Chapter 510 – Stupid Mainlander
“Old Chen, drive me back.: Feng Yu told the driver.
Fu Guangzheng and the rest had left. He did not even tell Feng Yu when he left. That bartender was already dumbfounded. He had only wanted to bootlick the two young masters of the Fu family to get additional tips. But his plan had backfired.
Fu Guangzheng still had a good reputation. But Fu Guangwei will surely bring some thugs to smash up this disco. The boss of this disco will not let this bartender off. Also, the boss of this disco was also a gangster. The bartender only hopes he would not be beaten up too badly by his boss.
The apartment Fu Guangzheng bought for Feng Yu was a small apartment with one room. The living room was bigger, and this was the most common type of apartment in Hong Kong. The total area, including the balcony, was less than 50 square meters.
Feng Yu had wanted to get a better apartment, but the apartments near to Hong Kong University were overpriced. Anyway, Feng Yu was staying alone, and there was no need for a large apartment. Fu Guangzheng had recommended him the Mid-levels villas, but Feng Yu rejected. What private roads and better security? These were all bulls.h.i.t.
If the security in Hong Kong were so good, Superman Li’s son would not be kidnapped! The residential estates near the Police stations were the safest. Anyway, Feng Yu does not want to live with Fu Guangwei. That guy had a f.u.c.ked-up lifestyle.
The next day, when Feng Yu woke up, he remembered a serious problem…… He knew what time his cla.s.ses start, but he does not know where his cla.s.s was!
Although Feng Yu had not planned to be a hardworking student, he can’t keep on skipping his lessons. This would affect Beijing University’s reputation. Furthermore, Feng Yu wanted to see the standard of Hong Kong University’ lecturers.
If the lecturers were capable, then there will be some outstanding students. Feng Yu wants to see if he could spot some of these elites and recruit them.
Feng Yu was involved in a wide range of businesses. He had no worries about recruiting workers and capital. The most important aspect of his company were the management staffs, designs, research, sales, etc…. He needs professionals in specialized fields. Even a grade 8 worker was not as important.
If someone could design an attractive automobile model, Feng Yu will surely reward the designer handsomely. If someone could develop advanced technology, Feng Yu would even give that person some shares.
It was still the same saying. What was the most expensive in the 21st century? Talents!
……
“Hi, how do I get to the Business faculty office?” Feng Yu asked a student.
The student, who was stopped by Feng Yu, looked at him from top to toes: “You are from the mainland?”
“Yes. I am here to study.”
“I don’t know!”
That student walked away with his head held high. Feng Yu was puzzled. I did not offend you in any way. I am only asking for directions, was there a need to be so stuck up?
Also, what’s wrong with coming from the mainland? Discrimination?
Feng Yu knew that this sort of scenarios will continue until the year 2000. This was because after Hong Kong was returned to China, many Chinese came over to work in Hong Kong. They were getting lesser wages but were more efficient. Also, some Hong Kong businessmen went to China to set up factories.
This would lead to an increase in unemployment in Hong Kong, and many Hong Kongers resent the Chinese for taking away their jobs.
If you are capable, there is no reason why you can’t get a high paying job.
All major cities in the world could not isolate themselves from the rest of the world. There were lots of foreigners working in major cities in the world, including the most flourished city, New York.
In fact, if it were not for China, Hong Kong would not be so prosperous. When Hong Kong had a financial crisis in the future years, it was China that helped. If not, Hong Kong would be finished. That was the time when Hong Kongers started to face reality and continued to work hard.
Most of the capable people had gone over to work in China. They realized that China was not like what they imagined. There were even more opportunities in China compared to Hong Kong.
Feng Yu shook his head and continued his search for his cla.s.s. If he still could not find his way, he would give Fu Guangwei a call.
Feng Yu asked a few students. But when they heard Feng Yu’s accent, all of them refuse to talk to him. Feng Yu had no choice but to use English to ask for directions. It was only when he used English, people would tell him the directions.
“Dr. Smith, I am Feng Yu, the exchange student from Beijing University. I do not know where my cla.s.ses are held.” Feng Yu said embarra.s.sedly. d.a.m.n, that Fu Guangzheng was really unreliable. Feng Yu had not noticed that his timetable only states the time and subjects. The cla.s.srooms were not indicated in it!
“You are Feng Yu? You should be in cla.s.s at this time. This is your course’s detailed timetable.” Dr. Smith said with an unhappy tone.
“I had reported to the university yesterday, but no one gave me this detailed timetable.” Feng Yu explained.
“Go to your cla.s.s first. We can talk about this another time.” Dr. Smith was an external lecturer in the Business Faculty. He got his Doctorate in Economics from the University of Oxford in the UK. He was a Hong Konger, but he likes people to call him Dr. Smith. Even the nameplate on his desk was written in English.
Dr. Smith was very unhappy with Feng Yu. This was an excellent opportunity for Feng Yu to come to Hong Kong University and he does not know how to cherish it.
What would happen to Hong Kong after it was returned to China? Look at the att.i.tude of these mainlanders. How can a student not know he does not have a detailed timetable? Luckily it will be one country two systems. If not, Hong Kong would be finished!
Feng Yu could tell that the lecturers in the Business Faculty do not like him and he left. If Dr. Smith did not ask him to “go to cla.s.s first,” Feng Yu would think that he was an irresponsible lecturer. Feng Yu really wanted to ask Dr. Smith why was he looking down on mainlanders?
The first cla.s.s had ended by the time Feng Yu reached the cla.s.s. There was a second cla.s.s in the same room, and Feng Yu went to sit in an empty seat.
“Hi, I am Feng Yu. Can I ask where the lecturer stopped?” Feng Yu asked the student beside him.
“You are from China?”
Feng Yu frowned: “Yes. Is there anything wrong?”
“Exchange student?”
“Exchange student.”
“Oh.” That student said that and start packing his bag and shifted to another seat.
WTF? This is p.i.s.sing me off. What’s wrong with me being a Chinese? Did I offend you? Discrimination?
Feng Yu was p.i.s.sed. He immediately grabs his bag and moved to the seat beside that student.
“Stay away from me.”
“What if I refuse?” Feng Yu raised his brows. Why? You dare to hit me? I am 1.8 meters, and you are not even 1.7 meters. You are also as skinny as a toothpick. You think I am scared of you?
“You all mainlanders are all uncultured! You are just like that guy I met two days ago. Old fashion!” That student said and flicked his hair.
f.u.c.k you! What’s wrong with having short hair? Old fashion? Long hair like yours are fashionable? Who was the one who set this rule? I like to keep my hair short!
“Who are you calling uncultured?”
“I am calling you uncultured, Stupid Mainlander!”
