Chapter 1318 – Making the best out of a bad situation
After leaving Yuan Xinwu, Feng Yu went to look for Kirilenko.
“Brother Ki, what is your relationship with Alexander?”
Kirilenko looks at Feng Yu puzzledly. “We are just business partners, and he is the President’s youngest son. What’s wrong with me partnering with him? Why should I look for others instead of him?”
“No. I mean, his father is anti-corruption, and how can he allow his son to do business? Furthermore, his son is one of the top tyc.o.o.ns in Belarus. This will have an impact on his father’s political career.” Feng Yu asked.
“Hahaha…. Feng, I think I had not made myself clear. Alexander’s company is a state-owned enterprise, and he is only the representative of this company. Oh, he is considered a leader now. Didn’t you notice that his house is not very big, and we are staying in a Government hotel?”
Huh?
Kirilenko is partnering with Belarus’s state-owned enterprise, and Alexander is only a representative? No wonder Alexander’s car and house are too lousy for a tyc.o.o.n.
“Feng, many of our partners are state-owned enterprises. Of course, there are a lot more like Brother Ke. You should understand that the situation in different countries is different.”
Feng Yu replied. “I know. I was asking.”
Feng Yu realized that he must change his strategy. He had planned to give Alexander some money to lower the price of the technologies. But it seems this strategy will not work.
Feng Yu is not very confident in this negotiation as his team is not allowed to get involved. He can only negotiate this transaction himself, and it will be very tough.
Alexander will be bringing his team, and the ones from China are all engineers. Feng Yu even wonders if those engineers know how to evaluate how much those technologies are worth.
All these technologies and information are priceless to these engineers, but businessmen will evaluate them based on the prices.
Feng Yu regretted not asking the higher-ups to send at least two people who had partic.i.p.ated in such negotiations as a reference.
Although Feng Yu does not mind the prices, he does not want to benefit others for no reason.
Even if he donates his money, he should donate to China and let his fellow countrymen benefit from it. Feng Yu doesn’t know why he is so narrow-minded, but he doesn’t want to change.
Yes. He will never change!
“Feng, I am only a middle man and will only introduce them to you. I hope you will understand that I will not get involved in this transaction.”
“Brother Ki, you don’t need to explain yourself. I am grateful to you for introducing him to me. Also, you know that I am willing to spend on the things I like and don’t mind spending more on it.”
Kirilenko kept quiet for a few seconds and looked at Feng Yu in his eyes. “Feng, I will inform my father about this transaction after you leave, and my father might report to his higher-ups. I hope you can understand.”
Feng Yu knew what Kirilenko mean. He must let the Russian Government know about this transaction, but it will be after the deal is completed.
Kirilenko is Russian, and Feng Yu understood him well. He is grateful for Kirilenko’s help and does not hide anything from him.
“Don’t worry, Brother Ki. Our relationship will only get better, and I believe the diplomatic relations between our countries will improve.”
China and Russia seldom have conflicts, and they will never go into war because of the US.
Of course, some minor clashes still happened once in a while and cannot be avoided.
…….
Feng Yu returned to his room to look at the materials given to him by Yuan Xinwu.
After reading for a while, Feng Yu put it down and started thinking about Alexander.
If it was like what he a.n.a.lyzed, Lukashenko needs money to continue his Presidency. Alexander might be representing him to sell these technologies.
No wonder Alexander agreed immediately when Kirilenko approached him. Feng Yu even suspects Lukashenko wanted to sell these technologies as Belarus is not by the sea and does not have a Navy. All these technologies are useless to them.
Belarus can stop their ships at other countries’ ports, but not warships. Although the former Soviet Union countries had been working together, their cooperation does not cover everything.
Furthermore, it is expensive to maintain a Navy force, and it will be a burden for a small country with a population of tens of millions. The country’s annual income is only a few billion USD.
Hong Kong’s income is several times more than Belarus, although the former’s population is much lower. Also, Hong Kong does not need to spend on the military, and their Government can spend more on their people.
Belarus is a developing country, and its people are not happy.
Lukashenko announced to his people that they would get retirement funds when they reached retirement age to get their support. He also increased the government spending in education, medical, cultural, etc., to gain supporters.
But all these require money.
Without money, these are all empty talk. If Lukashenko wants to win the next term, he must do something to let his people believe he can improve their lives.
Feng Yu suddenly remembered Yuan Xinwu telling him that China had spoken to Belarus a few times before. Then they must have talked about this before China bought that aircraft carrier from Ukraine. But China only got an empty aircraft carrier hulk without weapons.
Could it be Alexander agreed to negotiate with Feng Yu because he thought Feng Yu is representing China?
Feng Yu thought for a while and felt this is possible because no one will believe he will buy these technologies to donate to his country.
No tyc.o.o.ns in this world had done this before.
Since Alexander thought Feng Yu is representing China, then let them carry on. Feng Yu will make use of this misunderstanding in his favor in this negotiation.
