KKKS! KKKS! KKKS![System rebooting...]
Everything surrounding him was in pure darkness yet he could still see the floating translucent plate ever since his vision went black. With his anger prevailing, he was in the strong edge of throwing the plate away from his face, however, he could not do it while he was in the darkness.
And shortly, in his surprise, the plate was gradually becoming blurry until he could not see it as it had vanished from the dark.
Well, at least that was what Eddra thought.
All of a sudden, the same feeling of the ground moving Eddra sensed when he was in the war started forming the fear in him. Eddra did not want to experience the war anymore, which was the reason why he declined the offer of the mysterious plate.
As the ground stopped moving, and that he was still in the same darkness, Eddra felt relieved. Why would he wish to reset his life? To experience the same hardship when he was in the military? He would rather die.
"Hehe." Eddra strangely heard a short laugh a minute after the shaking, causing him to knot his eyebrows.
"... I can now feel my eyebrows?"
Following the short laugh, a pain swiftly trailed on his chest, causing him to huff out and had difficulty breathing.
"Ack!" The pain of which pushed his chest down made him open his eyes, and suddenly giving the light way in the darkness resulted in his temporary blindness.
"Who...?" he mumbled while he was waiting for his vision to turn back normal.
Ding!
"Hehe! Mother, I woke him up! I woke, older brother Ed!" The familiar high-pitched voice of a girl squealed on top of her lungs almost near his ear, which made him unaware of the short ring sound that came from the [System].
As his vision slowly went back to normal, Eddra faced where the familiar voice was coming from but was unexpectedly greeted with the hunting translucent plate.
[Location: Town of Piethe]
"Holy s.h.i.t!!" As if they were rounding turns, Eddra soon followed and dwelled in with the squealing of his youngest sister. From the appearance of the plate he thought left and blend in along the darkness, Eddra abruptly forgot how to breathe through his nose.
"Older brother..." the cutest of all his siblings called him with her little voice. "What is holy s.h.i.t? Are you praying for an angel like what Mother does every night?" she continued then moved forward to him, pervading through the plate in between.
"Stop. Don"t move, Allie." With confusion drawn in her face, Allie instantly stopped after hearing her older brother"s command. "Can"t you see this?" she heard him ask, bringing a hand almost on her face.
Creasing her forehead, Allie tilted her head on one side. "What "this"...?" As she saw her brother opened his jaw, she immediately knew something was going on. "... I"m going to see Mother!!"
Eddra, who was convinced the plate was hunting him, refused to make a move on his bed. What was going on? He was waiting for death as he took shade on a tree like 10 minutes ago. How did he make it back to... his family"s house?
So now that his youngest sister left him alone, trotting her way out, he got the chance to monitor the room he was in, and Eddra noticed that the furniture was just as similar when he left for the military. No one even dared to move his things, like it was 3 years ago.
As he swarmed his way off his bed, he stood beside a window. Ignoring the translucent plate before his eyes, he noticed the servants arranging a table outside even though the cloud looked dark as if the rain would pour anytime. Did an idiot person order them to prepare a table there?
Chuckling to himself, Eddra remembered the time when it rained on the day of him turning to an adult. For some reason, that day, Eddra wished to celebrate it on their garden, however, in a minute before it started, heavy rain poured down, bathing all the members of the family.
"... Brings back the memories."
As he was busy recollecting the days before he joined the military, Eddra heard a knock on the door. "Milord, this is Gale." Hearing the person behind the door declared his arrival, Eddra"s face lightened immediately.
Gale was the butler of their family. He was the one who took care of him when he was young, and he snapped when he heard Eddra was joining the military. Gale was like a father to him, and Eddra was just devastated as her Mother delivered a letter to him while he was in the military, telling him that Gale sent his resignation 2 years after he left the house.
Maybe he was too old, Eddra thought. This was why he was so delighted to see the man he treated like his father. "Gale! You"re back!"
"... Yes, I am?" With full confusion painted on his face, Gale simply closed the door behind him. "Milord, we need to you to prepare immediately. The family is waiting downstairs at the entrance door."
"Okay. So, what is the table outside all about?"
"... Milord, it is you who ordered us to prepare a table outside."
"But the rain will pour any minute now--" the sudden realization swiftly made its way to his mind-- "You"re joking, right?"
"Am I joking? No, I"m afraid not, Milord."
"Don"t tell me today is the day I"ll turn to adulthood?"
"... Yes, Lord Eddra."
Ding!
