Chapter 447: Anyone Seen A Ginseng This Huge?
Secretary Zhou was unsure how to answer just then.
Jiang He was adept at secret Yuan Spirit techniques, but more unbelievably, he could wield it at Golden Pellet-tier, even before he had yet to cultivate Yuan Spirit. He used it to consecutively cut down the Golden-Winged Winged Roc, a full-fledged Yuan Spirit Sky Demon, and many more powerful foes.
Secretary Zhou knew that, and in turn understood that being worn out in Yuan Spirit was almost routine for Jiang He.
“Could he have some other internal injury?”
Jiang He frowned then. “Spiritual exhaustion is not a problem. I myself had trouble sleeping a while ago, so I wore myself out using secret Yuan Spirit techniques as if it was a sleeping pill, and it had never been this serious.”
Secretary Zhou was dumbstruck.
Nonetheless, Jiang He’s tone changed then and he added, “I got it... there’s a difference in physical const.i.tution between different people.”
Const.i.tution, my foot! The obvious problem is that you are a supreme anomaly, please!
Secretary Zhou was almost losing his mind.
At the same time, Jiang He sighed and said, “Well, how about this? Since breakfast isn’t ready yet, I’ll come with you to Jingdu City to see if I could help Minister w.a.n.g.”
“Thank you, Mister Jiang.”
Secretary Zhou’s eyes lit up.
In the next instant, Jiang He was already in the air and reached out to grab, lifting Secretary Zhou up in the air.
He invoked his Golden Radiance sword, riding it with Secretary Zhou and covering hundreds of miles in an instant. They landed at the headquarters of the Martial Arts Department (MAD) soon enough, then headed into w.a.n.g Hou’s training room.
There was a patient bed within, and a pale-faced w.a.n.g Hou was lying on it.
A white-haired Chinese medicine doctor stood beside the bed.
Jiang He could not help looking at him.
It turned out that the Chinese medicine doctor was a martial artist himself who had cultivated True Qi despite his moderate qi, reaching rank-five pinnacle. Moreover, he was powerful in spirit and a unique energy overflowed in his body from head to toe—he must be an Awakened who was around A-cla.s.s, or rank-eight in martial arts.
Jiang He learned who he was after Secretary Zhou introduced them...
He was once the country’s leading doctor and quite famous in the field of Chinese medicine, and unexpectedly awakened superpowers after the Revival of Qi.
The old Chinese medicine doctor knew Jiang He and admired his achievements, which made him a little embarra.s.sed. Smiling, he said, “You are too kind, Doctor Zhou... by the way, what is your superpower? I have no motives; I am simply curious.”
“There’s nothing to hide about it.”
Doctor Zhou appeared quite proud at the mention of his superpower, and replied, “The powers I have awakened is connected to acupuncture, and I could wield qi to place my needles, hence using many a lost acupuncturing technique.”
“So what is Minister w.a.n.g’s condition?”
Jiang He then asked about w.a.n.g Hou.
Doctor Zhou gave him a brief idea, saying helplessly, “He is overly fatigued in spirit, and he might be wounded in martial Yuan Spirit. I can’t do a thing.”
Beside them, Secretary Zhou added, “I had already requested spirit medicine that could aid in spiritual wounds from the Ten Thousand Swords Sect, but Minister w.a.n.g had always cultivated martial Yuan Spirit, which is fundamentally different from the Yuan Spirit of immortals. The spirit pellets that would work for immortal Yuan Spirit were therefore not particular effective for Minister w.a.n.g.”
“I have mobilized every local MAD branch across the nation as well so that they would search for floral spirits that hopefully works for Minister w.a.n.g.”
Jiang He’s gaze shifted slightly.
Floral spirits had unique effects much more mystical compared to ordinary mutated plants, so it was very likely they had the capacity to heal spiritual damage.
Nonetheless, Jiang He said, “The Ferals in the nation are already weakened, and most warriors would already have explored every nook and cranny multiple times. You should send some of our elites outside the country to search instead.”
Secretary Zhou smiled bitterly. “It’s not as if that hadn’t crossed my mind, but all foreign nations are in a mess right now. Some of the powerful Ferals had evolved and metamorphosized following the Second Revival of Qi, becoming even more frightening. Moreover, the other countries mostly rely on technology to repel Ferals and are lacking in martial arts, meaning that the Ferals would mutate further, therefore giving rise to more powerful Ferals. Recklessly sending our people overseas would only be putting them in danger.”
“Oh?”
Jiang He was surprised. He frequently kept tabs on both foreign and domestic situations, but gradually ignored it all as his cultivation improved. As such, he promptly asked in surprise, “Is the situation outside the country this dangerous? According to what I know, the west has some ancient legacies as well and there might be many elites who have survived until now. Are they not helping?”
“Well...”
Secretary Zhou could not help laughing out loud at the mention of that.
Then, realizing that he had erred, he straightened his face, but failed three seconds later, laughing for a while again before saying, “Sorry, I really couldn’t help it, Mister Jiang.”
Jiang He was left puzzled and baffled.
Was that a joke?
Was my question that funny?
