Book 07 Chapter 172: Battle at Chiyou City
Chiyou City, Nine Li Imperial Dynasty, Divine Continent’s cardinal central position:
When the nation was established not long ago, Chiyou City was renamed to announce Chiyou’s return to the world. Despite the pa.s.sage of three thousand years, his name still carried resounding fame.
The sovereign of a royal dynasty, who had once served under Chiyou, had immediately handed over his nation and pledged allegiance upon hearing of Chiyou’s return. Likewise, the sect masters of six lower-tier sects willingly ceded their factions to him.
In a brief span of time, the Nine Li Royal Dynasty advanced to the Nine Li Imperial Dynasty. Its sovereign returned with unstoppable momentum. Although still far from its former glory, the dynasty began to take shape and expand.
The subjects of the Nine Li Imperial Dynasty understood the immense strength of Chiyou and firmly believed that, apart from the Huang Heavenly Dynasty, no one dared to challenge them.
However, on this fateful day, a calamity befell them.
Torrents of lightning cascaded from the heavens on Chiyou City’s formidable defensive ritual array, like a celestial river breaching its banks and engulfing the capital’s vicinity.
The once thriving land surrounding the city had been reduced to scorched earth.
The people within the city wore expressions of terror as cracks marred the protective ritual array, threatening its integrity. The looming deluge of lightning posed a dire threat to the citizens’ lives.
The lethal menace hung heavy in the hearts of all.
Accompanied by his loyal subjects, Chiyou cast a stony gaze upon the roiling thunderclouds above.
“Your Reverence, that…that is divine sky heavenly lightning? There is so much of it?” a startled official exclaimed.
A giant stared with narrowed eyes. “Eldest Brother, is this an electric eel spirit?”
Chiyou’s lips curled in a wintry smile. “The Heavenly Demon Holy Land? They are relentless, following us even to the land of the living. This is the Number Ten we encountered a few days ago?”
“The Heavenly Demon Holy Land? That pestilence pursued us even here? Number Ten? Does that mean he has reached the consummation of the Upper Heavenly Palace Realm?” that giant said with a chilling undertone.
“Indeed, the consummation of the Upper Heavenly Palace Realm. Hah! He is no different from the Corpse Worm Heavenly Demon, perhaps only slightly stronger. An electric eel? Just a mere common fis.h.!.+” Chiyou scoffed, his voice dripping with disdain.
“Your Reverence, leave it to your brothers. We shall devour them!” that giant proclaimed, a wicked grin spreading across his face.
The other eighty giants also displayed their ferocity, their expressions twisting into menacing smiles.
“Devour? Devour them, we shall. However, it is evident that this goes beyond the influence of the Heavenly Demon Holy Land. Humph! Ji Dihong dares to collude with them to deal with me? Hahaha! The timing couldn’t be better. Just these insignificant fish? We shall demonstrate the true extent of our strength!” Chiyou declared in a frigid tone.
“Understood! We await your orders, Your Reverence!” the giants bellowed in unison.
“If you desire to feast on them, go ahead. Everything beyond the boundary of Chiyou City shall be your banquet!” Chiyou commanded.
“Yes!” thundered the eighty-one giants.
Since the enemy had boldly come to their doorstep, pleasantries were unnecessary. With resolute determination, they surged forward, bursting forth from the protective ritual array.
Rumble…!
Surging lighting mercilessly a.s.saulted the bodies of the eighty-one giants. Just one look at the divine sky heavenly lightning sent s.h.i.+vers down spines, yet the giants did not even attempt to defend themselves. A raging sea of lightning instantly engulfed them.
“Hahaha! My divine sky heavenly lightning carries a venomous charge! You dare challenge it with mere flesh and blood? You are courting death!” Boisterous laughter resounded from within the thunderous tempest.
A colossal electric eel, stretching over three kilometers, maneuvered gracefully amid the turbulent torrent of lightning.
Boom!
The lightning crashed explosively on the giants, but like Chiyou, they were from one of the shaman race’s main lines of inheritance: the world devouring inheritance. Their flesh and bones were impervious to weapons.
The lightning sizzled along their bodies yet left no injury. They danced effortlessly amid the electric chaos as if traversing a vast ocean.
“What?” exclaimed the electric eel spirit in disbelief.
“Hehehehe! Do you think this mere drizzle can stand against my eldest brother? How laughable! Brothers, devour it!” bellowed one of the giants.
Boom!
Eighty-one mouths opened wide, inhaling with tremendous force.
Boom! Boom!
The torrents of lightning, akin to mighty rivers, entered the gaping maws of the giants. Electric energy coursed through their throats, and their bodies reveled in the exhilarating sensation. The eighty-one giants consumed one-tenth of the lightning in an instant.
The colossal electric eel’s visage contorted. It could not fathom what unfolded before its eyes.
“Impossible! World devouring? That ancient shaman lineage has long been extinct! You have merely acquired a superficial understanding!” shouted the electric eel, its voice tremulous with shock and anger.
In a fit of rage, the electric eel lashed its tail; the electricity on it seemed to darken as it struck a giant.
Boom!
The giant went hurtling through the air, his chest charred to a crisp.
“Hahaha! Did you truly believe you were invincible?” sneered the electric eel.
“You harmed my brother? Brothers, devour it!” roared one giant.
Boom!
Eighty giants lunged at the electric eel in a synchronized a.s.sault.
“Humph! Who do you think you are?” scoffed the electric eel. With a swift flick of its tail, it struck another giant with formidable force.
Boom!
Instead of being launched away, the giant grabbed the electric eel’s tail and held on tight.
Blargh!
The giant expelled a mouthful of blood, yet his expression grew fiercer as he sank his teeth deep into the eel’s flesh.
Crunch!
