Emperors War

Chapter 50

Aker settled down and just accepted that he would be running the medic station for the next day. After Aker had given it some thought he realized it wasn"t all that difficult as he had been taking care of patients for the last couple of weeks without needing any a.s.sistance. There was a single time that he had looked for Dr. Life & Death needing some help and to answer a couple of questions about treating a patient but he couldn"t be found. Since he couldn"t find him Aker just went ahead and treated him, the patient recovered wonderfully and was still alive and fighting.

Since it was so late at night there was almost no one in the foyer so it was mostly silent. There was the occasional worker who was moving items from one place to the other that slightly interrupted the peace but that had stopped. Since Aker had been nervous about his role for the day it got his adrenaline running and he didn"t feel tired. Since that was the case, he decided to go through the medic station library.

"I"ve already read every single book here including all of the advanced books three times but you never know when something you missed might jump out at you." Aker"s thoughts about his medical capabilities displayed his lack of understanding. In Aker"s mind he was still a low-level apprentice doctor who was working The Pits and it was people like his Senior Brother Fenton and Doctor Life & Death who were the amazing doctors. In reality Aker had already surpa.s.sed his Senior Brother but there was still a vast difference between him and Doctor Life & Death. The frustrating part for Fenton was the unbelievable growth of Aker as it seemed every day he advanced by leaps and bounds.

As Aker was reading Advanced Illness & Diagnosis for Both Normal & Rare Symptoms, a book that was considered one of the key medical pract.i.tioner books for identifying and treating illnesses in the outer universe he found himself getting distracted and bored. As he was reading, he realized that he had inadvertently memorized the entire book so there was zero chance of a surprise or learning new information.

Aker put down the book and stared out across the foyer taking the whole environment in. This was his first time here at this hour as he would normally be practicing or getting ready to be fast asleep in his cell. In fact, since Aker had come here this was his very first time sitting down and not doing anything...he was just blankly staring out.

As Aker"s concentration slipped and he stared into the abyss focused on nothing, however, still taking everything in his environment a flash of color caught his eye. A tiny red blob was floating in the air aimlessly not seemingly moving to any particular influence.

As Aker"s eyes followed the red particle another blue particle became visible and then green, yellow and grey particles filled Aker"s vision as they gently floated around spanning from the floor to the ceiling covering the entire foyer.

Aker who had seen these particles before but had never paid much attention to them knew they were a.s.sociated with his mana skill. Immediately following the activation of his mana skill, he was able to see some of these particles floating around. Since he had activated the skill, he hadn"t noticed these particles so he wasn"t really putting any attention or thought into them. To be blunt, as he was allocating points to his mana skill, he wasn"t really sure what it was doing for him. When he allocated more points, it didn"t suddenly have him seeing the particles once again.

As Aker watched the particles dance in his sight as if though they were listening to a song only they could hear, he put out his hand and touched one of them. As his hand made contact with the blue particle it disappeared into his skin.

Seeing the particle disappear into his skin his thoughts shifted to the Body Conditioning levels for magic fighters.

"Normally for all magic fighters they have to purchase pills, herbs, and potions high in nature particles and consume them in order to fill their bodies with the nature particles. I was able to advance to the Skin Level of the magic fighter without having to use any of those pills, potions or herbs. My mana skill allows me to see these five different colored particles and they happen to match up with the colors of the nature particles, so are these the nature particles? Does my mana skill allow me to directly see nature particles and cultivate and absorb them right into my body?"

When Aker broke through the Body Conditioning Level Skin, he knew that it was related to his mana skill but he didn"t understand exactly why it occurred. After learning from Vance, the process for moving through the different levels and more importantly the different colors of the nature particles Aker was absolutely convinced that his mana skill allowed him to directly see and cultivate nature particles. Wouldn"t that mean he could advance without pills, herbs and potions?

Currently Vance was desperately trying to get resources for Aker to keep advancing on as a magic fighter. It was imperative that Aker break through the Body Conditioning Level Muscles as soon as possible. Vance"s plan is simple, he was going to take everything he earned as a guard working in The Pit and bet it on Aker. Over the next few months they would earn enough to start buying some simple pills and potions and within a year Aker should be able to reach the next level. Right now, Aker"s strength was strong enough to fight Level 1 Basic Beast and he should be fighting them for the foreseeable future, so if they plan well now, by the time he has to start fighting more difficult beast he should be able to break through, or at least that"s the hope.

The biggest problem is that the potions, pills, and herbs that support the Body Conditioning Levels are in extreme high demand and there are only so many potion masters, alchemist and herbalist who can produce them, and as such they are extremely expensive. If it wasn"t for the exorbitant cost wouldn"t everyone be a magic fighter? If it wasn"t so hard to get would anyone have to fight over those resources?

Seeing the particle disappearing into his body and concluding that these particles were exactly what he required to advance a feeling of joy overwhelmed Aker. He suddenly stood up and began running around with his eyes wide opened focused on the nature particles. He was running and jumping trying to get his body to make direct contact with them. As his body made contact each of the particles would disappear which would excite Aker even more causing him to run around faster. Suddenly like a madman Aker was sprinting around the foyer, the stupid excited smile on his face making him look even more like he had lost his mind.

