At least that was what she wanted to believe. In one of the hotel"s s.p.a.cious rooms, Rikka continued to kiss Haruka, but he pulled away from her the moment her hands made its way towards his robes.
"Listen, I don"t think--"
Rikka traced his lips with her hands. "Why shouldn"t we?" She said suggestively.
Haruka sighed. "Well, other than the fact that I have a wife, anybody can tell that you"re very drunk right now. Despite your so-called attempts to seduce me in the past, I know you won"t take this further since you have your morals and all."
"I won"t regret anything." Rikka clung to his arm, pressing her b.r.e.a.s.t.s against him. "I"m doing this deliberately, is it getting you worked up?"
"Rikka, seriously," Haruka mumbled. "I want us to continue being friends. But if you keep doing this, I don"t know what I will do."
"That sounds very dangerous. What will you do to me?" Rikka said in a teasing tone.
Haruka suddenly pushed her down and hovered over her.
"You know, sometimes I wish we met differently. Sometimes I wish that we met in school or something as uppercla.s.sman and lowercla.s.sman. We would become friends, spend a lot of time together, and realize our feelings. If everything succeeded, we would build a great relations.h.i.+p together. I never wanted it to be like this."
Rikkas gaze dimmed when she heard those words from him. It should make her happy knowing that Haruka even thought of such a thing. But she can"t be happy.
"If you thought that way, maybe we were never meant to be."
.......
Following morning
Rikka does not know what happened after that. She recalls kissing him again before she felt a sharp pain in her neck. Haruka injected her with something before knocking her out. When she woke up this morning, she quickly understood what it was. The final antidote to the drugs her cousin made her take.
She no longer has that headache, and she feels a lot better now. On her way to the foyer, she spotted not only Haruka but Teras.h.i.+ma Lila too. It seemed like the two were amid a de
"But I want a proper kiss!"
"Hey, my wife, you know you already got one.."
"I want another!"
"Really, what are you trying to do.." Haruka cupped Lila"s cheeks. "So, even though you asked, why are you blus.h.i.+ng?"
"Err, um ermm."
"Geez, I guess it can"t be helped." Haruka lowered his face and kissed the girl.
Rikka stood there completely frozen. It wasn"t a light kiss but a pa.s.sionate one. From this distance, she couldn"t miss how their tongues enter winded against each others.
"Uhh, nngh.. Wait a minute." Lila mumbled. "Go check us out."
Haruka sighed. "Mmm, but it was getting good?"
"Dummy, we need to head back."
"Then let"s continue at home." Haruka squeezed her hands. "There are seats over there, sit down and wait for me."
Rikka proceeded to turn away when she saw Lila head her way. But it was already far too late. "Ah."
"..."
"Are you feeling better now?"
"Yes...that antidote.."
"I used my blood." Lila nodded. "I figured it was the best way. Since Zane used his blood as the main toxin for the drug, I thought I could use mine as an antidote. I"m glad it worked."
So all her actions were it merely due to drugs? It didn"t feel that way to her, and something is wrong here. But, it"s true that her mind is a lot clearer now.
"Last night, I…"
Lila shook her head. "Don"t apologize. You don"t regret it do you?"
That"s right; she doesn"t regret kissing Haruka. Why would she? He is the man she loves. She doesn"t regret it, and yet whenever she looks at Teras.h.i.+ma Lila, she feels terrible.
Rikka does not understand it very well. Why does she have to feel bad for her? She did nothing wrong. That"s right; she did nothing wrong. In the end, it"s not like anything happened with her and Haruka. But didn"t it? Quite some time has pa.s.sed since then, and yet Rikka has not forgotten it even once, the sensation of Haruka touching her.
Her gaze fell on Teras.h.i.+ma Lila. The girl is pretty yes, but many girls are prettier. It does not make sense why Haruka chose her out of all the other girls around. No, it makes sense. Haruka does not care for prettier or smarter girls, he just wants a girl who understands him, somebody who could love everything about him.
If only she didn"t misunderstand, then maybe even now Haruka would be with her. If they remained together, would they have gotten married eventually? Rikka did not understand these complicated matters. Back then, it was enough for her just to have a boyfriend.
But was it? It wasn"t. All those negative things she said to Haruka were because she was dissatisfied with her relations.h.i.+p with Haruka without realizing it, she wanted something more from him.
Haruka eventually returned, and he immediately picked Lila up.
Lila laughed. "Uhh, why are you carrying me?"
"Don"t your legs hurt?"
"That"s your fault, dummy."
Haruka kissed Lilas"s forehead. "Mm, which is why I am making it up to you by cooking you lunch."
"Wait," Rikka said. "You can ride with me."

XX Apartment - New York -
It was a desperate effort, but she wanted to spend a little more time with Haruka. Who would have thought that it would start raining heavily out of nowhere? The roads back to their place were blocked, thus leading to this situation with them staying over. Rikka looked at the clothes in her closet and sighed. Why did she ask the maids to send random stuff over?
She should have asked for something specific. But then again, her arrival in New York was abrupt. At first, she stayed in the hotel, but it made her feel uncomfortable. Having a place of your own is better, after all.
After debating about it for a few extra minutes, Rikka finally decided on what to wear and exited the room.
She found the two in the living room. Lila looked like she was on the phone and arguing with somebody. "Don"t you dare--- hey?!! Soichiro?!!"
"Lila," Haruka called out. "Don"t stress yourself out."
"Can you believe the nerve of him, he hung up on me."
"It"s fine, you pa.s.sed on the message, right?"
"I did." Lila sighed. "Honestly, he is so troublesome at times. But during this situation, the one who is working hard the most is without a doubt, Soichiro."
"He did a lot for you since we parted ways as children. I should thank him."
Lila shook her head. "There is no need for you to do something like that. He chose to protect me of his own accord; even if you thanked him, he wouldn"t accept your praise."
Rikka watched as Haruka pulled Lila onto his lap. "Are you sure you"re okay, my wife?"
Lilas"s gaze softened. "Well, I can"t say I will be able to sleep properly, knowing that we are staying at your mistress home. But, mmm, Im okay. You see, I knew from the start that Rikksan was a good person, despite the harsh words I said last time. A person who loves you can"t be bad."
At that comment, Rikka froze. How come Teras.h.i.+ma Lila can still say such things about her? Why is this person so positive? Rikka heard how Teras.h.i.+ma Lila"s emotions are unstable ever since she appeared to the point it is making her sick.
My presence is causing problems in their relations.h.i.+p.
So why? Why can this girl.?
