Chapter 81

Editor: SimoB

The golden dragon was furious.

When he heard the sound of his little mermaid crying, he was so enraged that he wanted to swallow the whole sea.

By the time he rose out of the sea and located the little mermaid sprawled on the ship, his tender face was covered with tears. Shi Qing pitifully reached out towards the golden dragon, further inciting his fury.

These humans!!!

How dare these humans do such a thing to his little mermaid!!

His baby was a fish, and they’ve forced him ash.o.r.e!!

Yes, in the Golden Dragon’s Eye, this boat was considered land.

Anywhere out of the water was dangerous for fishes.

Even if they were mermaids!

He roared, and with a flick of his tail crushed the boat into pieces.

The people in the boat were lucky Shi Qing was there, because otherwise the golden dragon would’ve surely aimed for them directly.

The humans on board were thrown into the water amidst the wreckage of the ship, but they all knew how to swim so no one drowned.

But at this point they were about to die of fright.

Zeng Nan and the others were relatively safe compared to those who still had their hands and feet bound.

She took the opportunity to cut her bindings. Struggling to open her eyes underwater, she dove to save her subordinates.

Those who emerged first from the water were not so lucky.

As soon as they came out, they were confronted by the gigantic head of the golden dragon.

The pirates: “……”

There was no need to mention the rest of his body, just his head alone was…

Let’s just say that one of his eyes was bigger than an entire human.

One could imagine what a horrifying experience it was to come face to face with such a behemoth.

They were about to die of fright, okay?!

And yet, the golden dragon paid no attention to the humans who were scared s.h.i.tless.

Every fibre of his being wanted to rescue his baby right now. As for these humans, well, they definitely wouldn’t be leaving the sea.

No matter how delicate Shi Qing appeared to be, he was still a siren. When the boat capsized, he easily found a piece of broken wood and sat on it. He then swiftly moved to the paw the golden dragon carefully extended in his direction.

In his new perch, he serenely watched over the paddling pirates and opened his lips a fraction. A beautiful melody emerged from his vocal chords.

The sirens’ song had, at its core, an enchantment that lured all who heard it closer.

The eyes of the formerly desperate pirates gradually dilated as the corpses of their ‘two-legged sheep’ victims came into view.

The humans who perished at the hands of their own species seemed to return to life as ghostly skeleton apparitions. They floated in the sea, flashing ghastly white smiles at the ones responsible.

“AHHHHHH!!!!”

Screams joined together in an unholy choir on the sea surface, which gradually quietened once again as the pirates convulsed and sank to the bottom of the sea with terrified expressions.

They were obviously still conscious, but their limbs no longer obeyed their commands.

They could only twitch as they drowned.

The golden dragon watched these people die, but the only sadness he felt was for the little mermaid singing softly on his paw.

It seemed like his inherited memories weren’t lying when they said that sirens sang badly.

After all, how else can you explain these humans dying from how horrible this incomprehensible song was?

Even though he knew that the sirens beaten up in his inherited memories for singing badly weren’t his baby, the golden dragon’s heart still ached.

Just the thought of his baby being beaten up by other creatures for singing badly before the golden dragon woke up made him want to swallow all the fish in the sea.

When he then considered how the little mermaid might give up on singing for fear of being beaten even though he clearly loved to… The aggrieved image his mind conjured up broke his heart even more.

His poor baby… How uncomfortable it must be for a siren to forcefully repress the inherent urge to sing.

You might be asking how he came to this conclusion.

Couldn’t you see that the little mermaid only dared to sing when he was sitting on the dragon’s paw?!

The golden dragon was afraid that his baby’s confidence would be shaken if he knew those humans literally died because of how horrible his singing was, so he quickly swept his tail over and blew all the dead bodies to the bottom of the sea.

Let’s pretend that these people killed each other.jpg

It definitely wasn’t his baby’s terrible singing that killed them.jpg

I could pretend nothing happened if I destroyed all the evidence.jpg

After making sure that he destroyed everything that would prove otherwise, the golden dragon immediately started praising his baby with a thick face.

“Beautiful, truly beautiful!!”

“My baby is so talented”

Shi Qing’s lips proudly curled. He embraced the nearest claw with both arms and nuzzled against it, saying cutely: “You’re the best.”

The golden dragon: “!!!”

His baby said he was the best!

All the anger in his heart melted away, leaving him filled with joy.

His happiness led to his tail uncontrollably curling this way and that.

To those underwater…

A second ago, this dragon’s tail just killed a few people.

It basically smashed those pirates into a pulp.

Then it immediately churned the waters violently, with no sign of stopping any time soon.

Zeng Nan panicked. Was this dragon trying to create a whirlpool to drown them alive?!

She sped up the pace of rescuing her subordinates, trying to use hand gestures in the water that had grown muddy due to the flailing tail to signal for them to leave this place with her quickly.

They had to remain underwater, at least until they were far away from this huge golden dragon.

