Chapter 542: Vicious and Merciless
Be that as it may, the death of fifteen Demi-Saints did not force the G.o.ds and Demons, but it strengthened their resolve to kill Jiang He instead!
Rumor had it that their Saints were on the move, requesting certain powerful Demi-Stains to aid the Demi-Saints of their two races to attack Jiang He, though not many answered their call.
The G.o.ds and Demons were hegemons of the universe, but despite having recruited dozens of va.s.sal races to their courses, all they had managed to achieve in their endless war against the Three Realms was fight to a stalemate. Neural races would hide as far as they could when they saw them—would they dare interfere in their campaign?
Of course, it was inevitable that there were those born with less developed brains, and be attracted by offers of profit from the G.o.ds and Demons.

The Demons’ stronghold at the celestial battlefield was a bustling constellation that superior beings of the Demon race had modified, migrating every living planet in the area to another galaxy and forging it into a colossal staging area.
The entire galaxy was an ancient array.
In battle, it would transform into a great celestial war that extends over several thousand light years.
And at the moment, twenty-seven Demons were gathered in the same room in a ma.s.sive living planet with a diameter measuring up to 100,000 km.
It turns out that the G.o.ds, Demons, and their va.s.sal races had mobilized a total of thirty Demi-Saints, and the Stoner Patriarch as well as the Nether River Patriarch made it thirty-two.
But now, Jiang He had killed fifteen of them while the Nether River Patriarch was subjugated by the Primeval Lord of Heaven, leaving fifteen Demi-Saints.
The twenty-seven Demi-Saints present were elites sent afterwards by the G.o.ds and Demons… it was no exaggeration to say that those two races had basically sent every Demi-Saint they had.
They had considered the possibility of being totally wiped out at once… but after weighing various factors, they decided killing Jiang He was more important!
Moreover, the respective patriarchs of the G.o.ds and Demons had deduced why those fifteen Demi-Stains sent beforehand were killed… it could only be said that Jiang He had managed to wipe them out because they were careless.
If they had not been restrained in Jiang He’s array, Jiang He would never have killed all fifteen of them even if he sent dozens more foreign Grand Luo to self-destruct.
That was what the Saints of the G.o.ds and Demons informed the many Demi-Saints.
Each of the twenty-seven Demi-Saints were holding a jade scroll recorded with latest information about Jiang He.
Nonetheless, a machine warrior gleaming in metallic l.u.s.ter exclaimed uncertainly as he sat on a throne, saying, “A dozen years of cultivation… a grandmaster in item crafting, pellet refining and arrays… Grand Luo-pinnacle, but high chance of not actually being the case?”
“This report is mistaken, surely?”
The machine warrior sneered as he slammed the report on the table. “I may not have fought humans, but I know that they are born weak, and that all their Grand Luo and Demi-Saints had only gained such accomplishments by cultivating over endless ages. How could one of theirs who has merely cultivated for a dozen years progress to such level?”
Beside him, an elite G.o.d said indifferently, “My master would not hold Jiang He in such high esteem if that wasn’t the case.”
That elite G.o.d was referring to the Patriarch of the G.o.ds, being his most senior disciple and the strongest individual barring Saints. He would not lose out by much in ability even when compared against the Nether River Patriarch, the Grand Mage of Xuandu, and Stoners… and he was definitely among the top ten of the strongest Demi-Saint across worlds!
The machine warrior, whose race was one of the hegemons of the galaxy, was an elite whom the G.o.ds and Demons had invited to help in their fight.
Still, their strength paled in comparison to the Three Realms or the G.o.ds and Demons… They also only had two Saints of average ability, which ranked them rank-bottom among the Saints powerhouses.
There were other handful elites here to reinforce the G.o.ds and Demons as well, most of whom were unt.i.tled cultivators.
Naturally, there were no ordinary unt.i.tled cultivators since they could cultivate to their current level. These individuals belonged to different races across the universe, but were forced to wander the stars after their race had fallen.
One such individual was a burly, muscular man with a golden horn on his head.
He was a cosmic behemoth—a special lifeform even in this universe.
Indeed, his kind was so rare that there were less than a million of them across all the worlds in the universe… and it just so happened that a million years ago, a calamity befell their clan’s grounds and killed almost all of them, leaving just a handful of them wandering the stars.
