Qian Meigui moved out of his embrace, staring over at the now-deep purple sky. They both heard someone come into the living s.p.a.ce. "Ren is home!" Song Jinyi said.
Song Sheng and Qian Meigui awkwardly gave her a nod of their heads. Qian Meigui was the first to leave and follow after Jinyi. Song Sheng watched as they disappeared, and he ran a hand through his dark locks, wondering what the f.u.c.k he was supposed to do.
When he held Qian Meigui high in his arms, he felt excited. He was happy for what she had accomplished on her own, and he could not help it. Once he grasped her, it was an excuse to hold her, to breathe in her scent, to feel her body, but he let his feelings sway. He almost gave into pouncing on her when she gazed into his eyes with her deep, brown doe eyes. Her long wavy brown hair cascaded down her to the mid back, framing her face perfectly. Song Sheng liked her hair most; it was his favourite thing about her, and he dreamt of the times when he could hold her without being afraid.
He was here for Song Ren, he had to remind himself. But Song Sheng realized he was here for Qian Meigui more. He missed having her around his apartment complex, even the bell boys had asked about her. He glared at them but also a.s.sured that she would return soon, for a visit.
Song Sheng loosed a deep breath before going back inside. He found Qian Meigui and Song Jinyi smiling at Song Ren near the entrance of the house. Su Feng was standing behind her, watching her with unreserved affection. Song Sheng let the girls talk to each other, excitement filling the room, Song Ren"s engagement ring glimmering against the crystal lighting of the house. He wondered if he would be able to be with a woman that he could love so openly.
He recalled his conversation with his father before he left the country. Qian Meigui was in danger of trying to find out who were the criminals responsible for her parent"s deaths. And what made him most anxious, was the fact that she was now practicing law, it made her far steps ahead. But he was also happy for her.
Most of the time, Song Sheng could not tell what she"s thinking, but what he knew was that she was smart and impulsive. That"s what made her so unique. Song Sheng always knew that Qian Meigui wanted to be like Song Ren growing up, but he was glad that now, she was starting to become more confident in herself.
He smiled slightly at the sight of them. He slowly approached the five of them; Song Jun was playing with his game device nearby.
Qian Meigui did not spare him a glance, but he figured that by the way he treated her, it was inevitable. He knew it; he was a d.a.m.n b.a.s.t.a.r.d. But now, he was determined to make it up to her.
Song Sheng went up to give Su Feng a handshake that turned into a half hug, where they both patted each other"s backs. Song Sheng smiled at him and said, "Welcome to the family."
Su Feng shook his hand again and said, "Thank you, Sheng." Song Ren glanced at both of them warmly. If it weren"t for her big brother, she wouldn"t have felt this blissful happiness. Song Ren held onto Su Feng"s hand while stepping closer to Song Sheng. "Thank you, brother," she said genuinely. Song Sheng knew what she was referring to, so he smiled at her with complete gentleness.
Su Feng bid them all good-bye, and the four of them left him to have a moment with his fiancée in the foyer. After a few minutes, Song Ren rejoined them in the living s.p.a.ce where they waited.
The twins sat on the floor in front of the low coffee table. Song Sheng sat on a single armchair, where Qian Meigui sat on a long couch alone when Song Ren joined next to her.
Song Jinyi and Song Jun were fighting over something as they murmured to each other. Eventually, Song Jinyi blurted out, "Congratulations Ren!" with a half-smile.
"You look so fake," Song Jun responded. Song Jinyi pinched her twin"s stomach, where it tickled. Song Ren smiled amusingly, but even a part of her face was grave. The room was cheerful yet very tense from everyone"s mood.
"What do you mean by that Song Jun?" asked Song Ren. Song Jun looked at his eldest sister, reluctantly. His jet-black hair had grown to his neck, unruly, yet he was still a handsome boy. Song Ren narrowed her eyes, waiting for an answer. Song Jun gulped, "We know what"s going on with Sun Group, they are trying to sabotage the company, and we have the right to know."
Song Ren looked at them with her gaze hard. But her expression slowly softened. "I know," she began. "You both are adults and will eventually inherit jobs," she paused. "Why did you think I have not kicked you both out of the room yet?" She questioned.
Song Jun was a typical, quiet, reserved boy who enjoyed the company of video games and books. So at the moment, Qian Meigui was surprised to see how Song Jun revealed a gentle expression because of what Song Ren said.
Song Ren continued, "Sun Group is after us. They have been an established company for a long time, and they will keep thriving for power in the medical industry. They tried to use Su Feng to get Song Corporation, but they don"t realize we are smarter than we appear. I need help from the four of you, to find something against Su Guiren or the chairman or anyone from that company because Su Feng should be the head of the company, not because of me, but because he cares about people over wealth."
Everyone gazed at her, already convinced. Simalteonously, they all nodded at her. Song Ren glanced at each of them, satisfied. "We have been invited to Long Group"s banquet. Every sophisticated and well-respected doctors, scientists, lawyers, and elites will be there. We will go too. You must all dress in your best and most expensive clothing, and together we will find something."
Song Ren paused then glanced at the girls, "Mei and Jinyi, don"t be afraid to flirt if need be." Song Jinyi winked at her, smiling with excitement, "you got it," she said. Qian Meigui nodded in response.
"Great that"s settled then. The banquet is this Thursday. Come with your best ideas," Song Ren said as she slowly rose from her seat, heading towards the staircase. Song Sheng kept quiet almost entirely, but Qian Meigui did not care.
She was more than happy to help Song Ren, but what she cared about most, was that she did not know how to dress, dance, or flirt!
