Chapter 21: Winning Respect and AweYu Chao started to cry miserably as he curled up on the ground. Van had been testing techniques on him for the past hour non-stop. With Yu Chao"s body and Van"s careful control, Yu Chao didn"t need to worry about lasting injuries, but the constant pain had injured Yu Chao mentally.
Ye Shui seemed to have finally healed from his mental r.e.t.a.r.dation and was currently cheering every hit that landed on Yu Chao"s body. The surrounding audience was dumbstruck. They never would have guessed that some unknown youth, not even from the Middle Continent. Would beat one of the 3 geniuses into such a state.
Fairy Cloud Feather looked with disgust and pity as Yu Chao was beaten black and blue. Disgust from the tears currently staining Yu Chao"s face, and pity for the pitiful situation he was currently in. A hint of fear appeared in her expression as she realized that she was going to be next. She subconsciously took a step back and started to sweat more profusely.
After a couple of minutes, Van felt pity for the guy and threw Yu Chao out of the arena. He was transported by the management formation and quickly restored back to optimal condition.
"You realize you could"ve given up anytime right? The formation would"ve just teleported you out."
Yu Chao, being the muscle head that he was, stood there dumbfounded as he slowly took in the information. Tears started leaking out of his eyes as he realized the catastrophe that he could"ve avoided.
Van turned towards Fairy Cloud Feather and started to speak.
"It"s your turn now."
Fairy Cloud Feather stood there the absolute embodiment of calmness and parted her lips to speak.
"Seeing that you have bested Yu Chao so easily, I would say that I"m not your match. Besides, the Presidential Suite is worth getting so worked up."
Van nodded, finding Fairy Cloud Feather"s reasoning quite logical. When Van turned towards Ye Shui, Fairy Cloud Feather let out the breath she was holding, in relief. She had just avoided a small catastrophe. With Van"s brutality, she would most likely be unable to keep her t.i.tle as a fairy.
Ye Shui"s was currently jumping with joy. He had just watched his childhood bully get beat up right in front of him. He joyfully surrendered and jumped to Van"s side, trying to win his favor. Van was slightly surprised, but then again, he did get revenge for Ye Shui.
After a few minutes of conversation, Van decided to accept Ye Shui as a friend. Ye Shui gave Van his personal command medallion and they parted ways.
Fairy Cloud Feather proudly marched away with her crowd of adoring fans.
After half an hour of drooling, Yu Chao wiped his mouth and walked off to the infirmary.
Seeing the others depart, Van decided to head back to his room. He was greeted by a very plump Sanji. While Van was busy fighting, Sanji had used the complimentary room service and had stuffed himself on rich spiritual meats and spiritual fruits.
"Did you leave anything for me?"
Van"s stomach started to growl. Sanji had an apologetic expression. He wasn"t one to waste food. Van sighed and ordered food. He went into the cultivation chamber and practiced the Void Fist while he was waiting. Half an hour later, there was a knock on the door.
Van opened it to find a young maid. She became fl.u.s.tered and respectfully handed the tray to Van, before walking away. Van was confused, but he placed the tray on a desk and started to chow down. After eating many high-quality spirit foods, he was starting to get used to it and didn"t go into ecstasy every time he took a bite.
Sanji used to take delight in watching the strange expressions that appeared on Van"s face as he ate. He would take delight it laughing at Van"s expense. Of course, Van wouldn"t notice so Sanji could laugh all he wanted while Van was in a subconscious state.
2 months later, the spirit shuttle ground to a halt and a mental transmission was sent to all onboard.
"We have arrived at the Middle Continent"s Flowing River Sect."
The aspiring cultivators on board packed up their items and got off the ship. They were met with a middle aged man in a clean white silk road. He stood there complacently watching the 50 cultivators crowd in front of him. He had a lazy air about him and stared at the group with little expectation.
"Alright, you have been allowed to attempt to join our Flowing River Sect. Back in the lower reaches, you were the cream of the crop. Here in the Middle Continent, your talent would be in the lower average."
Some of the cultivators had a defiant air about them in response. The others were more realistic and stayed expressionless, but were still confident in their chances.
The bored cultivator was an outer sect elder of the Flowing River Sect. He was made in charge of the next batch of potential recruits as punishment for stealing a Spirit Chicken from another elder. He was a rather laid back elder which meant that punishments on his river weren"t strict. At the same time, that meant that he didn"t do too much for his disciples and apprentices.
"Alright then. Let"s get going."
The Flowing River Sect"s Outer Sect Elder escorted the 50 cultivators away from the landing pad to a gateway guarded by a large scale formation. The Outer Sect Elder pulled out his command medallion, causing the ma.s.sive gate to open. Van and the others looked on with awe as they saw the majestic sight ahead of them.
There were four rivers that flowed into a large pool. If one looked carefully at the water, they would notice that it was slightly blue. This certain water was rich in Qi and was fatally dangerous to anyone below the Stages of Inner Discovery. Of course, it was only dangerous if one submerged in it.
