Right after the signing of the contract, Zhiyong excused himself first, saying that he has an important meeting to attend to. Yet before leaving, he took a glance at Cheng Jia"s seat which was vacated since she went to the washroom. He felt that there is something mysterious in the woman.
On his way out, he heard laughter. It made him slowed his pace as he closes his eyes with a fist balled inside his pocket.
"That melodious laugh... Xinyi..."
He opened his eyes and walked towards the sound he heard, slowly. The sound stopped for a moment then another laugh was heard. This sound made Zhiyong"s heart skipped.
He stopped in his tracks when he saw the owner of the laughter he heard. His eyes narrowed as he grabbed the woman"s elbow, making her gasped for air in surprise.
"Ms. Cheng, who really, are you?" he asked in a husky voice after pinning the woman"s back on the wall.
Cheng Jia just blinked as if not understanding the man"s question, especially when he leaned in closer to her.
As she gazed upon his eyes, Zhiyong was surprised to see her amber eyes. With lips quivering, he was drawn to her.
"Your eyes... has it always been this..." he seems lost of words as he can"t say the word beautiful straight in her face.
On the other hand, Cheng Jia noticed how close her body was to Zhiyong that she can smell his intoxicating musky scent. His minty breath brushed her skin and it made her heart thumped as her mind momentarily went gaga.
"He smells so good," she thought, blushing.
"Why do you have to have a copper brown eyes?" he asked not noticing her tinted cheek.
Furrowing her brows, Cheng Jia answered as she regained her wits.
"President w.a.n.g," she paused as the man closed his eyes. Although confused with his action, she continued, "I"m born this way. Why do you ask?"
Again there was a moment of silence.
"President, can you please let go?" Cheng Jia asked looking at the elbow which was held by Zhiyong.
The latter who has just opened his eyes retracted composing himself.
"Why do they have to be so similar? Even her voice and her eyes are the same that I can almost see myself in front of her. Could she be..."
Zhiyong was in deep thought.
This did not escape from Cheng Jia"s eyes. "What could he possibly be thinking?"
The man once again looked at Cheng Jia like she was a specimen in a microscope, "This can"t be."
The woman instinctively held her chest.
"Aish! Perverted psycho!" she screamed inwardly.
Zhiyong snapped, "Don"t get your imagination run wild. I"m just thinking. You seriously need to stop reading romance novels or else your mind will be poisoned with wild ideas."
He then turned his back to leave but stopped and turned to Cheng Jia waving his finger like warning her, "And don"t bat your lashes to anyone who stares at your eyes! You don"t know how creepy it is! Do you understand?"
Cheng Jia pout, "What does that have to do with you? Others said I have the most striking, beautiful eyes, though," she replied holding her chin up.
"Just don"t! And don"t believe anyone who said it"s beautiful."
"Why are you so weird? Sorry if I say this president, but whether I believe others or not is up to me."
Zhiyong heaved for air feeling defeated, "Then, just at least don"t bat your beautiful eyes to anyone. It"s dangerous."
He didn"t wait for Cheng Jia"s reb.u.t.tal as he turned his back and made his leave. As he disappeared, Cheng whispered to herself, "What was that about? What a weird fellow."
Night has come. In Royal Heights, there is a certain someone who cannot go to sleep.

"Xinyi, why does she look so much like you? Not only that, she even has a child, who is our child"s age if what I suspected before was correct. Also, her eyes are as striking as yours..." he said caressing the face of the woman on the picture, "Even her laughter was melodious as yours. Wife, have you gone to heaven? Why is your ghost hunting me then?"
He downed Lin Xinyi"s picture to his bedside and looked at it like it"s a precious gem.
"If she was you, then why didn"t she recognize me? If she was you, who was the person I"ve cried for in the coffin?"
There are so many questions in his mind that made him dizzy. "Something is amiss," he quietly concluded.
"G.o.d, I am truly confused. It feels like I was looking at my wife when I see her. Please give me a sign that will tell me whether I should stop bothering myself with the similarities that they have or not. Just one sign, an obvious sign to make me stop or go."