Meanwhile, after the Patriarch of the G.o.ds’ most senior disciple had spoken, the many Demi-Saints reevaluated Jiang He’s data.
“How many of those slaves with that weird power does he still have? We might not be able to stop him if he throws over a hundred of them at us and have them self-destruct!”
“Everyone would need to work together and make no mistakes if Jiang He is to be killed, or some of us would not survive!”
However, even as the many Demi-Saints drew up their plans, a Grand Luo suddenly barged into the room.
That Grand Luo was the one standing guard over the Demons’ stronghold, and there was a fl.u.s.tered look on his face as he walked up to a Demi-Saint Demon and leaned in to whisper into his ear.
“What?!”
The Demi-Saint Demon’s face dropped and he abruptly sprang to his feet, bellowing in rage, “For real!?”
“What’s going on?”
As the other Demi-Saints looked towards him, the Demi-Saint Demon scowled and replied, “I’ve just received word that just half an hour ago, Jiang He had broughy a cat and a dog with him on an a.s.sault in Aquarion.”
“What?”
The Demi-Saints of the G.o.ds all rose to their feet, disbelief showing all over their face.
Aquarion was the G.o.ds’ base for the celestial battlefield.
One of the Demi-Saint G.o.ds present whipped out his communications jade charm, scowling as he received the information just then, “Nine living planets were blown up, one Grand Luo dead and 1.6 million elite Sentry G.o.ds killed.”
“d.a.m.n it!”
The many Demi-Saint G.o.ds were clenching their teeth, holding back the impulse of biting Jiang He’s head off.
Three of them casted their spells to leave.
At the same time, one of the Demi-Saint G.o.ds said with an enlightened face, “Gentlemen, it seems that we would draw up a new plan. Jiang He is not playing his cards as a normal person would, and should we leave this constellation to look for him, he might launch a second ambush.”
“Hehe…”
One of the Demi-Saint Demons with a powerful aura sneered. “Are the territories of us Demons that easily ambushed?”
He had just spoken when the Grand Luo just now ran inside again, a puzzled look showing on his face as he said uncertainly, “My lord, I’ve just received word that… Moyin just entered our encampment.”
“Who was it?”
“Moyin!”
“But he’s died a long time ago! Who gave you that information?”
The Demi-Saint Demon was seething one second but turning pale in the next, and he cried out in shock, “Oh, no…”
***
“Tut, tut…”
On an asteroid fragment ten light years away from the constellation that the Demons occupied, Jiang He was instructing Dumbo, Trumbo, and the others as they made inventory of the corpses of the ground.
There were thousands of them lined up in a single row, and all of them were elite G.o.ds wearing special-made armor for their own race.
“Keep all Golden Immortals!”
“Anyone lower than Golden Immortal, throw them to the Cloudsc.r.a.per Vine as fertilizer… and keep all the mystic treasures or medicinal pellets they have—can’t let anything go to waste, right?”
Jiang He then looked towards the galaxy in the distance which was wafting with Demonic Qi, muttering, “I wonder if that brat Moyin could do it…”
He had led Dumbo and Trumbo in an ambush on the G.o.ds’ base camp.
They had dealt significant damage, but their gains were paltry.
Then, when he was about to attack the Demons’ base camp, Moyin came forward, telling Jiang He that he knew the location of the Demons’ treasure vault in said encampment. Furthermore, he possessed the keys to several of the vaults, which he was in charge of back when he was alive…
As such, Jiang He sent out Moyin and several other Grand Luo Demons which he planted.
His orders were simple: get him the treasure troves of the Demons if they could, or self-destruct immediately in the Demons’ encampment if they couldn’t, and blow up as many other Demons as they can.
“Don’t blame me for being gentle and merciful since all of you tried to kill me… By the way, my grievance with the Sky Demons concludes with the Patriarch of the Sky Demons dead.”
With that thought, Jiang He called Lord Skyless of the G.o.d race to him and instructed, “Bring along ten Grand Luo with you and take over the Sky Demons’ constellation.”
“Ahem…”
Beside him, Dumbo whispered, “You used the wrong phrase there, Master—I think you mean to say vicious and merciless.”
