Just as Lila thought that Haruka suddenly spoke up, "So, you do like it, huh?" his tone was neither teasing nor indifferent. There was something serious about it, something strange, something different.Lila nodded, and Haruka smiled, "I see, yeah. That"s good," he removed the scarf of himself and wrapped all of it around her, "It"s getting colder, you keep it."
"But it"s warmer when the two of us are together," Lila thought. But she held back those words. Lila wondered why even now they are so close to each other and yet she has to hold back what she is thinking.
Back then, in London, he told her that soon, something important will happen. Lila supposed even without memories, a person never truly lose the things you care about the most. .. Oh. . Come to think of it, back then. . . She was the only one he remembered although he forgot everyone else. Perhaps it was already becoming obvious then, what the outcome of their meeting would be.
"I"ve always loved going stargazing since I was younger," Haruka said, and she looked at him with wide eyes. He lightly hits her head, "Don"t be too surprised; I can like normal things."
"But it"s you Haruka."
"Hey now, what sort of impression do you have of me."
What sort, "That type," Lila said vaguely.
"You really do like messing with me, huh?" Haruka sighed, "Well, maybe your right. It is unlike me, but yeah I like star gazing. Even though the world we live in is anything but peaceful, even though I"ve seen the corrupt side of the world - of humanity. I still have hope for this world."
Lila said nothing, but she continued staring at him, "Hope, huh?" Lila repeated in her head. Mother is the same too, despite everything"s that"s happened. Despite experiencing the death of loved ones due to the cruelness of humans. In the end, she still loves this world, in the end, just like Haruka, Mother sees the world as beautiful. Lila wondered what she thought about it. Like Haruka and her Mother, can she be so forgiving? If she lost somebody important to her due to the hands of humanity, can she forgive them?
"En I can"t deny that. But traveling to s.p.a.ce is difficult, isn"t it? "
"Not if you have the right equipment, huh, thinking about it. We can just use Nakura."
"Silly, we can"t bother people all the time," she trailed off when she saw Haruka"s softened gaze as he stared into her eyes. Or rather for a while now he hasn"t been looking at the sky but at her. Lila looked away, and it was then Haruka pulled her into his arms.
"I love you so much, Lila."
Thump, thump. Lila felt her heart skip a beat at his words. He"s treating her so kindly, even saying he loves her and they are having a regular date. Lila would have touched her forehead to see if she was still feverish, but Haruka"s hold on her tightened, "I think I"m hallucinating today," Lila concluded.
Haruka laughed, "Really?"
"I must be, I felt terrible earlier. So right now I must be hallucinating."
"Mmm, better wake up soon," Haruka murmured huskily in her ear, "Otherwise I"d swallow you up."
"Ah, I"m not hallucinating now. This is reality, Haruka is a pervert, so things are normal."
Haruka deeply sighed, "You really do have a twisted impression of me, why is that?"
Lila rolled her eyes at that comment, why does he think? He"s a pervert! Well, she leaned into his hold, "I like cuddling, and it"s cold. So stay still."
"Yes, yes, Princess."
"Say, Haruka. When do you want to get married? After graduation? A day before?" Lila murmured.
"Your rus.h.i.+ng."
"I just don"t want you to change your mind, so I want to start the preparations for next year already."
Haruka paused but quickly answered, "I already started them," he gently kissed her forehead, "So, don"t worry."
"Ok-," Lila paused in mid-sentence. Wait what?!! He did what?!! Lila looked at the man who was holding her, with astonished eyes. Did she hear him correctly, did he just tell her that he"s already started the plans for their wedding?
Haruka smiled, "Why do you look so surprised? Can"t I have confidence that you would say yes?"
"Y--you, you idiot," Lila exclaimed, "Don"t give me that confidence speech. What were you planning to do if I said no?" Is this really the man who was trembling in her arms in the airport? Where did his boost of confidence come from? He must have been planning this long before they arrived here. But, exactly how long? Lila couldn"t think of a moment where Haruka gave it away. Maybe he didn"t slip up even once? Haruka is very good at acting after all.
"Did you get me a dress already?" she asked curiously.
"I have several I picked out, but you"re the bride. I want you to choose your own dress."