On the other hand, Secretary Zhou took a deep breath to stifle his laughter before saying, “Mister Jiang, the West does have many ancient legacies and many elites who lived until now. A while ago, when that daemon king of Skull Island came to be, it was said that three of their elites who lived through the ages attacked it... and ended up killed by the daemon king.”
“...”
Jiang He appeared taken aback, and could not help laughing out loud as well.
It appeared that the Ten Thousand Swords Daoist was right... the West’s legacies were too weak.
The magic that was a branch of Dao and elemental techniques could only count as an offshoot of Dao energy, and was somehow touted by western cultivators as divine and could birth elites or whatnot.
The Hua Nation had acceptable intelligence sources on foreign affairs, and Secretary Zhou even knew about the t.i.tles of the three ancient western elites, one of them being a sacred mage and the other two sacred warriors.
Jiang He did not know about the categorization of their cultivation, and so asked for more information.
Secretary Zhou replied, “I had cross-referenced and verified their cultivation tiers with the immortals of the various sects, and it turns out that their sacred warriors and sacred mage are equivalent to paragon martial artists of Mahayana cultivators. However, against beings of equal rank, the mage and warriors would be weaker.”
“Above sacred-tier is G.o.d-tier.”
“According to the West’s grading, that would be equal to immortals, and it’s divided to lesser G.o.ds, intermediate G.o.ds, greater G.o.ds, and overdeity. So-called overdeities would be an equivalent to Grand Luo for cultivators.”
“Oh?”
Jiang He was quite surprised, and said, “That means the West’s legacy is not all that weak... Grand Luo are not weak even across worlds, and what’s with that daemon king of Skull Island? For that sacred mage and sacred warriors to lose against it... could it have become an immortal daemon?”
Jiang He was himself aware of the Daemon King from Skull Island.
It was said to be an extremely violent ape king which possessed an ancient bloodline and had awakened before the Revival of Qi. In fact, it was born centuries ago, and a certain country had found the daemon deep in the Atlantic Ocean during the second world war, suffering heavy casualties after they fought it.
That was how Skull Island got its name.
The creature was universally acknowledged as Earth’s most powerful Feral Emperor as well.
And now, it seemed that the ape king’s power had long since surpa.s.sed Feral Kings’, but that was within one’s expectations. After all, it had never attacked following the Revival of Qi, and all everyone had was merely theories.
“Interesting.”
Jiang He became curious at that.
A Mahayana-tier Daemon King?
One that possessed ancient bloodline?
And it could fight off three ancient western elites at the same time and live...
“Could it be the bloodline of some ancient divine beast?” As the thought crossed his mind, Jiang He glanced at w.a.n.g Hou who was on the sick bed and was frailly opening his eyes. He wanted to get up after seeing Jiang He, only to be pinned down by Jiang He.
“Jiang He, I...”
“Don’t talk, Minister w.a.n.g!”
Jiang He stopped him just as he was about talked and comforted him, saying, “Doctor Zhou... can I just ask, what are the more common medicine that soothes the mind and revitalizes spirit?”
“Soothes the mind and revitalizes spirit?”
Doctor Zhou said. “Mister Jiang, Minister w.a.n.g’s condition cannot be salvaged by such ordinary medicine.”
Still, he listed several types of medicine that had such properties.
Some were Chinese and others were western, including Hundred Peaceful Sleeps, Sweet Dream Capsules, Invigoration Syrup, Dates Kernel Capsules, Tempest Pills, Mindfort Pills, Head and Kidney Pills, and so forth...
Judging from the names, the Invigoration Syrup and the Mindfort Pills are more suitable.
Still, considering that w.a.n.g Hou often drank wolfberries...
“It’s kidney exhaustion.”
As the thought occurred to Jiang He, he made his choice and said, “Alright, Minster w.a.n.g, Secretary Zhou, Doctor Zhou—please take a break. I’ll go home for some breakfast, and return with Minister w.a.n.g’s medicine in the afternoon.”
Whoosh!
He took to the skies, instantly disappearing from Jingdu City and soon returning home.
Naturally, Jiang He made the trip to Lingzhou City before getting home, and bought several boxes of Head and Kidney Pills.
After all, Minister w.a.n.g was spiritually worn.
In short, he was exhausted in spiritual strength, hurting his martial Yuan Spirit and mind.
This pill strengthened the mind, which was the effect that could heal w.a.n.g Hou’s injury.
As for the kidney supplement effect...
It was merely a gift for w.a.n.g Hou.
“Having cultivated martial arts to this level and still getting kidney weakness... Is there something wrong with Minister w.a.n.g?” Jiang He muttered, returning home just as his maids finished making breakfast.
After he ate, Jiang He came out to his Farm to find it an oily-green field of... ginseng!
“Oh... did the mutated ginseng seeds I planted already grow so much?”
The ginsengs were indeed growing at a delightful rate.
Half of each ginseng had grown out of the soil.
They were white and plump like radishes poking out of the ground, each as thick as an arm and around six to seven centimeters long.
“Gasp!”
Jiang He inhaled sharply...
If up to six centimeters of the ginseng had grown out of the ground, did that not mean the entire thing was up to twenty centimeters long?
Had anyone ever seen a ginseng this large and this thick before?!
