Rong Ming was a friend he made in University. He was a prominent executive now for the Entertainment Industry. He fooled around with a lot of women before, but in the end, he retired his hobbies when he met his now-wife.

It was only Rong Ming in the booth when he approached and sat on the leather sofas that surrounded a round table. He still looked the same years ago, only his features sharper.

"Sheng, what compelled you to summon me away from my dear wife."

"Tell Rong Sying that I say h.e.l.lo," Song Sheng said with a smile.

"I won"t relay any messages to my wife that came from other men. Remember that Sying was interested in you first before she met me."

Song Sheng smirked. "Afraid I"ll steal your wife?" he questioned Rong Ming.

Rong Ming rolled his eyes. "Why did you call me?" he asked.

"I wanted to drink," responded Song Sheng.

Rong Ming raised an eyebrow. It was rare for Song Sheng to drink in public. It usually occurred in his home when they were younger and fooled around.

Rong Ming requested the server to send them a few rounds of something strong and expensive. The server later appeared with vials of amber looking liquid. They downed a couple of shots before Rong Ming asked, "How"s your family?"

"As good as they can be," Song Sheng said, straight to the point.

"Song Ren, is she adjusting to her new position?" Rong Ming asked.

"I believe so."

"And the twins?"

"They"re attending school."

"Song Mei, how is she holding up?"

Song Sheng took another shot, the alcohol burning his throat. "She"s doing well from what I know."

"Good," Rong Ming began, "We all know that Xiao Mei had trouble making friends growing up. She was very quiet and delicate."

Rong Ming recalled when he first met Song Sheng"s sister. He was surprised to see that Song Mei was the only one in the family who did not inherit typical features from the Song Family.

But Song Sheng a.s.sured him that she inherited recessive traits from their maternal grandmother who had light hair. Regardless, Rong Ming also knew that she was a good and smart girl despite having trouble to adjust to things she was not ready. And Song Sheng was always by her side.

"How are things going with your wife?" Song Sheng asked.

"Why do you want to know so much about Sying?" Rong Ming questioned.

Song Sheng chuckled as he downed another drink. "You used to fool around, and when you met Sying, you"ve changed and never told me why."

Rong Ming loosed a deep breath. "When I met Sying, she wanted you. Sying knew you were my best friend and asked me for help. Of course, I told her to get lost, but she was persistent. But then I felt compelled to help because of her determination and partly because you never had a girlfriend."

Rong Ming smiled and laughed as he reminisced the past. "I spent more time with her as she chased you. Over time, I realized that every time we were together, I caught myself staring at her. I looked forward to our time, and she surprised me time and time again. She was truly a free-spirit, and I admired her for it. Later, when she was about to confess to you, I delved the courage to confess first."

"I confused her. She did not speak to me for days, and I called her again to tell her that she and I could still be friends. She asked me to meet with her, and she accepted my feelings." Rong Ming finished. "Of course, you can guess what happens after."

Song Sheng smiled at the story. He was glad that his friend ended up with Sying. She was a good-natured girl, but Song Sheng would never have been interested.

"Why do you ask?" questioned Rong Ming, "Do you finally have a special lady in your life?"

Song Sheng downed two more drinks. "I"m not sure," he said. Rong Ming gaped in surprise.

"Who?" he asked, "Do I know her?"

Song Sheng shook his head, "you don"t know her," he lied.

"How do you feel when she"s around?"

Song Sheng exhaled deeply. "Excited. Tortured. Aroused."

Rong Ming smiled. "And why do you feel so down? Did this girl reject you?"

"No," he began, "but no one would approve of us being together," Song Sheng finished.

Rong Ming felt puzzled, "Why?"

"Our family," he said.

"Would the Song Family not approve of her?" Rong Ming asked.

Song Sheng nodded. His head felt heavy from the alcohol.

"I"m sure you get together with her, I will make sure of it. What"s her name?" he asked. But Song Sheng rested his head on the table, his consciousness slowly slipped away.

He was drunk. Rong Ming did not know where he lived as Song Sheng recently moved into a new apartment. And he could not take him to his home because he did not want to wake his child.

Rong Ming was not sure what to do, so he grabbed Song Sheng"s phone and dialled "Xiao Mei," on his phone.