So he chose one, no some, he is confident. But isn"t this one of the things she loves about him? Lila leaned forward and wrapped her arms around his beck, she briefly buried her face on there and inhaled his scent. She wants his blood; she wants to see exactly what he is thinking. But for some reason, she felt incredibly shy, and her heart was beating loudly.
"What"s wrong? Your hungry," Haruka"s voice broke her thoughts, "Just drink."
He always makes it sound so simple, "just drink," one would usually have more reservations about getting their blood sucked out. However, Haruka isn"t like that at all. Haruka doesn"t mind, no matter what she does to him. He would accept it at all; he is a fool. Lila had no doubt now, that if one day they end up having to face each other as enemies - Haruka would lose on purpose. He would let her do whatever she wanted. If he betrayed her because he was ordered to do so and had no choice, and she sought him out to take revenge - he would allow her to hurt him.
Lila is relieved that Haruka hasn"t thought to give it to her yet. That item that acts as hanyou"s person lifespan, the stone, Lila gently licked his neck and drew back slightly, "You"re okay with it? I"m starving today," Lila drawled, "I"ll drink a lot from you."
Haruka laughed, "I don"t mind it, besides I"d prefer it if you drink."
"Don"t be lazy and just tell me what your thinking," she muttered. But for once Lila knew there was no need for him to tell her. She can see it in his face, today despite her confusion of the events. She knew exactly what he was thinking. This man wants her; he wants everything about her. He wants them to become one truly. As Hanyou"s that"s something that can only be truly achieved in marriage.
"But, you don"t need me too, at least not today. I"ve made myself clear haven"t I?"
Yes, yes, he has.
"Everything here is so beautiful; it"s perfect. I"m very happy, Haruka."
"Then you should make the situation more perfect," he pushed her down into the ground. Lila felt the coolness of the gra.s.s against her back and Haruka held her closely.
Oh! Lila smiles at the action. Since that time, he seems to like holding her close like this. His forehead seems hot. In the process, Lila caught wind of a familiar scent. Rosalia"s scent. It"s faint but there. They must have met each other again. That must be what happened when he returned to the bar; it wasn"t Aizawa Mei.
Haruka, she doesn"t understand what is exactly going on with Rosalia. Not knowing is making her so uneasy. However, she has a feeling that if she asks, then it would hurt him further. She doesn"t want to hurt him right now. Lila leaned forward and bit into his neck, his blood flowing into her veins.
"Haruka, Haruka," she repeated his name over and over in her head. It doesn"t matter. She won"t think about it. Rosalichan aside, she won"t let the matter with Aizawa Mei bother her anymore.
Won"t think about why Haruka is close to another woman, and why he lied to her. She won"t think about it. She will believe in the memory of that night, " I want to protect you," Lila wondered if Haruka knew? So so many people have said that to her. But Haruka is the only one who has been able to prove his words.
...
Haruka said he would make dinner extra special, and that she ought to patiently wait here. Lila sat in a small decking area not too far from the building they were supposed to be eating. Seeing a guitar just supposedly nearby, Lila picked it up and strummed a few chords. Initially, she intended to only a play melody, but she just naturally started to sing.
"The future that is so vast and filled with uncertainty.
Will you still be holding on to my hand?
Or would you have let go?
We are no longer children pa.s.sing our days with our selfish wishes of simply wanting to be together no matter what.
But, even if we are no longer children.
I want to be together with you."
From time to time, Lila would sing occasional verses from that song. The song she sang in the audition round of the Dream Stars Tournament, the song she wrote for Kiryu. But Lila would do so when Haruka isn"t around; she knew he wouldn"t like it if she sang it in front of him. It felt wrong to her, acting so sneaky about it when there is absolutely no need for her to do so. Why does she have to sneak around? It"s not like she is singing because she misses Kiryu, that"s right unlike before the purpose of her singing this song has changed now.
For some reason, her heart feels at ease whenever she sings this song. Whenever she feels restless, as long as she would sing this song, all her worries would vanish in an instant. It truly is mysterious, huh? To think a song about Kiryu would dispell all her uneasy thoughts, and make her feel at ease.
