"Babe, you don"t have to do it if you don"t want to," he said."But I totally want to. What are we waiting for? unless you are having second thoughts about it," she asked with one eyebrow raised
"You know that"s not what I meant. I just want to make sure you"re comfortable with it," he replied nervously.
"I wanna do it, and we are gonna be doing it together. What better feeling is there?" Her smile was brighter than the sun.
Bungee jump instructor: Are you guys ready?
Couple: We are.
The couple looked deep into each other"s eyes before jumping off the board together.
Why were they bungee jumping? Let"s find out.
Flashback to the family meetup...
Right after the oldies had squeezed the gossip they wanted out of the couple, they congregated together once more.
"The wedding will be a week from now," granny Davis announced suddenly.
Only the oldies seemed less shocked by this announcement.
"Granny D, isn"t that a bit too fast?" Claudia asked with a little distress in her voice.
"Yeah granny D. They should take time to prepare and enjoy the process," Flora supported.
Both of them had gone through the "rush" marriage for their own reasons, and they didn"t want to see their youngest go through it too.
"Who said it"s a bit too fast? This wedding had been planned for a long time now," granny Jacob said. Followed by "Ouch! What was that for?" She furrowed her brows at granny Davis.
Ignoring their wordless communication, Summer asked, "what do you mean by "planned for a long time" now?"
Granny Jacob coughed awkwardly before replying, "I"ve had your wedding planned out since you announced your relationship with Quincy, baby. Since you trust grangran with the man, trust grangran with the wedding."
The Davis and Jacob couples nodded in agreement.
"All you have to do is sit back and relax," Laura said.
"We"ve got all these covered," Candace supported.
"I"d still like to be very much involved with my own wedding... because it"s my wedding," she said, reminding them not to leave her out of their plans.
"Of course you"ll be included. We are not that unreasonable," granny Davis said.
The men didn"t seem to have any opinions.
"Babe, let"s talk about it when we get home. It"s gonna be a waste of time convincing them," Quincy whispered in her ear.
"Okay hon."
The dinner carried on as they all talked about the upcoming wedding. The couple was left helpless.
Back to the apartment, the couple lay in bed facing each other.
"What do you think?" Seraphina asked.
"Honestly babe, as long as you"re happy, I"m okay with any arrangement you make. All I need is you by my side," he replied as he stroked her cheek.
"I"m a little conflicted also. Aren"t we already living like a married couple? The event would just be to confirm our ident.i.ty, but I also feel like it"s all coming faster than I can handle," she explained.
"There"s something not right with our grannies. Also, the old men approved without second thought. I feel like they"ve discussed about this for a while now."
"That"s what I was thinking. They are all so suspicious," she agreed as they both a.n.a.lyzed the whole situation.
"I"ll be meeting with the ladies tomorrow. I"ll hear them out. If it"s satisfying, let"s get married in a week," she said firmly.
"I"m sorry they put you in a tight spot," he said meekly.
"I love you and I"m also willing to spend the rest of my life with you. There"s no tough spot honey," she said, placing a peck on the tip of his nose.
"I love you too," he mumbled as he held her back against the bed and ate her clean in many different ways.
The next day...
"Your wedding dress is ready. You get to pick out the shoes and jewelry to go with. The bridesmaids dresses are ready too. Beatrice"s is still in works." Candace read out the list in Alice"s hand.
"We have the catering service down, you just need to confirm the menu with Quincy. You also need to plan your honeymoon. The reception hall has been booked too. We"ll be going over the decorations after you approve the dress." Laura also read out from the list in Janet"s hand.
"I"m gonna be the ring bearer. It"s a bit unconventional, but I really want to. Plus my dress is ready too," Queen said with pleading eyes. How could I turn her down?
"Okay dear. Let"s see the dresses first," I said to her.
Alice signaled the lady next to her probably to go retrieve the dresses. About 5minutes later, 6 mannequins were pushed in.
One had on a breathtakingly beautiful wedding dress, followed by an evening gown. The other 4 mannequins had on 2 bridesmaids dresses and evening gowns.
Before I could catch my breath, two more dresses were brought in, and guessing from the sizes, they had to be Queen"s. She was as excited as I was with her eyes shining brightly at the dresses.
I wasn"t really a sucker for white wedding dresses, but the one right in front of my eyes was unbelievably stunning.
The dress carried an air of elegance. It was a white off-the-shoulder ball gown with a sweep train. The back was laced-up, and the sweetheart neckline curved perfectly around the bust. The top was made with lace while the ball of the gown was made with satin. The whole dress was beaded, and it looked glamorous and dramatic. It was simple yet luxurious.
The bridesmaids dresses followed a similar pattern except the silhouette was line. Queen"s dress was a halter neck mermaid dress, hugging the curves of the mannequin in the right places.
The evening gown that accompanied the wedding dress was tempting red which matched my ring. Apparently it was a total coincidence. The satin top was deep red and sleeveless. It blended perfectly into the red silk organza that formed the ball of the gown. The back was also laced-up, but the dress wasn"t embellished. It was plain and beautiful. Flora and Claudia"s evening dresses were structured after their wedding gowns.
Everything was planned out perfectly, and I couldn"t be more thankful for the family I had, and the family I was gonna be a part of a week from now. A message from Quincy snapped me back to reality.
"Babe, everything is good in this side. You wanna do it?"
"Same here baby. Let"s go for it." I replied excitedly. I could already picture myself in those dresses. How could I say no?
"Love you," he replied.
"Love you too."
The week pa.s.sed by faster than I thought. It was D-day, and I had the marriage fever. The event was intimate. The Jacob"s, Jenkins", James", Davis", Walters", and Fulton"s families were present. Frank and Justin were Quincy"s groomsmen while Jazz took the position of best man. Claudia and Flora were my bridesmaids while Beatrice was my maid-of-honor. Who would have thought we"d have such a day?
Quincy and I got married at our family church, and the look in his eyes when he saw me proved that I was doing the right thing getting married to him. On the eve of the wedding, he suprised me with a crown decorated with ruby stones, which I fixed with my veil. He cried, and I cried, and the whole room cried. At that moment, "I do" sounded like the most beautiful words anyone had ever uttered. It was truly a magical moment.
The afterparty was where everyone went crazy.
"Since the bottle points at you guys, you"ll have to go bungee jumping on your honeymoon," Frank challenged.
Back to the present...
"Let"s never play spin the bottle again," I said to Quincy as we were tied together, dangling from a rope above the water.