It wasn"t uncommon for The Pit fighters to suddenly snap due to the extreme pressure and stress of fighting grueling death battle after death battle. There would it seems always come a point wherein the fighters condemned to The Pit would realize there was no hope of survival, that was the point that a person was most likely to break and was often referred to as "battle break".

If anyone was here to see the way that Aker was smiling as he ran and jumped aimlessly around the foyer, they would most certainly chalk it up to battle break.

Thankfully the foyer was currently empty excluding Aker so no one got to partake in Aker"s battle break. After running around for a few minutes Aker finally came to a stop as he realized that the approach of running around aimlessly while trying to make contact was not going to work.

"Why was I able to break through the first level of Body Conditioning Skin when I wasn"t out touching the particles? It seemed to happen as I was sleeping after I had just allocated more points to the mana skill. If I wasn"t out having to touch each of them does that mean there is a way to control them or bring them to me?"

Aker had no guide in his situation, as everyone else used pills, potions, and herbs there was no one to explain to Aker how to absorb nature particles this way. As such Aker would be forced to pave the path on his own through trial and error.

Reasoning that he was able to breakthrough on the magic fighter path must have been through his body or skill pulling or controlling the nature particles Aker began experimenting.

Aker pointed at a particle "come here" he called out curling his finger at it. The particle seeing that Aker called out with a curled finger did exactly what Aker wanted, if Aker"s goal was for it to completely ignore him as there was no change.

For the next hour Aker tried different combinations of staring, calling, and shouting with the hopes that the nature particles would move towards him. Each of his attempts were brilliant failures that would have made the room laugh had there been anyone present to watch. From a third person"s perspective it would have looked as if though Aker was just arbitrarily calling out to nothing as he demanded that it listened to him as no one else was capable of seeing the nature particles.

After animatedly running around and shouting for thirty minutes Aker was slightly tired. He had finished up with his fight just more than an hour ago and had been rammed across his back. Even if he was able to minimize the impact, he wasn"t able to avoid it all together so he was still feeling slightly sore.

As Aker sat down on the floor, he took a deep breath, held it and then let it out. Sitting in the medic station Aker looked up and saw a diagram of a human body with its circular system, nervous system and key organs. As Aker stared at the diagram, he visualized how oxygen moved through the body when one took a breath. Oxygen enters the body through the lungs then it is transferred into the blood stream where it travels through the rest of the body.

As Aker was recalling this information his mind began to a.s.sociate nature particles and Body Conditioning the same way.

"When advancing through the Body Conditioning levels of a magic fighter, the fighter has to first get the nature particles into their body and then fill up the entire body. The circular system automatically moved blood through the body in order to disperse oxygen to the whole body, why couldn"t we move nature particles through body the same way?"

As Aker was contemplating on moving nature particles through his body the nature particles within the area began to slowly migrate towards Aker. Little by little Aker was visualizing a circular system for his body that was capable of taking in nature particles and moving it through his body. This system would need its own veins as they wouldn"t be able to move with his blood. They would need their source for transferring like the lungs as well. This circular system would need to connect to his whole body, all of his organs, to his blood system and bones.

Aker pictured the nature particles moving into his lungs and then spreading out to his major organs, through his limbs and finally to his mind. In the process he was visualizing the particles were filling every fiber of his body just as blood did. It would flow to all of his fingers and would even saturate his bones.

As Aker visualized the process of nature particles as they circulated through his system the nature particles that were moving towards Aker began to speed up their descent towards him. After entering his body, the particles began following the path that Aker had constructed in his mind.

The particles began by coming in towards his lungs however due to the fact that the lungs were already there the particles moved down to his stomach where there were no major organs and followed the circulation path that Aker had designated.

As more nature particles began entering his body, they also followed the circulation and this process began to expand as more and more nature particles entered Aker"s body. After just a few minutes of circulation Aker suddenly threw up black blood and a "kaka" sound was emanating from Aker.

Suddenly a scream filled the foyer as Aker"s voice bellowed out across the room "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh". The sound of "kaka" "kaka" continued to ring out which lasted for several minutes. The nature"s particles continued their circulation as more and more particles entered his body causing the particles to move faster and faster. As the particles moved faster the pain that Aker was in only intensified.

Finally, a loud "kakakaka" sounded and all of the pain stopped. Aker heaved up one last bit of black blood and his skin began secreting a black sludge.

After a few minutes of heavy breathing Aker finally collected himself. The pain he had endured was torturous and brutal, it was comparable to when he suffered under the needles upon first arriving here.

As Aker was contemplating on the pain his thoughts were interrupted as he could suddenly feel the circulation of the nature particles in his body.

As he was thinking on the circulation of the natures particles his mind was drawn to his new veins and he was able to visualize them as they ran through his whole body, these veins instead of being filled with blood were filled with nature particles.

The pain and "kaka" sound coming from his body was these veins being created. Aker seeing these new veins was in total and utter shock...how? How did this happen?

For what seemed like an eternity but in reality, was just a couple of minutes Aker stared at and followed the path of these new veins.

"How did these new veins get created? No... I can"t exactly call them veins as they aren"t used to move blood but natures particles. Do I ask master about this? Do I ask teacher about these new veins, he has the most knowledge when it comes to the human body? Even if I ask them how do I describe it to them, master can you have two veins? Hmmm…. let"s name these new veins so we have a separate identifier, how about we call them…..Venas."
