The two had salad for lunch. It was a quiet lunch this time around. They just enjoyed each other"s company without worries. A phone call broke the silence. It was Justin"s.His face turned serious the second he saw the caller.
"Bolton here"
"Yes sir!"
He turned to Claudia and said apologetically, "I need to go back to the base. Something came up. I don"t know when I"m going to be back, but I"ll call you."
She felt a bit reluctant to let him go, but she had to.
"Take care of yourself. I"ll be waiting."
He flashed her a smile before turning to leave. Her mood instantly plummeted, and she lost interest in her meal. She stood up not quite long after Justin left and made her way back to the salon.
"You finally showed up," a sarcastic voice drifted into her ears as she opened the door.
She looked forward to see Seraphina sitting with her legs crossed and a displeased smile on her face.
"I totally forgot about it. I"m sorry."
She had told her to come over for a trim, but she left with Justin instead. Ultimate betrayal!
"What"s up? Your mood looks bad," Seraphina said as she noticed the usually cheery Claudia looking dispirited. It was especially odd since she just had lunch with her crush.
"Justin had something urgent come up at his base and left in between lunch."
Claudia wore the covers around her girlfriend, then grabbed the scissors.
Seraphina: did you confess?
Claudia: confess what?
Seraphina: to Justin?
Claudia: about?
Seraphina: your 4-year crush
Her hand shook a bit when Seraphina said that. She had realized her affection for Justin when he left 4 years ago. After talking for a while, she confirmed her feelings for him. She had yet to think about confessing because she was still waiting on Justin to reach the same step as she.
Claudia: I don"t know what you"re talking about
Seraphina: *scoff* You dumped us to catch up with him, you rejected every guy because you were waiting for his return, you gave our grannies the silent treatment for the embarra.s.sing videocall.... and you don"t know?
Faced with the talkative Summer, Claudia did something to shut her up. She grabbed the scissors firmly and cut her front hair that was tied in a ponytail short, followed by the other sections she had tied up too.
Upon seeing the crazy Claudia, Seraphina remained calm.
"Are you done mowing?"
Claudia instantly froze as she admired her artwork with guilt.
"You shouldn"t talk too much. You distracted me." She used that as an excuse while laughing crazily in her mind.
"Are you going to make it better?"
"Only after you promise not to talk about Justin."
"Promise!"
All through the rest of the haircut, Summer didn"t say a word. Claudia turned her into a short-haired beauty. Satisfied with her new style, she stood up and stared fiercely at Claudia.
Claudia had long shook of the guilt since she already made it up with a fantastic haircut.
"Why are you looking at me that way?" She had a bad feeling about this.
"Where"s your purse?" She asked as she spotted Claudia"s purse on the counter.
"Why are you asking?" Claudia watched as Summer grabbed her purse and dug through it.
She saw Summer take out her precious credit card with a wicked smile on her face.
"I"m getting myself a new bag for the emotional damage you caused me."
Before Ckaudia could say anything, she made her way out of the salon.
"I"m doomed!"
That was the only thing she could utter because there was no stopping Summer.
