Dragon Breaks The Void

Chapter 12: Mysterious Ancient Book

Chapter 12: Mysterious Ancient Book

Van walked towards the Ancient Book that seemed to have been left untouched for many decades.

He picked it up and wiped off the dust. Then, he opened the book and started to read through the description.

"Dragon Breaks the Void is a martial technique that cannot be learned by just anyone. They must have a strong affinity towards the Void element paired with a firm and steady Martial heart. This Martial Technique allows one to rip a hole into the Void and travel to your heart"s content with only the strength being the limit."

Van noticed a note saying that there were 3 more volumes that have been lost with only this one having been discovered in an abandoned ruin. With only one volume and its strict requirements, the Elders of the sect decided to allow this Martial Technique to be available to even the menial labor servants.

"I"ll be taking this."

THIS ITEM WILL NOT COUNT TOWARDS YOUR BORROWING LIMIT, YOU MAY PICK ANOTHER ITEM.

"Sweet! I"ll take the Life Rending Blast!"

ITEM REGISTERED AS BORROWED. HERE IS THE FULL MARTIAL TECHNIQUE.

A golden orb of light descended into Van"s cupped hands and became a leather-bound book with its cover depicting souls rising up to the heavens, giving it an eerie feeling.

Van stared at the book excitedly. With the power to destroy one"s opponent"s soul, who wouldn"t want to learn such a skill? He quickly put it into his sack and bowed towards the Librarian"s desk.

"Thank you Senior for your help."

"Hey! Brat! Over here! I was the one who got you here. I OWN this place!"

The orb started to roll around as Yu Lin let out his fury. Van smiled wryly and sighed.

"Thanks, Senior Yu Lin."

"Oh, you didn"t have to."

The orb stopped moving and Yu Lin seemed to be enjoying the grat.i.tude. Van continued with his flattery as Yu Lin continued to be "humble", by denying all the flattering statements from Van"s mouth.

After a few minutes of this tomfoolery, Van finally had enough and decided to shove the orb into his sack.

"Wait! You forgot to tell me how brave I was for defending my sec…"

"Finally, he was starting to annoy me."

Van walked towards the Library doors and pushed on it. Immediately, his soul was transported back inside his body and he took a few minutes to become re-accustomed to his body.

"Time to learn these new Martial Techniques!"

Van was practically jumping up and down with joy as he ran through the hidden pathway to Sanji"s abode.

He found a clearing with a small waterfall and lake before he sat down and started to read.

"The first one to learn will be the Dragon Breaks the Void Martial Technique!"

He started to read through the first section. After about an hour of contemplation, Van stood up, ready for his first try.

"So the first move of this technique is the Void Fist."

The Void Fist required one to manipulate s.p.a.ce causing one to be able to hit with a lot more force than normally.

Van took a few deep breaths before getting into a balanced stance.

Hmph!

Van let out an abrupt breath full of tension, before punching out with his right fist. As was expected, nothing happened to the fabric of s.p.a.ce resulting in a miserable failure. Van grit his teeth in frustration and got back into his stance.

After many tries, he felt a slight ripple in the fabric of s.p.a.ce, indicating that he had finally reached the entry level of the Void Fist.

Mastery of Martial Skills, which are within Martial Techniques, are separated into 6 Levels: Entry, Low Success, Medium Success, High Success, Perfection, and the Realm of Improvement, where the Martial Artist improves upon the Martial Skill allowing one to break the limits of the skill"s potential.

Van continued to practice for a few hours before heading down to the dining room for quick snack.

He found the two women, still speaking as if they were friends that hadn"t met in years, sitting in the living room in front of a fireplace.

He was glad that they were finally getting along, but was secretly disappointed of losing their attention.

After he finished munching on his snack, he wrote a quick note to his aunt to not disturb his cultivation and quickly snuck back into his room.

He continued to practice for another hour before he stopped.

"It would probably be better if I practiced with live opponents."

He had reached the peak of the Entry level in Mastery for the Void Fist and had reached a bottleneck.

"I"ll go find Sanji to see if there are any unruly beasts that I need to take care of."

Van dashed off and spread out his Qi sense, spanning a total of 15 kilometers.

After a few minutes of searching, he found Sanji having a not so friendly dispute with the previous king of the area who also happened to be at the 4th Rank.

Supporters of both sides stood across from each other waiting for one side to make a move.

Van calmly flew to the middle and started to walk up to the 4th Rank Beast.

The previous king of the forest was a big black bear and wasn"t happy to find out that within a day another beast at the 4th Rank had turned half of the forest against him.

The Bear started to growl at Van, when Van unleashed a Void Fist on its snout. After a flurry of Void Fists impacted on the Black Bear, it was on the ground pleading for mercy.

The Bear"s supporters shrank away and submitted to Sanji.

After Van obtained the Bear"s vow of submission, he started to shout.

"Ok, guys! Party"s over, move along!"

The Beasts stared at him for a moment before returning to their previous duties.

Sanji was beaming with pride as he walked up to Van, squeaking of his achievements.

"Well, now you have an entire forest to watch over. You better take care of it."

Sanji ignored Van"s words and decided to go order around some of his new subjects.

Van sighed and started to remember something before darting away, back to the clearing.
