Starlight Dome - Haruka"s room -Lila really couldn"t believe that he even answered.
His depends on that name, how could you tell her so quickly? And furthermore, right now why aren"t you asking her why she"s asking? Shouldn"t you be more suspicious of her? What on earth is he doing? The two of them are still enemies. Even though Soichiro made that deal with Haruka"s boss. Lila understood that the time limit was approaching. Maybe when they return to j.a.pan, time will run out? Lila didn"t tell Haruka this, but this was the reason why she was so reluctant to return to j.a.pan.
Lila didn"t want to part ways with him since she knew what would happen if they were to part. That"s why all she can do is take him with her. Lila knew she had to solve things with Kiryu properly and that returning by herself would be better. But if she were to leave Haruka"s side even for a moment, their enemies would surely take advantage of it.
Individuals have always detested evil and sought out what they see as a "righteous." But somebody could easily argue, what is righteous? Can a person define something with endless meanings and possibilities?
Her thoughts broke off when he placed his hand on her face, " Don"t cry, I already know why you asked me. But I have no intention of blaming you either."
At Haruka"s words, Lila felt her tears fall rapidly. "You"re an idiot… why do you trust me so much?"
He should detest her.
For caving into the rules of those people, even though she was the one who stressed the idea of freedom in the first place.
"Why? You already know the answer, do you wish for me to say it?
"N—no, it isn"t needed."
"Is that so? It"s a shame," Haruka murmured, despite the darkness of the room. There was still a bright light source coming from the moonlight skies through the window. She could make out the smirk on his face and averted her gaze; it is because of Soichiro that she ended up coming here. Though it"s true she wasn"t feeling well; it was something she could have kept to herself.
Haruka reached over for a single cup and Lila immediately almost on instinct pulled out some sake from the corner and poured for him, "It"s almost like we"re newlyweds," he said with a slight smirk on his face.
"Don"t even make jokes about that. Soichiro will kill you when he finds out you distracted me from my job," Lila said. Her job tonight was to blend in with the crowd and get information. But Haruka took her away before she could gather any information.
A mere chuckle escaped the red head"s lips, "I see that is scary. But I don"t have to worry, for sure the Princess will protect me."
"What makes you so sure?"
"Because the red strings of fate connect the two of us."
At that comment, Lila felt her already fl.u.s.tered cheeks, turn even more red which caused Haruka to chuckle even more.
"W---what did Ritsuko tell you?"
Ritsuko definitely said something, otherwise, why would he be acting so strange.
Lila suddenly felt him take a strand of her hair and lifted it to his lips, "Indeed, I truly am glad I"m precious to you."
Her eyes widened when she realized what he meant. Ah geez, Ritsuko! But she supposed the lilac hair girl couldn"t help it. Despite how stone-faced her friend is, she probably made the connection. The fact that she loves Haruka this much.
"That"s not all she told me. A fight, a major one will break out soon. It may be good timing that your powers are like this. Sure it"s weakening you, but it"s a sign of your powers growing."
Lila sighed at that news. War was futile, it always was, but she had no choice but to be swept in its course, and now she was struggling. No matter how she saw it, those close to her heart end up involved in this conflict, and she had no choice but to get caught up in the flow.
"Promise me one thing," Haruka continued, breaking the silence between them. "Promise me you will do nothing foolish no matter what happens. I don"t want you to get further involved in this b.l.o.o.d.y war; you should live a life of freedom. You shouldn"t be trapped and restricted in this manner."
Trapped? No, she was not trapped; she chose her current situation.
"I…" she could not get any more words out. Haruka had seen right through her. "Haruka, please… let me see them again, at least once before…"
"I refuse to and cannot do so," he told her, as he brought her into his arms preventing her from escaping.
Lila felt her heart beat rapidly, anybody who heard it would have thought that something was wrong.
"Our enemies already know that we are dating, the knowledge isn"t exactly a secret. But if they knew I proposed to you, then they"d be more cautious. However, those people who benefit from your engagement with Austin Kiryu will have my head, and all my efforts to protect you would be for nothing. On the other hand, now that I have you in my arms. Now that I know how much you love me, I won"t let you go. I don"t want you to get dragged into this, but I know with the nature of your powers you"ll continue getting involved."
Lila said nothing and buried her face in his arms as the tears fell from her eyes. She felt Haruka his hold over her. "Why?" she questioned.
"Because you belong to me," Haruka said as though it was the most obvious thing. "You came here for your mission, for your dream. But at the same time, you are here for me, here for me to protect to love…"
She could not understand… how could he be so warm, how could he offer her so much comfort during times like this? This person… contradicts himself way too often. It isn"t fair; he made it difficult for her. Difficult for her to say no, to push him away and refuse.
