but he didn"t want to question him about it as it seemed to be too big of a bother. He could start talking about that stuff which really irritated the librarian because he didn"t like it when he had to listen to kids go on tangents about the subjects they liked and were interested in, so he simply pointed towards the fifth row.

-The first thing he thought to himself as he walked down towards the fifth row, was just how big this library was. In comparison, it was the same as their entire dormitory and from top to bottom it was filled with books. It stretched out to eight rows with three floors, making it twenty-four rows in total. Its humongous size was due to the thousands upon thousands of books on human history and other works of literal art stored here.

"Here!"

-Arriving in front of it he turned right and walked in. He looked around himself and first searched for books about monsters. The one he found had a distinguished look too it and was named the "Monster encyclopedia". By the design and name of the book he might have hit a gold mine from the very beginning, so he opened it up and started going through its pages. It didn"t take him long to close the book altogether and start searching for another one.

- The so-called monster encyclopedia was filled with made-up stories and facts about all sorts of monsters that people invented, and the fact it said nothing about the vampire"s abilities he knows from personal experience a.s.sured him the book was full of bull c.r.a.p.

"Nothing..."

-He put the book back where he found it and pulled out another one. This one was located much higher than the Monster encyclopedia and he needed to use the lather to get to it. The book he took was called "Mysterious creatures and their existence", but after sitting down and giving it a read he concluded it was just like the other one and put it back.

-Rin knew how Vampires acted and what they"re capable of because of his battles with Vladimir and Roselin alike, he knew these books weren"t what he was looking for and were written by people who didn"t know Vampires actually existed. The best examples were the weaknesses that the Vampires have such as the garlic, sunlight, cross, and stake through the heart.

-He himself witnessed Roselin being on the scorching sun as well as eating a dish that has garlic as one of its main ingredients and nothing happened, so those things went out of the window, and a stake through the heart would kill anyone, not just a Vampire.

-He let out a long sigh and continued with his search.

"What"s next... Supernatural"

-Putting the Mysterious creatures and their existence back, the next book he took was "Supernatural", but he didn"t have many expectations that he"ll find anything useful in it, and just as he thought he didn"t. The book was filled with made-up stories for kids and little children, just like the other ones.

"Nothing, d.a.m.n it... It"s only six-fifteen, I still have some time."

-Seeing as it wasn"t so late he decided to stay a little longer. After going through all the well-known ones he saw that it wasn"t going anywhere and so he took a whole ton of books from the shelves that had any kind of connection to Myths, legends, vampires and monster folklore all together. Dozens of supernatural books covered his desk, but after spending another four hours going through all of them he came to a singular conclusion.

"This is a waste of time!"

-There was nothing useful written in any of the books and it was already eleven fifteen and both his mind and body were tired from everything that happened today.

"What do I do now?"-He asked himself as he was at a dead end. Knowing that if he continued searching all he would find would be made up stories for kids, so he called it a night and went back to his dorm.

-But as he was pa.s.sing through the supermarket located in the middle of the school and their doors, one particular store couth his attention. It was an electronics store and on its gla.s.s display was an item he wanted to buy as soon as he got here, but forgot due to all the stuff that had happened. It was a new Hp laptop, and as soon as he saw it a light bulb appeared above his head as he felt stupid for not thinking of this idea earlier.

"The internet!"

-Seeing the laptop, he thought to himself that it might not be such a bad idea looking it up online. There are millions of people who put their stories on Reddit and other similar websites, so if he were to dig a little he was sure to come across something useful.

"I might as well, I"ll need it for other school stuff as well."