She didn’t want to be reduced to a b.l.o.o.d.y pulp with her subordinates.

But in reality, if the golden dragon that was heaven’s beloved was so inclined, these humans wouldn’t be able to escape from him, even if they reached the sh.o.r.e.

The only reason he wasn’t going after them was simply because Shi Qing didn’t want him to.

The little mermaid grumbled as he explained the situation. “When I came to find my friends to play, those bad guys captured us. They even said they were going to eat me! That’s why I killed them.”

The little mermaid raised his beautiful fishtail and gently rubbed the pad of flesh in the center of the dragon’s paw with limpid eyes. His tender lips that had just sung the song of death gently planted a kiss on one of the dragon’s fingers.

His voice was as petulant as ever. “Thank goodness that you’re here, otherwise they would definitely have eaten me.”

–Kaboom!

Even though the little mermaid’s kiss was so light that he could hardly feel it, the golden dragon’s mind was still thrown into disarray.

His little mermaid!

Kissed him!!

Him!!!

!!!!

According to the golden dragon’s inherited memories, only dragon that wanted to f**k would kiss each other.

Did this mean that his little mermaid wanted to f**k him?!?

None of his inner thoughts were shown on his big dragon face, but the long tail in the sea was already whipping up another storm.

After successfully churning the surrounding seawater, the golden dragon shyly admitted to himself that he wanted to f**k too.

The golden dragon suddenly thought of a problem.

Ever since he was born, the golden dragon knew in the back of his mind that he would be the last dragon in the world.

In other words, he was an infertile dragon.

Would the little mermaid leave him because of that?

Would he blame himself for not being able to produce little dragons or mermaids?

…There must be other sirens in the ocean.

The baby sirens in the golden dragon’s inherited memories were very small at first.

What if he went and stole one for the two of them to raise as their own?

In less than a minute, the golden dragon was already considering what to do if the little mermaid was sad when their stolen child grew up and found a companion of their own.

While the golden dragon was thinking about this and that, Shi Qing lay comfortably on his paw, enjoying the pleasant rays of sunlight shining down on his body.

From his high-up perch, he could see Zeng Nan’s group clawing their way back to sh.o.r.e.

Zeng Nan and the others were indeed swimming.

They knew that at least three hours of grueling travel laid before them, with no guarantee that they wouldn’t lose their way.

Luckily, Zeng Nan had the foresight to grab a wooden plank that they could rest on in turns if they got tired. They could dive down for fish if they were hungry, and if they were thirsty…

Welp, nothing they could do about that. Seawater wasn’t drinkable.

The more you drank, the thirstier you became.

It was also fortunate that the dragon’s roar just now seemed to have scared away all the large fish around, leaving only a single slow moving one behind.

Otherwise they would still have to contend with underwater dangers.

As they swam on with all their might, one subordinate cautiously looked behind them. He just happened to see the horrifying image of the dragon’s huge upper body blocking out the sun.

He gulped, “Boss, I don’t think that dragon’s going to chase us since we didn’t bully that mermaid.”

“Yeah, didn’t that mermaid like you quite a bit, Boss? He might even put in a good word for us!”

“But I still can’t figure out why the child of a dragon this big would be a mermaid? What do they even have in common other than scales on their bodies??”

The size difference alone didn’t make sense. This wasn’t just testing the boundaries of reproductive isolation anymore, this was trampling on the foundations of science itself!

Zeng Nan, who was puffing and swimming: “……”

Why are you asking me like I know!?

If she had known that the mermaid had this guy backing him up, would she have been so wary? No! She would’ve fallen over herself to appease him!

If they had the protection of such a behemoth, they would be able to venture out to sea uncontested.

However….

As she recalled how standoffish she had been because she thought the mermaid was pretending to be weak, how she rarely accepted his gestures of goodwill…

Zeng Nan wanted to give her past self two resounding slaps!

Serves you right for making something out of nothing!

How could she forget that humans weren’t the only creatures on Earth that could rely on their family’s influence!?!

She actually let such a huge golden thigh get away!!

Ahhhh!!! She regretted it so much!!!

She didn’t even know if there was a chance to recover from this mistake.

Zeng Nan silently vowed that she would give 12,000% effort if that mermaid came over again, and treat him like her venerable ancestor.

She remembered that the mermaid seemed to like inviting her to play in the sea.

She would definitely accept next time.

Never again would she make things up in her head!

[Ding! Zeng Nan’s animosity value: 49/100]

The System was shocked.

What happened to the animosity value? Wasn’t it over 90 last time??

It popped out: [Host–]

[Oh.]

Faced with a mosaic, the System silently stooped back down.

But unsettling questions continued to plague its code.

The golden dragon was so big. Was the Host actually going to…?

It began to question its system life.

How was that even possible??

Would it see a dead fish the next time it came out??

The System ducked back so quickly that it failed to notice that the mosaic it had seen wasn’t as big as it should have been. It was way smaller than a building.

Well, it was still pretty big, relatively speaking…
