Eternal Freedom

Chapter 29

It may seem that the Druid society is united, but in fact it is not. There are always moments of tension between the apex Druid Shrine, the house of the World Tree and the Mother Druid, and the three Great sects. The women are vicious and cunning, and most importantly, h.o.r.n.y. The power play keeps on going between these four, keeping the young ones in the dark of the conspiracies around them.

Capital City, Makara Dynasty, Human Continent.

The caravan rode into the territory of Makara Dynasty"s capital in the morning, riding towards "Blue Wind", a prestigious inn which cost a fortune to stay every day. They were supposed to go to the headquarters of the Great Root Sect, but the druid Zhen Qi specifically instructed to change their course.

"I will attend to some matters here, while you complete your mission and escort these caravans to the headquarters." she instructed the three druids in armor. These three had the highest authority below her for this mission.

"What about these two humans ?" one of the druid in armor asked, pointing at Ananya and Sura with her head.

"They shall come with me for a while, and we will arrive at the headquarters after we complete our mission." Zhen Qi waved her hand coolly.

The three did not ask further; according to the ident.i.ty she showed hers she was a directly pointed higher official from the Druid continent"s main branch of the sect. They left the capital, towards the headquarters of the sect in the dynasty.

"We"ll rest for a short while before leaving for a coastal city. My people have arranged a personnel to travel through the ocean."

Zhen Qi instructed the two and arranged three rooms. The Blue Wind inn was true to its reputation, and Ananya gaped as the druid easily took out a pouch full of shining gold coins.

The two were with the mature druid woman for a reason- she wanted to go to the Beastman continent. The two were hired as escorts for this mission, and she promised to give them a large reward.

They quickly settled down and rested until evening. It was dinner time when Sura knocked on Ananya"s door.

"Let"s eat." he dragged her to a nearby restaurant. Again, the country b.u.mpkin girl was gobsmacked by the prices, and even Sura, who was born with a silver spoon, was startled. His father was a role model for many and lived a modest life. However he hid his emotions and ordered a few dishes, not willing to embarra.s.s himself. He started eating each dish his his heart bled from agony duo to the tremendous loss of money.

Suddenly he stopped, his spoon froze in his hand. He furrowed his brows and concentrated on something. The restaurant was traditional styled and had compartments so families can eat in privacy. The two were the only ones in the room. Ananya sensed his discomfort and asked.

"What"s wrong ?"

He shushed her and said very softly.

"Listen."

Ananya strained her ears but she could not hear a thing, not even the voices of other customers in the neighboring rooms. Now she realized the problem, it was too quiet !

They both silently clenched the hilt of their swords and straightened their backs. At that moment the door to their room opened and the bell connected to the door jingled. Ananya"s heart almost jumped to her throat from the sudden surprise. The waiter entered the room and placed another exquisite dish and said them to enjoy their meal, then left the room.

The door closed closed before their eyes but the two did not stop staring the door. Many moments later the door opened again and a figure entered. This time it wasn"t the waiter, but a beautiful druid with dagger sheaths hanging on both sides of her lovely thighs. She had a short hair, but had two thick strands of hair which loosely dangled at the front. Sura had to say, her hairstyle along with her inborn crown really suited her. She had a leather armor shaped like a jacket, and the leather boots which stuck to her legs made her more beautiful.

"So, are the druids so arrogant that they make trouble in human territory ?"

Sura asked as he thought of possible escape plans. He only carried a heavy sword, and it was not suitable in a small enclosed room. As for depending on Ananya and her Seven Lotus Comprehensive Art.... it was an art that even the most ordinary sect disciples of a druid sect could easily find information about. Standing before them was most probably an expert, but he couldn"t think why the druids would suddenly want to kill them. Was it because he was the son of a Saint ?

It was a laughable thing. He knew his worth; he wasn"t like the genius imperial prince of the Great Maurya Dynasty, who had created celestial phenomenon upon his birth.

The druid heard his words and looked at him in derision.

"If you didn"t interfere in the matters of us druids, you would still remain alive. Alas....Child of Saint, even the Saint"s blessings won"t be able to save you today."

Although all races in the world thought of humans as weak, there were some figures which they heavily acknowledged and even idolized. These figures were the evolved versions of humans, the Sages, the Saints, and finally the Hero ! These evolution would happen in succession, and only a few knew how to distinguish them.

