Chapter 6069: I Actually Don’t Know
Li Qiye left the currency exchange and went to an empty spot, taking out the ghost coin given to him by the fog-shrouded ghost.
“Come out now, I hire you for one hundred million ghost coins.” Li Qiye tossed the coin into the air while playing with his filled pouch.
“Clank!” The coin was caught before it touched the ground by a gathering of fog.
“You wish to hire me, Sir?” The fog materialized into the ghost who bowed to Li Qiye.
“Isn’t this what you want?” Li Qiye smiled.
“Thank you, Sir.” The ghost accepted the pouch of coins and said: “I believe our karma intertwines.”
“The outcome of this depends on you.” Li Qiye said.
“It is enough now with the hiring, we will be able to figure this out.” The ghost said confidently.
“Seems like you already know something.” Li Qiye said.
“Truthfully, not yet, but intuition is calling me.” The ghost shook his head.
“Fine, now that you’re hired, state who you are.” Li Qiye waved his hand.
“Sir, I am the fog emissary.” The ghost revealed his role. [1]
“You’re one of the five emissaries?” Six-style thought that his appearance was a match for this role.
“Yes.” The ghost said.
“What are the emissaries’ responsibilities?” Li Qiye asked.
“We do not have any outside of inheriting one law from the major ghost market.” The ghost said.
“Does that allow you to live longer and better?” Li Qiye asked.
“More or less.” The ghost said: “We do have to carry out the rules.”
“Let’s talk about Old Pact Strike.” Li Qiye had no interest in the ghost market itself.
“I don’t know.” The ghost said.
“You don’t know? Yet you dare to ask for payment?” Six-style became annoyed.
“It’s just a matter of connected karma, that’s why I looked for him.” The ghost smiled awkwardly.
“If you are of no use, then I will have to finish you.” Li Qiye casually stated.
His stare creeped the ghost out, causing him to imagine his head falling to the ground.
He staggered backward and said: “Wait, Sir, although the details elude me, I know someone in the know.”
“Who?” Li Qiye asked.
“The water emissary.” The ghost obediently said: “I’m actually the youngest and newest emissary out of the five.”
“Don’t see that at all.” Li Qiye joked while staring at him.
“At least I’m the newest.” The ghost smiled wryly and said: “I became one after the secret war, hence my lack of knowledge.”
“Now you want me to go summon this water emissary too?” Li Qiye stroked his chin.
“No, of course not, I have one hundred million coins right here.” The ghost smiled.
“So much trouble in a roundabout manner for some karma.” Li Qiye said.
“The law tells me that my karma is connected to yours, Young n.o.ble, that’s the truth.” The ghost said: “I want to find the answer too.”
“It’s fine, I’m sure you know where this water emissary is.” Li Qiye said.
“We don’t have to find him, I can just summon him.” The ghost said: “Heaven spirits, earth spirits, one hundred million ghost coins to summon you, Brother Water.”
“Clank! Clank! Clank!” He tossed the pouch into the air.
“Splas.h.!.+” A river appeared before them with a wooden bridge that could take pa.s.sengers to the other sh.o.r.e.
Fog Emissary brought the duo to the bridge. Someone appeared amidst the water and smiled: “Did you drop something, perhaps this golden axe? Or this silver one?”
He took out a golden and a silver axe.
“It’s you!” Six-style recognized him - the first ghost they met in the market who offered them sweet soup. She was surprised because this random ghost turned out to be an emissary.
“Long time no see, Brother Water.” Fog Emissary greeted him.
“Nope, nope, it’s best not to see you. Nothing good can come from this.” Water Emissary shook his head.
“So you know him well?” Li Qiye chuckled.
“Hehe, he always wants to find his past self.” Water Emissary said.
“So you know what we’re looking for.” Fog Emissary jumped in.
“I know less than you who have been spying everywhere.” Water Emissary shook his head.
“Well, I found out that you’re the oldest of the five of us, so there’s nothing regarding the market you don’t know.” Fog Emissary didn’t want to waste the summon.
“Haha, how kind of you to tell Sir to summon me for an interrogation. Is it for his business or yours?” Water Emissary laughed, prompting Fog Emissary to give him a dirty glare.
“Go ahead and tell us what you know.” Li Qiye stroked his chin and smirked.
“Sir, I am just an underwater ghost, I see and hear nothing of other matters. Fog knows more than I do.” Water Emissary feigned innocence.
“Maybe I should keep you underwater, permanently.” Li Qiye smiled.
“No, please don’t!” Water Emissary became startled and waved his hands repeatedly, thinking about jumping onto the bridge.