Akin to the sharpest blades in existence, the giant’s teeth ruthlessly tore a substantial portion of flesh from the electric eel.
“Argh!” howled the electric eel in agony, thras.h.i.+ng its tail in a futile attempt to break free.
However, the surrounding giants descended upon it one after another, unyielding in their pursuit.
The giants relentlessly gnawed and bit the electric eel. Black lightning burst out, charring their bodies, but they paid no heed to their injuries, continuing their voracious feast, devouring and chewing with ravenous hunger.
“Get away, you filthy pests! Get away!” The electric eel desperately thrashed its body, but the giants clung to it, undeterred by its struggles.
Injuries? They meant nothing to the giants. As long as there was something to devour, nothing else mattered.
In a blink of an eye, most of the giants had caught the electric eel, while the rest continued to feast on the lightning, depleting the sea of lightning at a visible rate.
“Scram!”
Boom!
With a mighty swing of its body, sacrificing chunks of flesh in the process, the electric eel flung all the giants away.
“Lightning domain!” the electric eel roared.
Buzz!
Ten thousand electric eel spirits appeared out of nowhere. When the divine Dao domain manifested, it made the ten thousand electric eels look t.i.tanic.
“We initially did not want to multiply, as we would become even hungrier. However, so be it. There’s food anyway!” declared one giant coldly.
Bang!
All eight-one giants brought out a divine Dao domain, each suddenly turning into ten thousand.
Whoos.h.!.+
Inhaling deeply, they drew in the sea of divine sky heavenly lightning, leaving only a thin layer behind.
“You gluttonous lot! To think you have deities? Die!” the electric eel exclaimed in a mix of shock and fury.
Ten thousand electric eels expelled torrents of black lightning from their mouths.
“Roar!”
The eighty-one thousand giants advanced, their mouths opened wide to consume the onslaught of black lightning.
Boom! Crunch! Crunch!
Devouring the black lightning, they pressed forward fearlessly. What could ten thousand electric eels do against them? The electric eel might have a domain, but so did the giants. They just had to devour everything.
Rumble…!
The consummate Upper Heavenly Palace Realm electric eel found itself besieged by the eighty-one giants gnawing and devouring relentlessly.
------
Borderless Heavenly Capital:
Gu Hai, Gu Han, Vairocana, and Shangguan Hen fixed their gaze upon the scene, taking it all in.
“World devouring? It lives up to being one of the shaman race’s five great lines of inheritance. Those eighty-one giants can fight a consummate Upper Heavenly Palace Realm cultivator despite being at the ninth layer themselves? Furthermore, they even hold the advantage?” Gu Hai murmured.
“The destructive black lightning from the Heavenly Demon Holy Land’s Number Ten can harm even consummate Upper Heavenly Palace Realm cultivators, yet those giants seem unaffected. Their physical bodies…,” Gu Han exclaimed in astonishment.
“Chiyou is truly extraordinary. Husband, you’ve sworn brotherhood with a formidable first brother,” Chen Xianer said with a smile.
The Unborn Man was taken aback. What does Chen Xianer mean? Can she also see into the distance? Is she also at the consummation of the Upper Heaven Palace Realm?
Gu Hai nodded, his expression grave. “Is there only one electric eel spirit? It seems things are not as simple as they appear. Gu Han, Shangguan Hen!”
“Present!” the two responded promptly.
“Both of you immediately go to Chiyou City and follow Chiyou’s orders! Prepare to confront the incoming enemies!” Gu Hai commanded.
“Yes!” the astonished two replied.
Chiyou clearly holds the advantage, so why send us? However, the two did not voice their doubts. They swiftly stepped forward and shot towards the Divine Continent’s cardinal central.
-----
Indeed, no sooner had they arrived than Chiyou City’s situation changed.
The ten thousand clones returned to being one. The eighty-one giants firmly gripped the electric eel spirit. Unfazed by the electric eel spirit’s desperate struggles and the injuries they sustained, they tenaciously gnawed and devoured its body, driven by an insatiable hunger.
They could even give up their lives to eat.
“You b.a.s.t.a.r.ds! Ah, let go, let go!” The electric eel spirit kept unleas.h.i.+ng its destructive black lightning. However, the giants remained steadfast, refusing to release their grip despite their increasingly severe injuries.
“Save me! My lightning can’t kill these filthy worms! Hurry, save me!” The electric eel spirit writhed in agony.
A large hand emerged from the chaotic sea of lightning, reaching for the distressed electric eel spirit.
Below, Chiyou smiled coldly. “You finally couldn’t resist anymore? Hah!”
After speaking, Chiyou thrust his hand, throwing a palm strike at the sky.
Boom!
A pitch-black manifested palm soared into the sky with a destructive aura, shattering the remaining lightning and swiftly reaching the approaching hand.
Originally intended to aid the electric eel spirit, the hand could not disregard Chiyou’s sudden attack. It could only confront Chiyou’s strike head-on.
As the manifested palm approached, it became clear that the hand was a ma.s.sive bear paw.
“It’s you, Ji Dihong’s lackey, the Bear Prime, Xiong You? Humph! Don’t you know? We have a particular fondness for bear paws!” Chiyou sneered with contempt.
Just as the colossal bear paw was about to collide with Chiyou’s manifested palm, a sudden transformation occurred. A mouth lined with razor-sharp fangs appeared in the center of his manifested palm as it closed in on the bear paw.
“What? You b.a.s.t.a.r.d Chiyou! How dare you?!” A deep voice of alarmed fury boomed in the thunderclouds.
Boom!
The mouth in Chiyou’s palm swallowed the enormous bear paw in one swift gulp.
Crunch!
As if something had been severed, blood fountained, splattering in all directions.
“Roar!”
A voice of furious indignation reverberated within the thunderclouds.