These figures had their own teachings and inheritances, and they were called differently according to their evolution. The teachings and inheritance of a Sage would be called the Sage"s Wisdom, that of a Saint would be called Saint"s Blessings, and that of a Hero would be called Heroic Spirit ! Of course, there would always be some rumors, and it was said that there was another stage beyond that. Those that surpa.s.sed the Hero would become a Legend, and his inheritance would be known as the Legacy !

Ananya and Mad Saber didn"t have time to think much as the druid swiftly unsheathed the daggers and moved towards them. Two harsh clinks were heard, and sparks appeared for a moment. Ananya was not a veteran and only survived the blow because she reacted instinctively. Mad Saber on the other hand used his large heavy sword as a shield and protected his body.

"Seven Lotus Comprehensive Steps ?" the druid warrior was only surprised for a moment and changed her battle style. Her daggers moved such that they could easily be dodged, but put a great stress on the joints of the two. Ananya could battle better than Mad Saber, who wanted to wave his heavy sword but couldn"t because of the small room. Every once in a while his sword could stab the wall, leaving a sharp mark.

"F*ck this !" Mad Saber shouted and swung his heavy sword at the druid warrior. The heavy sword rotated and flew in a straight line towards the druid, and she narrowly avoided the huge thing by sticking to the side wall. At the same time Ananya stabbed her shoulder. The beautiful druid"s pupils contracted as she quickly moved.

However, even though her responses were excellent, there just wasn"t much time and the edge of her sword cut into her shoulder. The sword traveled further and stuck itself into the wooden wall, pinning the druid warrior to the wall. The druid warrior yelled from the pain but slashed with her dagger to grab an opportunity. Her hand with the dagger traveled towards Ananya"s neck and almost reached it when it was stopped by a forehand.

Mad Saber saw the druid warrior who was pinned to the wall after some effort suddenly slash with her dagger to cut Ananya"s neck. He quickly dashed towards them with empty hands. His sword was lying still a distance away, near the door of the room. He jumped at used on of his bare hand to stop the incoming dagger, and at the same time sent a fully packed punch with the other. The dagger was ridiculously sharp, and with the force behind the dagger it immediately cut through the forehand, reaching into the bone. A little more and it would"ve neatly cut the hand into two.

Mad Saber almost collapsed from the pain, and the only thing keeping him awake was the adrenaline during the battle. His fist reached the druid who was pinned to the wall and made contact with her head. The druid felt her head spinning and her vision blackened.

The two moved a little away from the unconscious druid on the wall. Sura slowly picked up his sword with his good arm while his other hand continued leaking blood.

"Sura !"

Ananya shouted in horror when she saw his b.l.o.o.d.y wound, she could even see the bone from the wound.

His lips shivered in pain, but he gently tapped her shoulder as he said.

"Do not worry. Watch."

The wound immediately scabbed and blood stopped leaking. His pale expression turned to somewhat normal and his pain lessened.

He suddenly thought of the stern figure who"d beat him with a blank face whenever they would train. Not many knew of the responsibilities over his shoulder, including him when he was younger.

"Father...."

Ananya"s brows jumped in happiness as he looked at him. Sura looked at her and shook his head.

"Now isn"t the time for this."

He raised the hilt of his sword and pointed at the door. Walking steps grew clearer with each second- someone was approaching.

Even though Sura"s pain had lessened it still throbbed with pain every once in a while. As the sound of the footsteps grew clearer and louder he grew more irritated. First that druid b.a.s.t.a.r.d and now this .... these s.e.xy druids were trying to kill them for no reason ! Perhaps there was a reason, but he was not in the condition to think clearly. His anger grew, and as soon as the door opened he threw the dishes which were on the table at the newcomer.

The druid had clearly not expected to be bombarded by some dishes, and some soup entered her eyes.

"Aahhh !"

She shrieked and waved the short sword in her hand wildly, hoping for some lucky shot. Even though she could not see and her eyes were closed her actions were still exceptional, and she striked when she heard the slightest sound. Two random slashes. .h.i.t Ananya when the druid entered the room, and formed two shallow wounds.

She retreated, and Mad Saber pulled her behind him. He clenched his teeth and growled. He held his sword in front of him and charged forward. The druid woman who had soup in her eyes and hair felt someone running towards her and made a strike in that direction. Sparks appeared and the druid flew out, crashing into a wall behind her.

They ran out of the restaurant and suddenly heard a loud boom.

*BOOM*

Turning their heads, they saw Blue Wind, the inn Zhen Qi was still it on fire.
