Devil's Rise

Chapter 167

"Mother, why can"t I follow you and grandfather into the new world?" I asked.

This young lord was about to have the opportunity to follow the coattails of his grandfather, who was unrivaled in this world. How could this young lord ever give up the chance to be a silk pants? Even though I now understood the value of hard work, it wasn"t in my nature to avoid such a good ride.

"Weakness is a sin. Since you are weak you would only be seeking death by following this princess into that world," said my mother.

I clenched my fist. All my life my mother had told me I was weak and not to disappoint her. Forever I had been too weak or too unskilled to gain her notice. My sister had even been granted the gift to train under my mother for her talent. Was this young lord truly trash?

"Mother, am I truly trash?" I asked.

"No, but you have a tendency to indulge rather than provide. This princess can not have a useless son. Now run along James, you are wasting this princess" time," said my mother as she shooed me off.

"But Mom!" I said as a portal opened under my feet and I was teleported into a bedroom.

Mother was truly heartless, until the day I am stronger than her she will never respect this young lord. I can not live under my mother"s skirt like my father does. This young lord has dreams and ambitions. How dare she kill G.o.d"s precious resources.

Even if Miya was a wench and a cheat she was mine to punish. Mother is right, weakness is a sin. And this young lord shall not thread into the path of weakness. This is a true path of d.a.m.nation!

Power!

That was all that mattered in the Endless Abyss. With enough power, this young lord could make his own rules. I needed to get stronger.

"Dex, what"s the best way for me to get stronger, faster?" I said.

[Bark, absorbing talented souls is the best way for you to get stronger.]

[But you are in a mortal world so finding talented souls is exceedingly difficult for you.]

"Is there a solution?" I said.

[Bark, you are in an immortal sect.]

[You should see if they have any missions that will bring you in contact with those from immortal worlds.]

[Although killing them will be difficult for you.]

"The Codex can"t help me?" I said.

[Bark, the Codex isn"t magic. You just grasped Viscount Sword Dao in a month.]

[Bark, It took you 5 years to do that with Alchemy Dao.]

[Go find more victims.]

"What about all those Souls you grabbed at the city?" I said.

[Bark, trash. None of them are worth you spending time on.]

Looks like this young lord was heading to the Western Frontier while taking on sect missions in the near future. I could spend time studying the Daos in the Four Elements Scripture but it"s pointless. I"ll just find some victims who know the elements.

My Devil Dao progressed a bit after absorbing s.h.i.+ Da"s soul, so it seems absorbing souls could also help me with that. I didn"t have the time to sit and scry for people to lead to d.a.m.nation at the moment.

I decided to delve into blacksmithing in my free time. I began to forge a brand new blade, I hadn"t decided a name for it yet. I would name it after it was crafted.

I choose to craft this blade out of an alloy made of Void Ore. I didn"t practice the s.p.a.ce Dao, but maybe the victim of this blade could. This weapon was forged differently than my previous weapons. I enriched it with my knowledge of the Sword Dao.

I ended with a large, thick, smooth blade made of Void Iron. It was almost 7 feet long, a truly ma.s.sive two-handed sword. It features a large guard with side rings plus integral parrying hooks that allow the blade to be shortened for close range slas.h.i.+ng and stabbing attacks.

The handle is made of Soulwood and covered with Savage Beast leather and is extra long to afford a full two-handed grip. What"s more, it"s capped by a heavy Void Iron pommel that helps counterbalance its long blade and serves as an effective weapon in its own right.

This large two-handed sword was Fate, a weapon destined to spell Ill fate for its new wielder.

I reveled over the mastery of this craftsmans.h.i.+p. At the first chance, I would send this weapon down to a lower world. Although this weapon couldn"t take over a lower world it could cause a lot of trouble.

Maybe the next generations, One Sword, of some stupid human realm will pick up this weapon and wield it in the name of freedom and justice. This weapon was cursed differently than my previous weapons. It was a weapon that aligned with d.a.m.nation. It didn"t force a soul to yield to me immediately. It made them tread a path of d.a.m.nation by picking it up.

No, this weapon was much more sinister. It would send whispers to its user, subjectively changing their point of view. I put many of my insights into Tyranny, Pride, Deceit, Anger, Desire for Power, Ambition, and Dominance into this weapon. It was a Kingmaker, those who picked up this blade would seek solace in becoming a ruler.

If they picked it up as a mortal slowly but surely they would become corrupted by its influence. This was possibly the evilest weapon I had ever created. For it could corrupt mortals and cultivators for generations. Leading many souls astray in its wake. Kingdoms would rise and fall to this weapon"s beck and call.

One day Fate would make it"s own name for itself, in whatever realm I threw it down in. I couldn"t wait to see the results. I have to find the coordinates to a lower world with much haste!

"Dex, how long did I spend forging?" I asked.

I had completely immersed myself into forging Fate, time had no meaning to me when I made this beautiful weapon.
