1923Oh, so many things to say. So much has changed. Casimir is in Europe with a monastery, trying to find peace in himself. I learned that over the last few hundred years, he has struggled even more against the Krznik and has lost a few times. I still feel he should allow it to surface more, that he should embrace the power of the Krznik rather than fight it but he still feels strongly about peace. I am not quite sure why or if there is even a reason but he has now locked himself up in a monastery to find his peace.
Lothair has begun to travel with Leon. Why? I do not know, but they are traveling the world to find some happiness of their own. I feel for the people they may encounter for they have no idea what those two are capable of. But I am glad that Lothair is with Leonidas, because I know that if Leon oversteps any boundaries or takes a life, Lothair will handle it.
Lena has left. She decided that now, with the world being a bit more liberal these days, she would like to see what is out there, alone, without me. It was crushing the day she told me. I fought against the idea of her being out there alone but I lost that battle. She left but I do not feel anger toward her for wanting to see the world. I know that she will return. She will come back.
In the meantime, I am guarding the Garrett family, keeping them safe. I have also found Silas. After many years without his compa.s.sionate company, I have found him again. He has decided to use his gift of compa.s.sion to help people. He has become a medicine man. Tending mortal wounds and saving mortal lives.
I found him in a hospital in Boston, where he works. I had been walking, when I felt him. I entered the hospital to find him over sick people. There had been some kind of epidemic that was spreading, so there were plenty of patients. I recognized him immediately, his blond hair and soft spoken voice was hard to mistaken, especially when he looked up at me.
"Dru?" he had asked.
"Silas," I answered. A smile crossed his face as he came to me, wrapping his arms around me. We stood a moment in the middle of the busy hallway holding each other before pulling away.
"How are you, Dru?" he asked.

"I"m alright, I guess."
"Well, now, may not be the best time but how about dinner, tonight? I have a friend I want you to meet, too."
"Sure, I would like that. We can catch up and you tell me what all you have done over the last few centuries," I laughed.
We made plans to meet at a quiet little restaurant in the outskirts of town. As I was heading there I came across a small group of vampire tormenting a young la.s.s. I decided to have a little fun myself before I met up with Silas and his friend so I turned on my seductive charm, my gift from Aphrodite, and approached them. "Why would you boys want a girl, when you could have a woman?" I taunted them to get their attention as I let my wrap fall to reveal my ample cleavage. They stopped and all looked at me. Letting the young la.s.s go, I motioned for her to run and she did. I walked in midst of these vampire and I could hear music from a nearby source. I began to dance to it, weaving my spell around them.
As they should, they began to l.u.s.t for me, nearly fighting each other to be close to me. I knew that they would follow me to the ends of the earth and I utilized it. "I want to play a game," I said in a low seductive voice. "Only one of you can have me. Now you decide who is it going to be?"
At that, they turned on each other and began fighting to the death. One, whom I didn"t see before, tormenting the girl, joined in the fight. He was tall with light brown hair and a perfect fair complexion. He was good. He beat the others without hesitation then looked at me and I decided to give him what he had won, a kiss, the kiss that would seal his fate.
As my lips touched his and the obsession entered, Silas yelled from down the alley. "No, Dru!" but it was too late.
I pulled back and looked at Silas, "What?"
"This is Aaron. He"s my friend. I saved him from this epidemic," he explained.
"Oh," I managed to say. I looked at Aaron and could see the spell in his light brown eyes. I turned back to Silas, "I can fix this. I don"t know how yet, but I will find a way. Come, let"s eat and we will figure this out."
We went to dinner and talked. Aaron listened intently as he watched every move that I made. Silas told me about his going to school to learn medical procedures so that he could save people. He told me about meeting Aaron and turning him to give him life. He was alone and needed someone to travel with, to share with. Aaron was young. Not but twenty. Of course, I didn"t look over twenty years old myself as I was bitten just before my eighteenth birthday. Silas felt badly about not being able to save his mortal life so he gave him an immortal one. He taught him to hunt animal as he did, not humans.
Now, Aaron was under my spell and obsessed with me. Eventually, after a few days of him following me around hopelessly and we not finding a counter spell, I kicked his a.s.s. I just wanted to make him hate me. Maybe it would break the spell. And it did. But he cried, he cried the entire time. He didn"t understand, he kept asking why I was doing it. I tried to explain that I had to do it to break the spell. I didn"t love him and it was unnatural for him to love me. I couldn"t leave him the way he was. Silas understood but stayed back knowing what I was trying to do. Silas had to keep distance because Aaron would lash out at him if he came near me. After a pretty bad beating, the spell broke and he struck back. I stopped him and he looked at me, Silas called to him and it was over.
Finally, I could meet Aaron, the real, natural Aaron. We"ve been together for a few years now. I don"t like being alone. Without Lothair, Casimir and Lena my life is so empty. But now, Silas fills that empty s.p.a.ce with his kindness, his compa.s.sion. Aaron is fun and sometimes reckless but he is a warrior at heart. He and Silas make a good team. Aaron and I have a thing going on. He"s sweet underneath his rugged exterior. He makes me feel special and we have a lot of fun hunting vampire together. My life is different now but it is nice. I"m just counting the days that Lena will come back. Until then, I shall enjoy what I have.
